I came out here based on my co workers recommendation, located in heartland mall area its a select food cash out and wait for it to dropped on your table similar to Paramound restaurant. I ordered tupsilog $7.50 chicken Mami soup $6.50 halo halo $6.00 Sugo $2.50 and 1 bbq stick for $2 As i waited for my food, i ate the bbq stick and it was really cold they should heat it up before they serve it. The Tupsilog was okay the mear was over cooked felt like i was chewing on beef jerky. The quantity of the food was quite small for $7.50 Mami Chicken soup oddly wasnt dropped at my table i had to go to counter to get it. It taste really bland required a lil more garlic. Halo halo for $6 was quite over priced and it was okay but if theure charging that they should real ube and not ube ice cream. Sugo was very tasty and was worth the $2.50 price point. Overall ill probably come back here to try some other things seating is ample and the enviorment is nice. Hoping they get their things on point and i can give them more Kudos. This is a definite second visit in the coming month since its close to my work. MABUHAY!!!

Small Filipino restaurant with a variety of Filipino food items including baked goods and desserts. It's pretty much a self serve you pick your food, pay and they will give you a number and you pick it up when it's done. Their is a counter full of condiments from Patis, soy sauce, and vinegar. Their is also water that you serve yourself. Caution the floors get pretty wet so walk carefully. As for the food it was really good. See the pictures I took, it really satisfies your Filipino craving.

    So good

3 star rating just for food . As soon as you walk in its a state of confusion no one sure who's taking your order . I could not find a menu and stood there for 25 min waiting on spring rolls . I did see some good food being served . Also noticed some customers complaning about there food. Unless you know what your getting don't even bother . Or just order pork spring rolls like me they are good and cheap .

This place has the ingredients to become the go-to sit-down spot for Filipino food in Mississauga. It's clean, has ample seating, classy decor, and a wide range of options on the menu. It's a great spot to take your parents for lunch on a Sunday (which I did), and you wouldn't be the only one - the place was packed on a Sunday around 12:30 PM. Unfortunately, a couple of things are lacking. First, there doesn't seem to be any crowd-control mechanisms in place to control the lineups that form at lunchtime. While my parents and I came just in the nick of time and grabbed a table before the crowds started arriving, it doesn't seem like anyone is really around to inform incoming guests that it's an X minute wait for a table, nor is there really a place to stand wait, so people are left walking around and standing beside your table, hovering, watching you eat, and waiting for you to finish up. Secondly, their Halo-Halo (dessert) was a 1 star. I pretty much paid almost $7 for ice. Very minimal toppings, zero sweetness, and the toppings that did come with it were hard and frozen. The food itself was delicious (beef tapa was fresh, perfectly marinated and crispy, just the way I like it! Fried Food is my middle name). Although, for the price, at almost $8 per plate, portion size was very, very small. Aside from that, the food was great. Overall, if they could work on their desserts and their restaurant logistics, and you don't mind the price point, these improvements could really make them a decent go-to sit-down restaurant for Filipino food in the west end.

Okay, Mississauga is so multicultural yet I really only see chain restos, Chinese, Japanese and Indian restaurants and some Middle Eastern restaurants. Yet there are very few Filipino restaurants even though there is a huge Filipino population. This place opened up in the Heartland Town Centre food area (i.e. Britannia and Latimer Road). Decor: 3/5 - very clean and modern Service: 2.5/5 - I came here during it's first week and there were a few kinks, which almost had me running out the door. While the cashier was very friendly, I was very apprehensive when I saw someone cleaning the place with a mop at around 5:30 pm. I figure most cleaning should be done at around 2-4 pm, when it's not prime eating time. The second thing was that when I ordered a combo, it took the cashier a while to figure out why their POS (point of sale) device wasn't sending the order to the kitchen. She then had to be told since it was a "combo", there's no need. Despite these two hiccups (which would scare me off if it were a long standing establishment), the cashier was very helpful in explaining what everything was. Food: 3.5/5 - okay I don't remember what I ordered. I believe it was chicken and pork adobo and some type of pork "sausage" with rice. The adobo tasted like a sweet curry chicken, which I thought was okay. However, I really loved the pork "sausage". I wish I could describe or compare it to something, but I can't. It was a good mix of sweet and salty. In addition, the rice was very fragrant. Verdict: It's very different than Chinese, Thai, and Indian food. It's not spicy. But it has similar curries but sweet. Try it out. Seems like it's good for takeout and would be great hangover food too.

