I used to come here as a kid; I'm happy to know they're still solid for juicy burgers. When I say juicy burgers I mean put the napkin in your lap, and enjoy the ride Hennessey's will send ya on once your stacked burger arrives. I ordered an Irish burger with fancy bacon, fried onions, and Irish cheese, he got a burger with Bleu cheese. We both ate in silence despite the music jamming around us, wolfing down and savoring every last bite. I uhm. I barely ate my fries that burger was so filling. They had me at Bloody Mary. And for 7.50, it was meant to try it out. We walked around Main Street looking for someplace for lunch and ended up here. Saw the open patio as we had the little pup with us. Noticed the hostess cleaning one of the tables and asked here if it was ok to have our pup with us. Of course she said, which we later seen that so many people would pop in with their fur babies. We checked in which there was about 4 other parties ahead of us. We were wanting the patio seating which they had plenty of seating but still had to wait for a table. It was about a 10 minute wait or so. They were going by the sign in sheet. Hostess was quite sweet and friendly. We got seating which there with plenty of seating still available. There was also hi top bar seating where it seemed like it was first come first serve seating. Menu for the place looked quite interesting. They had breakfast but it was only served till a certain time. Of course the reason we stopped in here was for the Bloody Mary deal we saw for 7.50. Not sure if it's all week or only on for the weekend. Found out that it goes on till 5:30 I believe. Of course we had to try it out. It was a pretty decent size and extra spicy how we like it. Adorned with celery stick, pickle slice, pearl onion, olives and perppercini. For the price, it was quite nice. I thought they would have just used the premixed but it was quoted that each one was made specifically. Quite tasty I must say. Entrees, we just went for a salad. The poke salad on top of mix spring greens was excellent. Nice full chunks of poke in a nice glaze and served with dressing on the side. Portion wise was massive for the price. And the Cobb salad. Your classic with all the usual toppings. Grilled chicken with bacons, tomatoes, avocado, eggs blue cheese crumbles and black olives. Food was nice. Nothing major but they were great. We did also order a side of fries which never came out but later didn't see it on the bill. Waitress must have not heard us ordering it. It was fine. The food was great and service was nice. Our second visit since we started our visit in SoCal. Parking in the tea is pretty tight. We were able to get a spot in their lot, even though a couple of large pickups made it even tighter! I decided on their California Citrus Salad with Salmon while my wife had a bowl of tomato bisque while splitting a basket of house chips. Delicious! Our sever/bar tender was lovely and friendly! I was really excited to show my friend how good the smash burger is, but after giving it such a strong recommendation, I ended up disappointed. Not sure why I could not be seated in an adequate seat. Waiting for a tiny table to be cleaned and instead of being able to sit in it, was offered a smaller bar seat facing people watching the game which I'm sure they would have been happy having me block their view while I ate my food inches from them. I was directly told no when asked about the table I was standing at "no I'm giving it to these 2 people" who walked up after I had already been there. I understand trying to seat everyone on a busy day but come on. This is 2nd time I am finding an inconsistency in the customer service here. I would probably not have posted this had another person not been also complaining about being passed up and had been waiting. I hate when places start thinking they are so popular they can lose customers from bad customer service and it won't make a difference. It's sad when you have 50% good customer service and then the rest that could care less. And before I get some response about it being a busy day due to the big game, the table I was waiting for was almost in the doorway clearly a last resort table. Would I have minded waiting for a spot? No. But why would I since it was only me, clearly my patronage was less valued than everyone else with 2 people or more. How sad. The server couldn't have cared less. It was that crappy bar stool or nothing. Considering even with specials, the minimum spend per person is $30 and up, I guess it's all about maximizing $$ and my $$ aren't enough. Highly recommend! Came here during lunch break with coworkers. Hennessey's Tavern serves American food; burgers, soup/salad, and sandwiches. I ordered the burger of the month, it was the BBQ Brisket Pretzel Burger ($19.75). It comes with a side of fries. It was super massive and delicious. I highly recommend this burger if you love meat. They have a small parking lot but i assume it's small. There's lots of parking space in the steet but it's all full and usually have to get lucky to find a space. Also not sure how seatings work here. We entered the restaurant, no one greeted us, so we just sat down at a table. Servers have to keep a keen eye out for new customers that sit down at the tables without them knowing. Interior is roomy and has cool decorations. read more

