RSVP for 6pm on sat evening. By the time we were done the meal the whole restaurant was packed. Every table was full. Parking wise the did have a small parking space outside the restaurant about 10- 15 car space but those filled up fast. Ambiance wise was dark interior with some decorations on the wall. They also had the in the front some food items you could buy. Got the banana leaf feast for 2. $25 dollar person so $50 plus tax and tip for the meal. There disposable glove a sink at the back to wash hands and some dipping sauce you can mix vinegar, hot sauce and soya sauce into little cup. The thing that was definitely missing was napkins. We asked for extra plate to put seafood shells aside muscles shrimp squid milk fish 2 skewers of bbw pork mango salad and orange with unlimited garlic rice as well were told. Garlic rice was not too garlicky. Definitely was pretty full after eating. One thing to note we weren't aware we have to go out to the counter to pay only found out when we asked the server. This is their 2nd location not sure if they 1st location downtown is still opened. Didn't check out the washroom but looked like it goes downstairs.

My friend had this before and invited me to try out their kamayan. We got a portion of two and I was very excited to try this out. I appreciated that they offered gloves as well. I did not know this but we are able to substitute some of the items (maybe with a charge) as my friend did not want the milkfish since that fish is very bony. They laid out the food in a timely manner and it looked and smelled great. I was a big fan of the garlic fried rice, super aromatic. A few of my favorites was the grilled squid, okra and mussels. It was almost guaranteed that you will be full after finishing the kamayan. My friend persuaded me to have the halo halo too and it was good. I was not too fond of the kidney beans in it so I picked it out. If I got it again, I would ask to remove the beans.

Food 4/5 Service 5/5 Ambience 4/5 The restaurant has an inviting vibe and warm decor. At the entrance, there are prepared foods for takeout. We had a great time at lunch today. My friends had never experienced a Kamayan feast or had any Filipino food. Service is very friendly and I appreciated all the servers checking on us until all our friends arrived. After the meal, the servers let us stay on while we caught up with each other. There was no rushing us out. For the meal. The server places a plastic table cloth on the table, topped by banana leaves and a bed of steamed or fried or baked garlic rice. This is topped by: - [ ] Milkfish and Tilapia - [ ] Mussels - [ ] Shrimp - [ ] Pork Belly - [ ] Pork Skewer - [ ] Okra - [ ] Eggplant - [ ] Mango salad - [ ] Orange slice Only the garlic rice is refillable. My favourites were the two types of fish, mussels, eggplant, okra, pork belly and pork skewers, so almost everything!! Haha! The meats are barbecued. My only wish is that there was more garlic flavour to the garlic rice. We shared three Halo Halo shaved ice for our dessert. This is my third visit to Tinuno but first visit to this location. Tips: - [ ] Reservations are recommended - [ ] Pay at the front - [ ] Credit card is accepted - [ ] 18% gratuity automatically added for 6 or more people - [ ] Washrooms are self-contained and are downstairs thus not accessible - [ ] Parking is very limited outside the restaurant. We parked on a side street less than a five minute walk from the restaurant

Came here on a Friday night, group of 4, with reservations through open table. Food- kamayan spread for 2+ people ($25pp) includes mussels, shrimp, okra, eggplant, squid, tiliapia, Bangus (milkfish), pork belly, bbq pork skewer & unlimited garlic fried rice!! A side salad of mango, & orange. Everything was grilled, seasoned and marinated just right. A great representation of Filipino bbq spread and variety of proteins. Plenty of portion to fill you up. (Bonus unlimited garlic fried rice means you'll always have some rice with your meat... don't feel shy!!) - we also ordered side of intestines, chicken bbq skewers and lumpia (pork). Out of all the proteins I loved the chicken bbq skewer just because I've always loved the Filipino marinade. Juicy, sweet, tender chicken. Drinks- ordered the Sago't Gulaman. Mix of tapioca, sago and sweet brown sugar like drink. Yummy! Dessert- ordered the halo halo. Shaved ice with toppings like leche flan, ube ice cream, coconut strands, jelly, sweet beans, ube halaya etc. so yummy! One of my favourites. Also ordered the Silvanas - Ube and vanilla. Amazing. A cashew treat layered with cream on the inside. Parking- sometimes the lot is busy; but there is a lot just right beside. Overall experience - highly recommend for those who want to experience kamayan! Love the food. Great flavour.