Building on what Bernie mentioned in his review, I'm amazed at the lack of Filipino food options in Mississauga given its high Philippine population. When I was younger, I would frequently visit Something Sweet 4 U's other locations to get small baked goods in bulk, such as their mouth-watering empanadas. They've now progressed and opened a full-scale restaurant in a strip-mall plaza littered with other food options such as Wild Wing, California Sandwiches, and Marble Slab Bakery. It goes without question that the restaurant is popular among the Filipino population, but to be truly successful, the word has to spread a lot further. Why do I believe that this won't be a problem in the years to come? Because their food is good. Really good. My first visit to the restaurant was at 9:00am - I was craving a traditional Filipino breakfast. Their breakfast offerings consist of a variety of dishes that end in "-silog". This is a portmanteau of sinangag (garlic fried rice) and itlog (fried egg). So basically, the way it works is you pick your meat to go with your combination of fried rice and egg. All of these breakfast combos are priced at $6.50. I had the daingsilog, which consists of daing (milkfish), sinangag, and itlog. I was highly impressed with the presentation of the dish (check out my pictures to see what I mean). The food was very good - pretty much exactly what I expected. Daing was nice and soft with a crisp outer shell, just the way I like it. Portion size was also great for a breakfast combo. If I had one gripe about my experience, it would be that their bottled waters are frozen and barely drinkable. Nothing terrible, but just a small gripe. I still wait for the day that Mississauga can boast higher quality Filipino offerings akin to Lamesa downtown and Casa Manila in the northeastern GTA. Something Sweet 4 U's newest location doesn't fit that criteria, but it shows that Filipino food in Mississauga is headed in the right direction.

I am a regular customer of Somethin' Sweet. (Just coz' its that one Filipino restaurant that in the centre/heart of Mississauga) I would say that their dishes are okay. Sizzling sisig was not listed on their menu but they have it if you order it. Good for 2-3 serving ($11+tax). But can get a bit dry. Their 'all day breakfast' menu is fair. I always order tapsilog and its a fair serving. But for $7.50? + tax? Other filipino restaurant like LunchBox in Brampton has more serving and tastes better for $5.50. Empanadas & halo-halo are subpar. However.. I LOVE THEIR KWEK-KWEK (quail eggs coated with sweet & sour sauce). Costs $3 for 6pcs.

Chicken Afritada, Dinuguan and Garlic Rice

I've had better filipino food. I ordered the garlic fried rice with dinuguan, chicken afritada and sago to drink. The food was disappointing. It was warm and not hot and lacked in flavour. I had to put salt and pepper in everything. The sago was the only thing that was good here. The place itself is very spacious and very clean. Love the colours and how everything is set up. Wishing I loved the food just as much as the space itself.

I came right after typical lunch time but also it was during a Tuesday of March Break. There were some people there, a few families, a group of construction workers, and a few mama types just hanging around. the place is a lot more modern than some Filipino restaurants I've been too in terms of design... Let's call it ikea chic with shades of eggplant on the walls. I was craving some traditional filipino breakfast and this time I got a tocinolog (rice, egg, and sweet pork) it came with Achara (I'd say it's Filipino sauerkraut but it's on the more sweet vs sour side). I added a halo-halo drink to it... The food was good, I was filled and had to force down the last bit but only cuz it was so yummy and I was taught to never leave food on a plate. I find it odd that the halo halo cost almost as much as a the main meal but the drink was ok... Compared to quiapo quiapo though, even though it was cheaper, the quiapo version was a lot yummier

going to keep this one short. my garlic rice was dry, like stale dry. The meat was cold when it was served to me, so not sure what the deal was with that. my meal in general lacked flavor. The best part of my experience here, was the look of the place. it had the cutest and most modern decoration I have ever seen in any Filipino restaurant, but other than that, I won't be back unless I hear there food is better.

