Manila Chicken Curry with rice, salad and hard-boiled egg
    Jonah N.

My cousin and I looked for a place to eat after watching the Blue Jays game on Canada Day. I remember I had always wanted to try Casa Manila on the Danforth after going to their booth last year during the Filipino Night Market, and their dine-in didn't disappoint. It was about a twenty-minute subway ride with one transfer from Line 1 going north to Line 2 heading east at the Chester stop. Once we arrived it was a short wait for a table. Despite of the multitude of choices on the menu, we both ordered chicken - mine in the form of the Manila Chicken Curry, and my cousin having the Adobo. Our food orders arrived quickly in two separate dishes - which surprised me and also reminded me of my own Filipino mother's cooking and presentation (the dish itself being used harkened back to my childhood)! The curry was so savoury, the chicken tender and delicious that I ate most of it without rice! The atmosphere was very chill for a Saturday night. 80s music was playing in the background, but not loud enough to drown out the conversation between my cousin and I. All in all, I'd definitely come back to this location or try the same-named restaurant on York Mills to try another dish. Maybe the tapsilog, the chicken sisig fries or the Filipino tacos?

Casa Manila focuses on traditional Filipino dishes rather than fusion. The ingredients and method of cooking focus on being healthy. Filipino food is usually meat and rice. Casa Manila has added some vegetables to their dishes to make it a more balanced meal. There are a lot of plant-based dishes too. The cuisine philosophy is nature to nurture. Of course they are known for their Ultimate Halo Halo dessert and it is offered at this location too. There is an amazing 12 ingredients. Since this location used to be a coffee shop, they also serve several varieties of coffee products including their own creation of Milo Latte. We went as a large group. Here are most of the items we ordered: 1. Calamansi Mojito ($8.00) drink is the most popular drink, very refreshing. 2. Coconut Dream mocktail ($8.00). 3. Casa Manila Salad ($13.95). 4. Lechon Kawali ($18.95). 5. Beef Kaldereta ($19.95). 6. Coconut Ginger Vegetables ($15.95). 7. Sizzling Gambas Garlic Shrimp ($19.95). 8. Pork Tapas/Sisig ($17.95). 9. Pancit Bihon ($15.95). 10. Fried Garlic White Rice ($8.95). 11. Steamed White Jasmine Rice ($6.95). 12. Ultimate Halo Halo ($9.95). Filipino has influences from Chinese, Spanish/Mexican, American, and early Malay. It is a very fusion culture. There is Filipino jazz music In the background. There is seating for 32 indoor and 12 outdoor. The kitchen is 1/16 of the size of the original Casa Manila location. This address was previously a coffee shop with 18 seats. The interior has urban Filipino tropical theme decorations. Most of the decorations were made in the Philippines. They had a soft opening on 2022-07-29 and a grand opening on 2022-08-13. There is free WiFi. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible. There is one gender-neutral washroom which is also wheelchair accessible. There is paid and free neighbourhood parking. Review 2022-108

This was my first time doing kamayan style at a Filipino restaurant and the experience was truly a special one! This night will be one to remember for year to come,. My friend introduced this place to me and I didn't know what to expect, but they did not disappoint. Great food and great service. I can't wait to return and perhaps visit the other location!

    Kare kare and adobo

Amazing food! We got the chicken lumpia, chicken adobo, garlic rice, Kare kare, and flan. Everything tasted great. The adobo was more tangy and sweet than what I'm used to - but in a good way. I usually don't like flan but really enjoyed this one!

The atmosphere was incredible thanks to the kind customer service and beautiful interior design! Tried vegan kamayan and it was SO delicious (didn't know vegan food can taste this good)! 100% recommend!

Was walking by and we decided to get lunch here. It kinda stands out as a non-Mediterranean cuisine on the Danforth (aka Greektown) but it has a great ambiance with lots of plants and earthy decor. There's also a small patio on the sidewalk in front of the restaurant window (that also rolls up!) Portion sizes are pretty big so you get good value for a nicer sit down place. We got the à la carte chicken adobo to share (does not come with rice), pancit, and a small serving of garlic fried rice. It was waaay too much for 2 people. I feel like a main plus an appetizer to share would have been more appropriate. Food was overall good. I would recommend the pancit! The chicken adobo was a bit too salty for me, but I'm usually sensitive to sodium. Staff are friendly - but service is what I like to call "relaxed" (aka a bit slow). So if you're in a rush, probably not the best place. Would come back to try the Filipino breakfast because there aren't that many places serving that in town I think. And the happy hour drinks!

So the bear itself in the affogato was a solid icy chunk of milk (coz we chose the milk flavour) that just frozen. We added the affogato on top of it and while it looked aesthetic, the dessert didn't make sense at all. We were unable to break the frozen chunk or be able to mix it with the coffee and the coffee mixed with that frozen chunk submerged tasted really bad. Paying $16 for that wasn't worth it at all. The bingsu was good though. We got the mango bingsu bowl and it came loaded with mangoes and a marshmallow and an oreo cookie to make it look pretty! I don't think I'd come back to try anything else here. Was a little disappointed.

I requested to be lighter on the chocolate but there was still a LOT of chocolate on our waffle. The mango smoothie was refreshing and sweet. I started going to Holy Choco when they first opened and their service was really good from some of the owner. Super attentive and caring staff. Unfortunately, it's since gone downhill since they've hired new staff and we had a number of small problems when visiting this time (dirty tables, dirty cutlery, requested if our food could be put in to go containers because they didn't want to do dishes, unfriendly, etc.) I hope they improve upon these staffing issues soon. Their seating area is good for friends and groups to loiter. Also, if you plan on bringing a laptop, they have MANY OUTLETS!!

The interior is nicely decorated with a cute angel photo op in the back, and window bar seats and couches to choose from. Great spot for 2-4 people. The only criticism I could have was it took a while to get our order. So, it's not one of those places you can be dipping into expecting to be done in 20mins! We stayed for nearly 3 hours and enjoyed ourselves thoroughly.

I stopped by Kream after seeing all the hype on Instagram about the famous Korean "Dubai…read morechocolate." When I saw the price was $9.90 per chocolate, I was honestly a little surprised, bc it's sold under 7 per chocolate in Korea. But they were running a promotion until the 15th -- 5 for $30 -- which made it much more reasonable. I've never had the original version sold in Korea, so I can't compare it directly, but from what I've seen and heard, it seems pretty similar to what's trending there. Korean reviews are overwhelmingly positive, and people say it tastes just like the viral version. The texture is definitely chewy, just like the name suggests, and it's very sweet. Personally, it was a bit too sweet for my taste, but that's just my preference. That being said, I gave some as gifts and they absolutely loved it. So if you enjoy rich, sweet desserts -- or you're looking for something trendy and fun to share -- this would be a great choice. The shop itself is small and cozy, but very welcoming. The staff were friendly and made the experience pleasant. Overall, even though it's not exactly my personal favorite flavor-wise, I can understand the hype. It's a fun treat to try at least once, especially if you've been curious about the viral Korean Dubai chocolate trend. I'd recommend stopping by and taking advantage of the promo while it lasts!