This has to be one the best filipino restaurants I've been to. The restaurant looks smaller on the outside and has a shared parking lot with other businesses so parking is a little hard, but it's much easier to get to than it's other location downtown. Inside they have one area where you can order food, and another area to dine. Washrooms are downstairs. The dining area was very clean. They had nice music playing, and great decorations. Service was great. Staff was friendly and attentive. I enjoyed being their because all the staff stayed smiling and were happy. The food came out pretty quick and it was undoubtedly full of great flavor. I was surprised how much everything cost. It was definitely worth the price. I wish they had something similar to this near where I live but if I'm ever back in the area, I will be sure to return here.

I've been coming here for almost every special occasion, and it never disappoints! From the kamayan feast to the banana leaves and the vinegar on the table, everything about Tinuno reminds me of home (the Philippines). The portions are generous, the staff is super attentive, and the food always hits the spot. We especially love the unlimited garlic rice, it makes the kamayan price per person feel so worth it. The inside is small, but you won't even notice because you'll be too busy looking at and enjoying the food. Definitely a must-visit for authentic Filipino flavors!

Kamayan for two. We chose the milkfish.

My friend and colleague, who is Filipino, saw my photos of my first kamayan feast at an eatery in Scarborough. He was happy to hear that I liked my first feast experience eating with my hands, thanks to a pair of gloves. He craved having kamayan and asked if I wanted to join him for dinner. Yes! He recommended Tinuno. I did a quick search and asked which one he wanted. He had been to this one on Bathurst Street, in the heart of Little Manila. I was game, as it was a bit closer to me than heading downtown. My friend made a reservation for us. It was cool having him make it. I typically do it like clockwork, so it was a treat to have him take this task over. We had a 6:00 pm reservation on a Monday night. I got there early. This eatery is located in a small plaza with limited parking. I nabbed the second-last available parking spot and backed into in. A pickup truck parked next to me. I was wondering if I could get out of my car because this truck was massive. I thankfully could! My friend rolled up in a Uber. We then walked in together while chatting up a storm. There is a counter for takeout orders. It was cool seeing what you can get foodwise, which continues to bring joy to me. We were in another lineup. We got a pleasant woman who found our reservation. We were seated immediately at a cozy table. My friend is a huge fan of sisig. We got the sizzling sisig, knowing that we'd likely have leftovers. We did! For the kamayan, if you are two people or more, you have the option of getting the milkfish or the tilapia. My friend asked me what I thought of the fish. I liked the milkfish a lot better than the tilapia when I had my first feast. My friend and I are similar in food tastes. He agreed with me. Milkfish, it was! My friend got calamansi juice. I went with pineapple juice. He loved his drink. I loved mine, except that it was small. I ended up getting a Diet Coke. Cold drinks. Perfect! It took no time for our sisig and kamayan to arrive. There were gloves on the table, so we helped ourselves. We got a spoon for the sisig. The sisig was yummy. It was sizzling and flavourful. We couldn't eat it all, so we ended up getting takeout boxes for it and our dessert. The kamayan was delicious. This one had more seafood than my first experience. The milkfish and shrimp were to-die-for yummy. The grilled squid was overdone, though. It took a lot of effort to pull the rings apart with my gloved hands and several chews to swallow it. The rice was yummy. I wish that it were garlic rice, though. It would have made this feast even more amazing than it already was. I am normally not a fan of okra, mainly because I've had it in curries and stews. It gets slimy and gross. However, I'm perfectly fine eating grilled okra because it's crunchy and isn't slimy. My friend isn't a fan of okra in any form, so I ate them all up. On the other hand, I don't like eggplant unless it's pan-fried to death. I had one. It was still gross and spongy to me, so he ate all of them. There were two orange slices. I'm a fruit fanatic. I had both of them. I feel like my first kamayan spoiled me. We got a bunch of sauces. This kamayan needed sauces to launch it into excellent status. It was yummy, but there was more room for improvement. We ended up ordering more items even though we were stuffed: - Crispy chicken skin - Cassava cake - Suman with white sugar We split the cassava cake. It was slightly sweet. I loved it. We also split the suman. My friend likes to roll it in white sugar. I've only had it with brown sugar. The white sugar tastes better. It elevates the cassava. It was a great suggestion on his part. I love chicharron. The chicken version of it was perfect here. The chicken skin was crispy and perfectly salted. We took home the crispy chicken skin, suman, and sigig. We were happy with our leftovers the next day! We took turns using the washroom. It's downstairs. Accessibility isn't there for those who require mobility assistance. The washroom that I used was clean. No complaints. When I returned to our table, my friend had settled the bill. You can't split the bill here. I asked my friend to let me know how much I owed him. This review reminded me that I never got an answer from him, so I'll need to bug him again. He doesn't drive, so I dropped him off at Yorkdale subway station. It's ten minutes away by car, so the location is decent. We had a wonderful time. I'm hoping that the rubbery squid was a one-time anomaly. I'd return for more good eats. (173)

