Went here after lunch next door (kapampangan?) for our take out food pilgrimage. My own take of…read morefilipino diners and take outs is that nobody really edge out over the others on taste and service. Everybody wins. Therefore, lets cut to the chase. Its about portions and prices. But because one has to do with the other and cannot be taken in isolation, you can wrap them under the fairness factor. Based on peer and prevailing prices in the GTA for similar fare, the justification for their way over the top prices is lacking, hence unfair. A basic example is their simpke pansit bihon. The portion hardly fits for a regular male snack let alone lunch or dinner and is priced at $15. A box of this pancit which is about 3 to 4 times the size cost around $10. Kabalen's kutsinta works out at $1.50 a piece. I could go on and on and the conclusion is the same.

Everyone always enjoy the food. And this place is busy! we ordered lomi, krispy pata, and garlic fried rice. Krispy pata could be crunchier and juicier. Lomi is too runny (my filipino eating buddy dont quite like it). Garlic fried rice is simply a safe dish (nth can go wrong with it). Overall isnt as good as how we remember and not a quite satisfying experience (i.e. flavor-wise didnt 'hit the spot').

Staff are always nice, but I would say that service is slow. It took a while to get the servers' attention because the 1-2 servers were running around from table to table. Finally, we got the manager's attention as she was coming around greeting all the tables. During my last visit, my partner and I tried the Kare-kare dishes. We love how crispy the pork is, and paired with the peanut sauce, it was really good. Lots of tables inside and very spacious. When I had the kamayan, they accommodated my party of 12 people. The prices are pretty decent. Food is good and tasty, but we do wish that the food was hotter. Overall, we love Casa Manila and the food is always good.

The food took a while, we both ordered appetizers that didn't require any cooking and that took an hour. We got the cold sinigang and the mango salad for appetizers. We ended up asking for our desserts to go since we were there for more than 2 hours. The servers didn't explain to us why it was so slow. There were families waiting even longer than we did and they didn't look very happy. I wouldn't recommend this spot unfortunately.

I got the lumpia Shanghai that comes in 6 pieces and a sauce. It's pork spring rolls and they come in a small cute size, perfect two biters. Server was sweet when taking my order and asked me to take a seat to wait ten minutes or so while they fry it fresh. There's ample seating at the restaurant and they even had a robot waitress that goes around the restaurant delivering food. Overall, I loved the lumpia here and I ate so many of them before even getting home. Sweet and sour sauce that it came with was the perfect pair as well! Can't wait to be back to get some more next time.

The vegetable and the pork dishes were delicious. You have to come in early because the place gets busy on the weekends.

Lakay Kusina is a small Filipino restaurant . I was searching for a Filipino restaurant in the GTA…read moreone day, and lots of YouTube videos recommended this restaurant. The current owner Ariel took over the restaurant from his uncle just before the pandemic. It's already a good sign to know a restaurant survived that -- it must have its unique advantages. My first impression of this restaurant was that it made me feel very relaxed, as if I was truly in the Philippines, or on a tropical small island. Its decoration and the way it displays the food are casual and even a bit shabby, but still make me feel very comfortable, just like being at home. The restaurant plays 80's, 90's music. I heard it has karaoke from time to time, I do want to participate in that ! It has all kinds of authentic Filipino food, but our goal is only the Kamayan - Boodle Fight. I looked it up with AI, Kamayan means "use hands to eat", Boodle is just a lot of food, Fight is because you need to fight for your food. This feast is very appealing. All the ingredients will be spread on the table which is covered by banana leaves. The ingredients are colorful, the main proteins are seafood, like squids and fish . With a lot of boiled vegetables on the side. The rice is garlic rice and full of flavor. The restaurant will provide you with gloves to let you eat them with your hands. You can eat them directly or with their special sauce. The food is delicious, but what really stands out is the memorable combination of visuals and flavors. If you've never tried a boodle fight before, I highly recommend giving it a try .

The menu is simple but offers enough variety that you'll definitely want to come back and try more. The service was excellent as well--staff were friendly, welcoming, and made the whole experience even better. I tried the Ilocos Empanada and was pleasantly surprised--it was made fresh to order and packed with flavor. While waiting, you can enjoy a comforting cup of Beef Nilaga soup and sip on refreshing calamansi juice, which is such a nice touch. Overall, a really positive experience. I'd definitely come back, especially to try the Boodle Fight!

So much so that I'm finishing my second box of the night (#noshame). If their pancit is this good, I can't WAIT to try their other food! For the pancit alone, 5 stars!!

I've had bulakenyos before I even knew who they were at least 10 times and let me tell you, their lumpia is probably the best I've EVER HAD (2nd to my dad's cooking of course). The meat filling they use is highly addictive, it has the perfect crunch, and it comes in the perfect size. I always end up eating a good 15-20 pcs per round but even then I keep coming back with future meals. My friends even buy in large portions and freeze to make sure they've got steady stock on hand. Something to know about this place is that they mostly do party trays. They do have a small counter selection of takeout food, but their main focus and menu is the trays. I also had a chance to try their sago't gulaman which is a traditional Filipino drink perfect for hot summery days made with brown sugar, vanilla extract, water, tapioca and gelatin (I always assume it's grass jelly). I thought it was a bit too sweet but the portion was great, so I can't complain much. During my first visit to their shop, we ordered ~5 different medium party trays to be ready for the next early afternoon. The portion they served us was huge and we ended up with a lot of leftovers (which means more for me!). Highly recommend others check this place out! I would say it's a sort of hidden gem.
