Originally stopped at the German Bakery/Deli on Tehachapi, but they don't serve breakfast. Henry's is definitely a breakfast place that the locals appreciate as well as the tourists. It's a tiny place with about 10-12 tables. But it is big on friendly service and generous quantities of home-style cooking. I ordered the 2x4 plate with scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage and pancakes. The bacon was cooked to perfection, eggs were light and fluffy, and the pancakes filled my plate. Hubby and I split the plate and had plenty. In fact, the chipotle mayo does well with just regular fries and those little sides come rather quickly if you're steady in conversation and chat. Kind faces can be expected here. Other customers are also friendly and the dining atmosphere feels smooth and easy for Tehachapi's rush hour. The parking lot gets pretty crowded near the coffee house and it's really a mark of appreciation by returning patrons for their speed of service and quick gesture of honesty. A lobby is fairly extended with interesting choice of decor, with signs that say "eat" or "Henry's". Breakfast burritos come in different flavors and ingredients where the entire city also showcases selections in the general breakfast item just mentioned. There's better confidence with Henry's Cafe for breakfast burritos because I'm close to the workers and am able to order sides and sauces for a perfect occasion next to a car wash location and an actual car repair shop. We're talking about a restaurant that's not only local but also safe within distance to resources maintained on a regular basis. I've had strips of bacon separate for one dining occasion under the dining of last year and my recent visit brought memories of Henry's Cafe and their visual takes on goods and basics of dining. read more

Went to Henry's Cafe for breakfast. This place is pretty crowded on weekends, this is a good sign. We were seated and promptly greeted by our server. 2 minutes later the coffees were on the table and we were ordering. I had the bacon and eggs with hash browns and toast (my standard go-to). I asked for the bacon and toast to be crisp. When I got my food a few minutes later... everything was exactly how I ordered it, crispy bacon and crispy toast. And the food tasted great!!! Overall a great meal and wonderful experience eating at Henry's Cafe. We will definitely be back the next time we're in town. read more

My parents and I were visiting Tehachapi for the day and found Henry's Cafe on Yelp. They nearly had a five star rating and I understand why. The greeters and waitresses were all very friendly! I had the chicken fried steak and eggs which was so tender I didn't even need to use a knife! My mom had steak and eggs and Pops had the French dip. All our food was hot, fresh & very tasty! I came here Sunday afternoon for a late breakfast. I ordered the eggs benedict & my friend ordered a veggie cheese melt. The servers were nice enough (until I had an issue), but overall were inattentive and despite the restaurant being mostly empty, our service was extremely slow. We were seated and sat there, menus closed, ready to order for 10 to 15 minutes before our server came up to the table. Then, from the time we ordered, to the time we actually received our meals, exactly 31 minutes had passed..... which would have been fine if we had been checked on, or if our drinks had been refilled, or if the restaurant had been busy. When I finally got my eggs benedict I took one bite and something about the sauce tasted horribly off & sour. It was absolutely disgusting and inedible. I asked my friend, and my server to taste the sauce and they agreed that indeed, it tasted funny. My server must have been new because she seemed to not know how to handle the situation and while my server was halfway panicking a more experienced, older server came up to me asking what was wrong. When I explained that the sauce tasted sour, she proceeded to tell me that "Since we go through so much benedict sauce, there's no way its spoiled." I corrected her and let her know what I meant by sour, explaining that the hollandaise sauce tatsed weird, like really tart, almost like lemony/milk and that to me, it was totally inedible. My original server offered to have them remake my meal (I declined), then the older, rude server chimed in & informed me, "There's no use in remaking it, all of the hollandaise sauce comes pre-made (in a bag), so I assure you its fresh & other people LOVE our benedicts." Meanwhile, on the other side of the table my friend didn't like her bland, tasteless food. The veggies on her sandwich werent fresh, the guacamole was obviously premade and the entire thing was lacking seasoning (even salt)....when she saw how poorly my complaint was handled she just decided to pay for hers and we left because we didn't want any more confrontation. Overall, 100% DO NOT ORDER EGGS BENEDICT AT HENRYS. This was a terrible experience and not the first time I have had issues at Henrys..... I don't really like writing negative reviews but due to my love of food & lack of eggs benedict options in Tehachapi, I felt inclined to post this review. Hopefully this helps someone avoid making the same poor food choice that I did & hopefully no one else will get met with rudeness when they don't like their food. read more

Stopped by on our way to Vegas. Kids ordered off the kids menu, chicken strips with fries, cheeseburger sliders and fries. Adults ordered chili size with fries, cheeseburger and fries.