Service was excellent. They were so friendly, and went above and beyond. My toddler was having a hard time, crying and whining. One of the servers offered him a hot dog on the house. It was so nice and appreciated. It's hard enough as a mom with an emotional toddler, so the server's thoughtfulness and attentiveness went a LONG way. Thank you thank you! As for the food, we went as a big table and ordered the Kamayan for $25 per person. The ambiance was great and we all used gloves to dig into the feast. My favourite were the mussels and skewers and shrimp. Others really enjoyed the milkfish (it was very seasoned with lemon-salt flavour). The garlic rice was yummy and unlimited. The other foods were ok - the grilled meat and squid didn't stand out as having much flavour. The eggplant skin had a very charred flavour. There is parking in front of the restaurant but it gets busy. We went at 5pm so there were a few spots available but by the time we left it was packed. There's street parking around though (try Sultan). They allowed us to bring in our own cake for a birthday celebration, and they brought a cake cutting knife and helped light the candles. After cake we were still down for more dessert so we tried the silvanas. It tasted like a denser creamier version of an ice cream sandwich. There was one that was salty - maybe salted caramel? We wanted to try the banana turon but they didn't have it available.

I've been here a few times already thanks to a friend's recommendation and have tried the downtown location. Honestly, this location is way better imo. The taste, flavor and char bbq hits the spot compared to the downtown location which was salty and burnt most of the time. Kamayan feast is the go to especially if you have a large group, the unlimited garlic fried rice is to die for! The bbq skewers and seafood is delicious as well as the halo halo to finish. Take out is great as well especially their breakfasts, we always try to ubereats when ever we can. The restaurant is bigger than the downtown location however, parking is limited so it's best to go early before the dinner rush and there is side street parking as well. This place is friendly with larger groups (my was over 10+) and the staff there are super friendly and tentative.

The distance and distinct lack of parking space in front of Tinuno was all forgotten when I sat down for one of their Kamayan (hand) feasts. Laid out on banana leaves, there was a mix of meats and seafoods made in a Filipino cuisine way that evoked some memories of my last trip to Manila. Pork skewers, fried shrimp, grilled octopus and other fried meats and cooked seafoods made it a meal to remember. The feast was bookended by an appetizer order of fried lumpia, and closed out with the sweet custard taste of leche flan. All washed down with pineapple juice! Everything was served in a timely matter that I didn't go hungry at all during meal. The place was spacious to hold many diners, and the vibe was mainly of patrons enjoying the food through a subtle volume of deep-fried crunch and savoury-sounding moans. I'd definitely go back!

Had their kamayan which included our choice of fish (we chose the milkfish), squid, shrimp, mussel, pork belly, pork skewer, okra, eggplant, mango salad, and garlic rice. The kamayan was beautiful and so delicious! We felt stuffed by the end and I loved how they added some fruits too which was refreshing.

Came here on a weekday night to celebrate my mom's birthday. Reserved a table a few days in advance, thinking this place was quite well known so snatching a table by walking-in was not a good idea... WRONG! When we arrived at 7pm, this place was EMPTY! Not one single patron was eating there, and we thought it was weird. We ordered their signature kamayan feast ($25 per person), and their calamansi drink. The kamayan was served on a big wooden chopping board covered by banana leave, garlic rice topped with pork skewers, mussels, shrimp, squid, okra, eggplant, choice of milkfish or tilapia, pork belly pieces, some mango salad and orange slices. The ingredients were portioned so that each person could only get 1 - 2 pieces of each ingredient to accompany the big portioned garlic rice. We were given disposable gloves to eat with the food, however, we requested utensils and plates as we weren't used to eating our meals with our hands. The grilled items- skewers and pork belly, were really good as they have enough char marks and smoky flavour. The seafood were just regular seafood, nothing special about them. The milkfish though, they didn't de-scale it so we had to enjoy the fish with caution. Overall, we thought the price didn't not reflect on meal. It's pricier for the amount of food we have gotten. Service was lacking... they pretty much left us alone to chit chat, interrupted the music several times so they could show each other videos they took. WILL NOT COME BACK!