We ordered their Halo-Halo, Palabok and their Berto's Fried Chicken. Halo-Halo (5/5) is hands down the best summer dessert. It's so refreshing and had the perfect blend of sweetness and creaminess. They added the perfect amount of ube ice cream, caramel flan and a mixture of jelly, red beans and sugar palm fruit at the bottom. It's a must-try treat. Palabok (2/5) was okay. It was a bit dry and not as saucy as we would've preferred. It could use some chicharron (pork rinds). There's not much protein in this meal other than the boiled egg which was a let-down. We also noticed that some of the noodles have crisped up as well which must've been from the heat lamp/steam table. The dish could use some shrimp and topped with some fried garlic chips. Berto's Fried Chicken (5/5) was delicious. It was fresh, tender and juicy. It had the right amount of seasoning that didn't make it overwhelmingly salty. The garlic fried rice and fried eggs were a great combination with chicken. Any of their breakfast items have always been good.

For my main, I got the Chicken Inasal w/ Atsara. (It's got the name of the restaurant in it, so I really had no choice.) It's a very tasty dish consisting of a perfectly-cooked piece of chicken, a heaping pile of garlic rice, and a small, zesty coleslaw. Everything is really, really good, and it wasn't long before I cleaned my plate. And because we're pigs, we also shared a plate of the Sizzling Sisig ("Crispy Pork with Onion, Chili and Calamansi"). As advertised, this arrived to the table sizzling. It's a seriously tasty dish. The crispy bits of pork combine with the other components to create a completely addictive dish. I could see myself vegging out in front of the TV with this concoction. Bella's Inasal is a terrific little place. I'm really glad we checked it out.

We originally planned on going in early February. We meet up roughly every two months. One friend had to cancel. I was away during the long Family Day weekend. Instead, we rescheduled to the Saturday after the long weekend. I am the reservation booker in our group. I don't wait for someone to do it. It's an automatic instinct. I booked online twice. It was easy to cancel my first reservation and reschedule. You get a text message that confirms that your reservation is good or that your cancellation request went through. You also get a reminder a day before and an hour before your reservation. Nice! I had no problem finding a parking spot on Queen Street West, steps away from the eatery on the north side of the street. It's Green P parking, so I paid for three hours of parking through the app. I then started a new session for an hour because we tend to go over three hours when we dine as a group. It's such a great app and is convenient! One of my friends had arrived when I did. Moments later, our other friend made it. We all walked into the restaurant. The woman who greeted us knew my name from the reservation. It was nice to not say much! We got a nice table in the middle of the eatery. We ordered the following items: - To' silog with pandesal (me) - Bulalo (beef shank) soup - Barbeque - chicken and pineapple skewers - Sisig with steamed rice - Cava - Manila bay x 3 We got water to start. Our group tends to go for alcoholic drinks. We went with a bottle of cava, which was the best. It was fizzy, light, and enjoyable for brunch. I wanted a Filipino breakfast and went with the to' silog with pandesal. It had Filipino bacon called tocino that was pork belly. I love pork belly and liked how it was both slightly sweet and savory. I got two fried eggs, a light salad, and an orange wedge. It came with the fluffiest pandesal that I used to sop up the runny yolks. The garlic fried rice was amazing. Everything was delicious. One of my friend had the barbeque. I learned that barbeque means things on skewers that are barbequed. She got chicken and pineapple on skewers that came dangling from a pretty skewer holder with dipping sauce in the middle of it. She loved it so much. She saw my pandesal and my devouring it as if I hadn't had bread in my life that she got one. She understood how yummy it was. My other friend got the Bulalo (beef shank) soup. He was impressed that I knew the name of his dish. We have similar tastes. I like shank in soup. If I didn't have a craving for Filipino breakfast, I would have had this dish. He enjoyed it. It looked huge and hearty, especially with corn on the cob and other veggies in the soup. As we dined and chatted, I noticed an orange drink that the table next to us had. I asked our server what it was. It was Manila Bay. It had San Miguel beer, gin, calamansi, and honey. It was a traditional Manila drink. Our group said yes to a pitcher. It technical serves two, but we split it between the three of us to see if we liked it. OMG! This cocktail was delicious. We loved it so much that we ordered two more pitchers, so we essentially had one each when we were done. It was totally worth splurging to get it. It was refreshing and yummy. We didn't get any dessert. We were full from the food and drinks. Our alcoholic drinks were our dessert... haha! The washrooms are downstairs. It's an older building, so it's not great accessibility-wise. The washroom was clean and decent. Staff were so patient with us. We were the first group to arrive and the last to leave at around 4:30 pm. We got the bill split in three. All three of us paid with credit cards. I tapped and tipped. All was great. It's a fabulous place to enjoy authentic Filipino food and drinks with company. Everything was yummy and staff were great. I'd return in a heartbeat for more. Maybe we can do a kamayan feast (boodle fight eating with your hands) next time. (117)

