I'm surprised this place is still in business. It's mediocre at best, and Flaming Buffet next door is probably a better spot for AYCE in general. I'm not sure what it is about this place, but the mayo ratio in the food is just too high. I lose my appetite long before getting full from a strange aftertaste in any of the items that use mayo. The service speed varies on how busy they are as well as how big your party is, so if you're coming in with 6 big eaters, at peak dining hours, expect the food to trickle in little by little at a rate that will likely sneak up on you. It's easy to accidentally over order here because of this. My issue was the gagging sensation I'd get when eating anything with mayo in it. Maybe it's the brand or mix ratio. It's hard to say. I'm not sure if I'm impressed by this sushi spot or not....I ordered because they delivered pass 12midnight. I ordered a sashimi & sushi plater. The salmon was VERY SLIMY & SMELLY. The ebi also smelled very fishy. While I ordered the sushi plater , it said 6 & I was only given 5. I specified on the uber instructions that if I could be pleased with expecting extra wasabi(my fave) & ginger buttttt, I was given sauces that were not asked or requested for. The presentation of each plater was very messy! & just everywhere , I had to basically prepare my own sushi. I was only given one wasabi & ginger for the sashimi & sushi I ordered ! That's ridiculous and absurd. I should not have ordered from this place so late...I'm sure their AYUCE sushi is better than delivery.... This is my second time coming here and I'd definitely recommend sticking mostly to the sashimi -- especially the Cajun salmon sashimi. That one smacked the most. So flavorful and honestly the main reason I'd come back. Their carpaccio is also really, really good, but just a heads up -- it's limited to one order per person and not included as unlimited. They do offer all-you-can-eat. As far as rolls go, the only ones I personally enjoyed were the rainbow roll and the Philadelphia roll. I also like getting their miso soup and baked mussels. For sashimi, I usually go with salmon, tuna, albacore, shrimp, and eel. The menu is very extensive with a lot of choices and specials, and the prices are reasonable. They're also open until 2:00 a.m., which is a plus. The staff is very nice. They weren't super attentive, but it was a Friday night and they were busy, so it's understandable. It would've been nice to get refills on our water and soda without having to ask, though. One thing I will note -- the bathroom was pretty messy and not very clean. After walking through the double doors and getting the kids measured (is everyone switching to the height stick nowadays?), we were seated in a Japanese style single row booth. Server puts down the AYCE sheet and we start happily marking away. Drinks come soon after and now we wait. So far so good...then the platter from sushi hell (or heaven depending on how hungry you are) arrives. Our table is immediately covered in shmorgasboard of nigiri, sashimi, and fried skewers. What's the matter you ask? We're a family of 4 (2 kids) and they just doubled our order size. We did the best damage we could but half is still left over. We call the waitress and explain that there's been a mistake...we are not trying out for an eating competition in February. The waitress says hold on and goes to the back akin to negotiating the car price down at a dealership...except this is for higher stakes, the dreaded 'leftover sushi' tax to the tune of $1/piece. Luckily, we meet in the middle at $13 and we can have a togo box. All in all, quality wasn't too bad, def not the best AYCE I've had and the servers were nice. Still, I was left unsatisfied (from doing mental gymnastics on how to dispose of all the leftover sushi) and wanting for more (money in wallet). Next day I open the togo box, 'Hello Sushi' I say as I am prepared to reap the awards of my successful negotiating from the night before...except the sushi has turned. Nice atmosphere, they have pretty string lights and an inviting color palette. They're open late on weekdays, which is why we chose this restaurant since other sushi places were closed. Huge shoutout to the hostess because she was doing that job and being everyone's waitress too. I ordered the rainbow roll and it was good. The only problem is that it had shrimp on it even though the description didn't mention it. I am allergic so it was an inconvenience, but I was just able to take the shrimp off and eat the roll without it. Admittedly if you look closely in the picture on the menu, there is shrimp but it is hard to see since the photo is small. I didn't mention my allergy since I'm fine with cross contamination, but I would hate for the not as detailed description be an issue in the future for someone with a more severe allergy. So I just hope they edit it. The price is pretty good, less than fifteen dollars for a meal. They also have candies in bowl that you can take when you leave, which I think is a nice touch. How did this place get so many positive reviews? For a sushi restaurant in OC, it's merely okay. We were nearby for an event and wanted to eat at a nearby sushi restaurant. We saw the positive reviews and made our decision to give it a try. My family got the Alaskan roll, tempura udon, and bento box. The roll was overstuffed with the filling and so big that it took many bites to eat one peace. I was pretty disgusted by half of the roll. The bento box's chicken was dry. And the servers thought that the udon only needed the tempura topping, we had to insist that tempura udon came with assorted tempura items, not just fried crumbs. All in all, the restaurant was nearby and the food was quick. But I would NEVER go out of my way to eat here. My advice, eat here if you want Japanese food that is okay. read more