This is a second location of Tinuno compared to the main location in downtown Toronto. It is located on a small plaza that's about a 5-10 min drive from Yorkdale. Parking is very limited in front of the restaurant, so we had to park across for street parking instead. When we walked inside, it looked like a convenience store and very home style. We opted for the Kamayan feast for $25/person. Price is reasonable given the rising costs these days. However, the taste wasn't to my liking. I was expecting the garlic rice to be more flavourful, and the fish was a bit too charred for me. The only thing I really enjoyed was the skewers. Service could have been better as well. Overall, nice to have a first try but don't see myself returning.

Ube Milk Jelly ($4.99). The customer service is good, although you may have to wait during busy meal times because there were so many customers. The Ensaymada is a fluffy bread type pastry filled with custard or ube. Both were delicious. The Shanghai and Empanada were good. I loved the Mini Turon which had banana and jack fruit inside a crispy shell, coated with caramelized brown sugar. For their skewers, you can pour a spiced vinegar sauce or a fishball sauce, or both into the cardboard container. The fishball sauce is a thick, sweet and savory sauce. Kikiam is a sausage-like roll made of minced pork and vegetables, seasoned with 5-spice powder Kwek Kwek is simply made up of hardboiled quail eggs that's coated in a pancake-like batter, and deep-fried until light and crispy. I absolutely loved the Sago Gulaman drink. I love sago pieces. The Gulaman has a sweetness from agar, which I also love. Calimansi is Philippine's most popular drink. Tapsilog, a popular Filipino (breakfast?) meal, is a portmanteau of the dish's three components: tapa (beef), sinangag (garlic fried rice), and itlog (fried egg). The beef was good. The fried rice was indeed garlicy. Chicken Inasal is a grilled chicken, typically the breast (Pecho) or leg (Paa). This version was the breast. This chicken was moist and perfectly cooked. Beef Mami is a type of Beef Noodle soup of Filipino-Chinese origin. This is simply composed of tender beef brisket and egg noodles, boiled eggs, and other toppings which are soaked in a hot and flavourful beef stock. This was indeed nice to have on a cold day like today. The beef was tender. Chicken Mami is a Filipino-style soup with flavourful stock, fresh egg noodles, flaked chicken, vegetables, and tasty toppings! This warm soup was also welcome on a cold day like today. Taho is a Philippine snack food made of fresh soft/silken tofu, arnibal, and sago pearl. This staple comfort food.of course I liked this because of the sago and tofu. I love anything with silky tofu in it! You usually eat it with a spoon but you can also use a wide straw. The Milk Jelly were good. It had a lot of flavoured jellies in thick milk. There are many picnic tables in the outdoor food court. Unfortunately during the Spring and Fall, the tables are not surrounded by walls as they are during winter. We happen to come when the temperature was around 2C! It felt so cold with the windchill. There is no free WiFi. The food stall is wheelchair accessible. There are o washrooms at this food court. There is paid neighbourhood street parking. Review 2025-047

Some of them are available as weekly specials only. Sometimes they with collaborate with other restaurants.  For example, in Apr 2021, they collaborated with Ulamkits' Panaderia to provide combine their bao (cheesy and sweet ensaymada), stuffed with Adobar's own smoky pork garnished with pork floss, scallions and spicy sauce. This combination was called AdoBao. It came as a kit where you have to broil it in an oven for a few minutes. For Mother's Day 2021, they collaborated with Tito Parley's Silvanas (frozen cookies with cashew-meringue wafers filled with cream). Adobar put their decadent chocolate between the wafers and wrote "Thank You" on the top wafer along with edible 23k gold leaf. You can eat it frozen or thawed. 2021-062 You can also find me on Instagram @chuan_chee. Thanks.

It's a small cozy place with limited seating. When you enter the place, you will see a glass counter with a wide range of unlabeled and unpriced dishes that can be confusing for the uninitiated. There are also dishes that can be made to order including the 'Silog' breakfast. Tried their Dinuguan dish and Halo-Halo. The dinuguan is on the salty side and the Halo-Halo is lacking in ingredients. At the back of this place they have a small 'Sari-Sari' store which is basically a convenience store selling Filipino groceries and merchandise such as t-shirts emblazoned with a Tagalog word slogan. And since this is located in downtown, prices are on the expensive side compared to their suburbs counterparts. But if you're really in need of Filipino ingredients or just craving Filipino food, I guess this is the place to be. Just don't expect to find everything here and be prepared to pay premium pricing.