So we were out to grab a bite to eat and the live music won me over. The dude performing was amazing and took all of our request. We grabbed some drinks and got the French Fry sampler. This was a first for me, but the plain fries and aioli was my favorite. Not to say the garlic fries and spicy fries weren't great as well. For my main I got the steak and shrimp and it did not disappoint. I got my steak medium and it was cooked just right. The mash potatoes and greens were a great pairing and it capped of a nice meal. Today is Memorial Day, 5/26/25. We came in at the perfect time, which was about a1pm. Got seated right away. Now the place is filling up. Great atmosphere. Today we had the Fish and Chips- excellent. Three hearty fish sticks... and fries. Also had the Chicken Club on Sourdough. Hubby said it was very good. It comes with house made chips, and if you want to upgrade to fries instead, it cost $2.00. I visited today on a very personal and emotional anniversary, hoping to sit at a table that holds a meaningful memory for me. I quietly explained this to the hostess and asked if it would be possible. Even though I offered to order enough for a larger table and there were other open tables available, I was told no. When I asked if management could reconsider, the response felt dismissive and lacking any empathy. I understand restaurants have policies, but kindness and compassion don't cost anything. Today was already a difficult day, and the way this was handled made it even harder. This is a nice little tavern in Old Town Seal Beach. They open early for breakfast. Lunch items are available at 11am. Check out the specials. You'll be happy you did. I had the Thursday Smash Burger with fries. It was a double burger with bacon and grilled onions. This was an amazing burger, one of the best I've had in a while. The fries were crispy just how I like them. They even brought a side of Ranch for my fries. All this for only $7 wow. The service is really good. Instead of the usual $3 upgrade, I was told I had to pay full price, $19, for the same burger everyone else was getting for $7. Meat costs more than a veggie patty, so the math ain't mathin. Old management allowed the Beyond upgrade. Charging extra for not eating meat feels less like a policy and more like a punishment. Cute look. Love supporting local, but it should go both ways. If you're looking for super mediocre food and absolutely horrible service, this is your place. I got an ice cold burger with ice cold fries, if you could call them fries. It was a little teeny tiny pieces of burnt potato. The service is horrible and is compounded by the manager, holding court at the end of the bar with all of the servers. At one point, there was a total of eight people standing at the end of the bar. He's back there drinking a Red Bull, having conversations on his mobile phone when he's not occupying the servers while simultaneously ignoring the patrons. If you expect to get silverware or napkins with your order, be prepared to be disappointed. I reached over the bar and grabbed a handful of cocktail napkins to wipe my mouth. It's a shame because it seems like a decent place and the location is great, but this is the second time I've had the exact same experience. There's nothing so unique about that place that you can't get up and down the street at other places. I might try again in a year or two. We ordered three right off the bat: a vodka with a splash of cranberry, a Jameson on the rocks, and a beer from the $7 special. The first round was poured just right -- standard glasses, standard pours, nothing to complain about. The second round, though, came in what looked like oversized shot glasses filled nearly to the brim with ice -- the kind of pour that makes you double-check if they forgot half the drink. Came here to catch up with a friend I hadn't seen in 20+ years. When we walked in, the front window tables were full, with one party of 2 finishing up. Additionally there were plenty of other 4-6 top tables throughout the restaurant. When we were seated, we were taken to a 2 top all the way in the back near the bathroom. The 2 tops there look like they serve the purpose of a waiting area for the bathrooms during busier hours, not to sit and drink or dine. A minute after being seated my friend told me she wished to be seated near a window. I saw the party of 2 at the 6 top table that had been finishing up in the front was leaving. I kindly went to the host, explained I was there with a friend I hadn't seen in a long time and asked to sit there, as no one else was waiting to be seated. He said we couldn't sit there, only at a bar, which neither of us wanted. He gave no reasoning. I decided our money was better spent elsewhere, so we walked over to Avila's where we were treated respectfully and given the choice to sit wherever we wanted. No food or drink was consumed at Hennessey's. My advice to management: customer accommodations should be considered for a better turnout. Also maybe ditch the bathroom front 2 tops. read more

The service from everyone was great! You ask...they deliver. Based on recommendation, we tried the bbq brisket burger which had slices of brisket, fried onions, lettuce, tomato and beef patty cooked to your liking. The burger itself was good, meaty and juicy (that's what she said), but the burger patty that was cooked to medium tasted a bit bland and under seasoned. Not to say I like a lot of salt, but just a bit more would've kept me satisfied until the end. Each burger comes with choice of fries or can upgrade to other choices. I doused some malt vinegar on the fries and it was great. The corned beef sandwich was good but could use more meat and sauerkraut. It comes with chips. The Nachos were different than what we SoCal ppl are used to. They're thinly sliced potato's laid out on a plate with nacho toppings. It's good, but I think the potato could be crispier. Enjoyed our Sunday day towards the Evening. Sat in the patio overviewing bystanders on the street. The ambiance was great. Ordered Nachos, Chicken wings and some cold beer. All were tasty. As the evening night continued, karaoke was presented. It was rather entertaining. Big Kudos to our waitress Makayla! Her personality was great! Made our stay worth while.