Overall I was fairly satisfied with the food and wouldn't mind trying some of their other offerings. For some reason I was very excited to try this place so I ordered a bit more than I usually do. We did the prix fixe menu choosing the lumpia as our starter, adobo as our main, and a halo halo as our dessert. We also ordered the BBQ pork as this was highly recommended and the main reason I wanted to try Islas. The BBQ pork definitely met the hype as the meat was tender and flavourful. The lumpia (which is essentially a spring roll) was also great with its crispy exterior and flavourful fillings. The halo halo was solid as well. The adobo was the one thing I did not really enjoy much. It was ok but this is not the flavour of adobo that I personally enjoy. It was not bad but not the flavour I think of when I want adobo. The space was large and was dimly lit. It felt clean and spacious and the decor was alright nothing special. The service was ok. They took our order, brought our food and cashed us out. Really nothing especially good or bad. All in all I would definitely come back here for the BBQ and to try some of their other offerings. Glad I came here and tried it and would recommend the same to anyone looking for food in the area.

The mami ramen with grilled pork belly was calling my name. My intern knew that I would get it. I also eyed the halo halo, but needed to figure out how full I would be after eating the ramen. While waiting in line, a man came over with a bin of fried chicken skins and offered them to us. It was such a kind, generous gesture. I took a photo and then grabbed one. It was delicious. So good! The woman taking our orders was sweet. She was happy talking to my intern. The Filipino connection bonded them. She thanked him for bringing us over here, ultimately bringing her business. I joked that he is now VIP at this eatery. I ordered the ramen and grabbed a bottle of C2 apple green tea. I paid using a debit card. She took my name and said that she'd call me when my order was ready. My friend started with dessert. She got flan and was sharing it with everyone at our table. I didn't feel like dessert at this stage, but it did look creamy. I was sipping my C2 apple green tea. It was yummy. It wasn't overly sweet. I am a fan. I learned a few Filipino words while we were waiting: - Carinderia means canteen or cafeteria - Halo halo translates to mix mix, which is what you need to do when you get this dessert - Salamat means thanks The food came out one order after the other. I got my food in about fifteen minutes. That's not bad, but I was hungry. At first, the ramen portion looks small. However, it's incredibly deceiving. The noodles were chewy and perfect. You get a whole hard-boiled egg that is split in half. The grilled pork belly were generous portions that were thick and full of flavour. Speaking of flavour, that broth! It was so delicious. Unfortunately, the place ran out of metal spoons. My intern asked for a spoon on my behalf and we got plastic ones. They weren't meant for ramen noodles and broth, but they still worked out well. Two colleagues got halo halo for dessert. It has a bunch of goodies in it. My intern doesn't like the texture of halo halo, so he passed. Our other colleague who is Filipino, was hoping for ice cream in it. This one did not have it, but she said that it was good otherwise. The woman handling our orders came over to our table to thank us for coming. She apologized for the wait. We were all happy and loved our food. I let her know that the food was delicious, which made her day. There are hot food items available that are not mentioned on the menu. You have to look and ask what the food items are. They change daily. I'd come back here and try more food. I loved my food. Prices are reasonable. (41)

Cute little counter service place with the nicest lady at the front!…read more We ordered to-go and she offered us water as we waited as well as a sample of their deep fried chicken skin or pork skin? (Idk) but it was delicious. Best thing we had here was that Halo Halo!!! Soooo yummy and pretty! And the lady that made it was so proud of her creation, so cute! There's a piece of flan in the halo halo, which was delicious! And that ube mash. And the banana mash-thing... so good. The pork belly rice was pretty good - kinda what you'd expect from deep fried belly. Palabok was good i think? It just wasn't my cup of tea. Everything was very hot and fresh! I would definitely return to try their other items and get another halo halo, duhhhhh.