A few Saturdays back, a couple of friends and I met up at Islas Filipino BBQ and Bar. We all…read morepitched eatery ideas and went with this suggestion from our Filipino friend who has always been my guide when it comes to Filipino food. We originally planned on going in early February. We meet up roughly every two months. One friend had to cancel. I was away during the long Family Day weekend. Instead, we rescheduled to the Saturday after the long weekend. I am the reservation booker in our group. I don't wait for someone to do it. It's an automatic instinct. I booked online twice. It was easy to cancel my first reservation and reschedule. You get a text message that confirms that your reservation is good or that your cancellation request went through. You also get a reminder a day before and an hour before your reservation. Nice! I had no problem finding a parking spot on Queen Street West, steps away from the eatery on the north side of the street. It's Green P parking, so I paid for three hours of parking through the app. I then started a new session for an hour because we tend to go over three hours when we dine as a group. It's such a great app and is convenient! One of my friends had arrived when I did. Moments later, our other friend made it. We all walked into the restaurant. The woman who greeted us knew my name from the reservation. It was nice to not say much! We got a nice table in the middle of the eatery. We ordered the following items: - To' silog with pandesal (me) - Bulalo (beef shank) soup - Barbeque - chicken and pineapple skewers - Sisig with steamed rice - Cava - Manila bay x 3 We got water to start. Our group tends to go for alcoholic drinks. We went with a bottle of cava, which was the best. It was fizzy, light, and enjoyable for brunch. I wanted a Filipino breakfast and went with the to' silog with pandesal. It had Filipino bacon called tocino that was pork belly. I love pork belly and liked how it was both slightly sweet and savory. I got two fried eggs, a light salad, and an orange wedge. It came with the fluffiest pandesal that I used to sop up the runny yolks. The garlic fried rice was amazing. Everything was delicious. One of my friend had the barbeque. I learned that barbeque means things on skewers that are barbequed. She got chicken and pineapple on skewers that came dangling from a pretty skewer holder with dipping sauce in the middle of it. She loved it so much. She saw my pandesal and my devouring it as if I hadn't had bread in my life that she got one. She understood how yummy it was. My other friend got the Bulalo (beef shank) soup. He was impressed that I knew the name of his dish. We have similar tastes. I like shank in soup. If I didn't have a craving for Filipino breakfast, I would have had this dish. He enjoyed it. It looked huge and hearty, especially with corn on the cob and other veggies in the soup. As we dined and chatted, I noticed an orange drink that the table next to us had. I asked our server what it was. It was Manila Bay. It had San Miguel beer, gin, calamansi, and honey. It was a traditional Manila drink. Our group said yes to a pitcher. It technical serves two, but we split it between the three of us to see if we liked it. OMG! This cocktail was delicious. We loved it so much that we ordered two more pitchers, so we essentially had one each when we were done. It was totally worth splurging to get it. It was refreshing and yummy. We didn't get any dessert. We were full from the food and drinks. Our alcoholic drinks were our dessert... haha! The washrooms are downstairs. It's an older building, so it's not great accessibility-wise. The washroom was clean and decent. Staff were so patient with us. We were the first group to arrive and the last to leave at around 4:30 pm. We got the bill split in three. All three of us paid with credit cards. I tapped and tipped. All was great. It's a fabulous place to enjoy authentic Filipino food and drinks with company. Everything was yummy and staff were great. I'd return in a heartbeat for more. Maybe we can do a kamayan feast (boodle fight eating with your hands) next time. (117)

Overall I was fairly satisfied with the food and wouldn't mind trying some of their other offerings. For some reason I was very excited to try this place so I ordered a bit more than I usually do. We did the prix fixe menu choosing the lumpia as our starter, adobo as our main, and a halo halo as our dessert. We also ordered the BBQ pork as this was highly recommended and the main reason I wanted to try Islas. The BBQ pork definitely met the hype as the meat was tender and flavourful. The lumpia (which is essentially a spring roll) was also great with its crispy exterior and flavourful fillings. The halo halo was solid as well. The adobo was the one thing I did not really enjoy much. It was ok but this is not the flavour of adobo that I personally enjoy. It was not bad but not the flavour I think of when I want adobo. The space was large and was dimly lit. It felt clean and spacious and the decor was alright nothing special. The service was ok. They took our order, brought our food and cashed us out. Really nothing especially good or bad. All in all I would definitely come back here for the BBQ and to try some of their other offerings. Glad I came here and tried it and would recommend the same to anyone looking for food in the area.

I loved the ube pork adobo cheese bun, very unique and delicious. Some items are really pricy for what you get, but that's usually the case at the night markets. Fun to try out some limited time items for the festival. Loved that there was a ube themed backdrop to take a photo and it was great that it was walking distance to us.
