Henry's is a basic Cafe. Their food is decent, service is great and wait times can vary.

I visit Tehachapi for work a few times a year, it's a great little town. Sadly, the Bakery was closed today so hit Henry's. Love the build your own omelette. Too much food and gies straight to my thighs. Waitress said "get the 1/2 next time" which I didn't know existed. 1/2 bread, 1/2 omelette/potatoes, and 1/2 price. Which would be ~$8. Tip your waitresses well! Henry's is the fire. read more

Took a ride to try this place and look around the area a bit. Sunday morning, so we had a 15 minute wait to get seated. I ordered the signature Green Chili omelette and he had the Huevos Rancheros. The omelette was delicious - the pork was tender and flavorful, I could have drank the green chili sauce. My husband enjoyed is HR with Christmas sauce - he enjoyed both sauces. Decided to grab a bite before we left Tehachapi and buddy of mine said try Henry's Café so let me tell you it was one of the best steaks I have had in a long time the service was beyond incredible. The ambience was perfect and I took a bite of his fried chicken and the baked potatoes were perfect. We went as a group of 8 and this restaurant was just big enough to accommodate us but in the back, unfortunately. The restaurant is clean and the staff was nice. The food was like any other diner. It's ok. But the wait on the food was almost an hour. Yes we had 8 people but I wonder if this is a typical wait time for this restaurant read more

We are new to the area and this was our first time here. We came for dinner and had an excellent trip tip dinner. The BBQ sauce was awesome! Splurged and tried the peach cobbler. Fantastic! So I had one issue a while back and was beyond frustrated. After many, many more interactions with them, which were all about THE BEST one could ask for, I remembered to say something good. I noticed my old review and removed it as they've more than proved me wrong. Their breakfast and lunch is always 150% fantastic! The chili verde omelette is still the best I've ever had. Hands down! Also the eggs Benedict is so good that I have trouble choosing between to two. The tostada salad is picture perfect every time and tastes as good as it looks. So far everything we've had has been great. And the service? I'd say it's second to none. Everyone is so friendly and they all take care of any table. They even wear t-shirts of other local businesses. They are now open for dinner. We went tonight and had a perfect night out. The ribeye was probably one of the best I've had in this town. The vegetables (string beans) were so good, I ate all of them. It was comfortable and felt like they'd been serving dinner since, forever. No hiccups for us at all. Waited for over 30 minutes for a burger, alot of waitresses but very difficult to get their attention, never came back to check on us for that 30 minutes and food was warm and average. Bathrooms were dirty with paper all over the floor. read more

Being hungry in a new to us location, I used Yelp to find Henry's Cafe with its 4.5 rating. So off we went. I called while on the way to ask if there was room in their parking lot for the 40' trailer we were towing. Oh yes they said. Oh no they don't. But I digress. Parking a ways away, we walked in to a nice cheery looking interior. Coffee was offered immediately (it was breakfast time). That was the last immediate activity we encountered. Our order was taken after giving us much more time than we needed. A simple order it was - eggs, bacon, home fries and a biscuit. 20 minutes later the food appeared. I can only assume it had sat under a warming light as everything was only slightly warm. The waitress was pleasant when she appeared, The problem was it didn't happen too often. One refill and then with the check (after I asked her for it). The food was fine other than being not being hot. The rating sure didn't match with our experience. read more

My husband ordered the eggs Benedict plate and he loved it. (We have found that ordering a "Eggs Benedict" meal is hard to come by in being done correctly to his taste. I myself had the "BBQ Tri Tip sandwich" with there homemade BBQ sauce to accompany it and crinkle cut fries. I injoyed it immensely. read more

Interior was clean and had a classic diner feel to it! We had to wait about 30 minutes on a Sunday morning. Service was good!! Food was pretty average at best! I was on my way to Mojave for work last week and since dining options are limited in Mojave I decided to look around Tehachapi on my way. I saw some good reviews for Henry's so I decided to drop in and give it a try. My oh my it was tasty. I'm a huge lover of eggs benedict and if you see some of my previous reviews I get a bit frazzled around Bakersfield because too often the eggs are overcooked and boarding on hard boiled. The poached eggs at Henry's were PERFECT. As soon as I cut into the egg that delicious golden yolk poured out over my benedict making me one happy customer. The hollandaise was really good too, my palate isn't super refined but it didn't taste like the thick packaged hollandaise you get at some places, it was really good, maybe made in house so another big thumbs up. I'd highly recommend Henry's to anyone in the area, I know I'll be stopping by again next time I have to travel to Tehachapi or Mojave. read more

Nice cafeteria in Tehachapi. Went here on a busy saturday morning on way to death valley. We had a hearty breakfast here. Food was very good. A variety of options to choose from on the menu. Service was a bit slow but acceptable for how busy it was. Servers were very friendly and made sure we got everything we wanted. Portions were reasonable, we were full and had no left overs. Traveling through.... Read other reviews and decided it was worth the small deviation from the route. Parking a little tight for our oversized vehicle.. the wait short, food was good. Very accommodating to minor modifications of our choices. Wait staff friendly and attentive. I could see it being more crowded than the steady flow of people coming through in the later morning hour this Monday. I'd go again. read more

I came for dinner after work, the Rib Eye sounded good so I thought I'd give it a try. The steak was incredibly salty. Even after scraping off all the seasoning. The staff didnt really ask how the food was, and didn't engage with the customers. I had a better experience once here at breakfast time. But I probably won't be back. It's almost as if the salt shaker lid came off when the cook was seasoning it. Good lord! read more

On a sunday we expected a wait--but only 15 minutes and we were called in. Then the wait began. We were served drinks quickly but there was a large party in the back--causing our food to take 64 minutes to come out--we were hangry by then. The waitress was nice but should have given us more frequent updates to assure us they hadn't forgotten us. Passing through to Sacramento, I saw a billboard with I believe a Tri tip sandwich and fries. So of course we had to stop there. Super easy to find when you plug in the address. It's right off the street. Parking right up front. Very welcoming when we arrived. Our waitress was new and she was super nice. We ordered (for kids) pancakes and macaroni. For my husband and I, we split the Patty Melt and Tri Tip Dip. Both great but I have to say the Tri tip dip is the way to go! Get it exactly how they make it. It's full of flavor!
