Food was absolutely WOW I can see why the ratings here are so high. All rolls were nice and freshly prepared and more than met expectations! The ambiance is nice and slow going. Very casual. Just do keep in mind that if you come here you will end up leaving smelling like the cooked food which I personally don't love but it's the name of the game. Waiter was nice and friendly and gave us good recommendations on the yellowtail carpaccio. read more

Terrible service and negligent atmosphere. Walked in to place a to‑go order and there was no one at the register. The restaurant only had three tables occupied; the rest of the place was empty. There was one waitress and two sushi chefs working. I finally got help from a cleaning staff member, who told the waitress to assist me. She came over, told me to fill out a form, and then walked away. After waiting 10 minutes, a group of three walked in and she immediately helped them--telling me to keep waiting--then proceeded to give them a full welcome speech and menu explanation. How is this acceptable? Taking a to‑go order is not more difficult than seating and serving three people. read more

This place used to be one of my favorite sushi spots, which makes this experience even more disappointing. While eating inside the restaurant, I saw a cockroach in the dining area. That immediately raised serious concerns about cleanliness and food safety, especially for a place serving raw food. The experience completely ruined my appetite. I won't be returning unless major improvements are made. Management needs to address this immediately. read more

Got sick eating here with my husband. The food was low quality and the service was lacking. Save yourself the $100 lunch date and don't be deceived by the reviews. Upon entering the establishment the smell of the space was not pleasant. The host advised of the menu options and convinced us to get the premium option which was not worth it since we didn't make it past the first round. We both felt sick but figured we may have over eaten but that was not the case, since we had leftover pieces that we got charged $1 a piece for. It's been over two days and still throwing up nori. The rice tasted funny and the sushi cuts looked like scraps. The waitress never came to pick up the check or give us refills on our drinks and even offered sauces that she forgot to bring and then offered it again only to bring it close to finishing the meal. The server was great!! Her name was Kim. She was super attentive. Very bubbly and humble. Made us feel very comfortable. Now the food- Tempura was great. Nice and freshly made no old oil. Didn't hurt my stomach. Dragon baked Scallop thing was a complete mess. Failure. Not that tasty or well put together. I've had it from other places and this one wasn't enjoyable. Only had a few bites. The eel roll was great. Good flavor, tightly wrapped. Tempura roll was too big and thinly sliced. With not enough tempura. Roll fell apart easily. Edemame was plain but good. My husband and I were looking for a place to eat since we had been on the road for a while heading to Anaheim. We found this 24-hour sushi spot in Fullerton and we immediately liked the vibe as soon as we walked in. It's located in the middle of town, so a lot of young college students frequent this establishment, but we didn't mind. The music they were playing was good and the staff were friendly and warm. It wasn't the best sushi I've ever had, but it was definitely worth the price. There's three separate options for 'all you can eat,' and my husband and I chose the second option, which was $39.95 for select items on the lunch and dinner menu. We were in the mood for sushi and decided to go to Hello Sushi since it was so close in our area with a 4.3 star rating! Thousands of great reviews! Nothing could go wrong, right? I wish I had read more into the reviews and seen the one star ones.. I feel like they're definitely more true to our experience.. First walking in, there was no one at the register to greet or help us. We ended up standing around for at least 10 minutes until we were tended to. Looked like there was only 1 server who was also bussing and hosting, 2 chefs, and a mostly empty restaurant.. The chefs saw us and made no effort to let anyone know that we had been waiting to be seated.. We were just about to leave to another spot until the server noticed us, and now I REALLY WISH we had left. The eel we ordered was old and hard as a rock. All the uni nigiri was an odd, dark color.. And tasted like it had been sitting out for awhile at least.. A lot of what we ordered, especially the scallop and blue fin tuna, was VERY fishy and old.. Have been visiting this spot a few times and came back with some friends! The sushi here is absolutely delicious, great quality and price all around, the sever Erika was very attentive, quickly got us what we needed and very knowledgeable of the menu! She's absolutely awesome and so was the guys behind the sushi counter :). I definitely recommend this place. Wow what an incredible ambiance! This feels like a trip to modern Japanese market or fun restaurant. I live the lighting and k-pop bumping in the background. They have both all you can eat and à la carte options. It's not the best quality sushi, but it is good and makes for a fun time. Absolutely delicious food! All other AYCE places have abominable wait times...1-2 hours on weekends as we all know. Walked in here on a Saturday night and was seated immediately! Greeted by such personable and great hostesses, I knew we stumbled upon something great. The food was incredible. I'd definitely recommend getting the OMG Roll, Flower Roll, or Giant Salmon Roll as those were some of our favorites. Food came out very swiftly and the servers were always very attentive and hospitable. I love the decorations of this restaurant and the layout was very cute and fun! This was some of the worst sushi I've ever had. The fish did not taste fresh, and there was an overwhelming amount of rice in nearly everything. I was especially disappointed because the restaurant had such high reviews, so I came in expecting a much better experience. Instead, the meal completely ruined my appetite and left me feeling sick toward the end. I couldn't even finish my food and had to ask for the check immediately. Sushi was solid in general. I've gone to a good number of AYCE places and it's rare to find any place that's notably better than the others. The service however was by far the best I've gotten in a while for any kind of restaurant. They were very attentive but without being intrusive. Plates cleared quickly, food came out at a good pace, they answered questions clearly, and they have big water cups so I don't need refills all the time. It was great! The place itself is also clean and neat. They have music playing but it's not too loud where you can't still talk. A lot of their booths are setup to feel isolated and more private. I prefer this to many of the normal, open restaurant patterns. 10/10 will be back again. It was also $32 for the lunch menu, which even applied on the weekend, which is a reasonable for what I see in the area these days. read more

Workers are constantly checking up on you which is super nice. Very private booths which is a plus. Good background music. Menu is so versatile! The sushi itself is pretty good quality and good fish to rice ratio (little rice)! Nope. In fact on Weekends they charge dinner prices. Haven't been back to Hello Sushi since we found the great place in San Diego. Also some of their employees don't wear face masks as you can see my previous Yelp review regarding this!!

They gave me a literal small side of noodles and that's it. The meal I originally bought came with rice, a salad, a dumpling etc. I also didn't get the edamame, or the fried San Diego! All around- I felt bad for the young man who was so embarrassed and ultimately put in the middle. He said it was wrong what they're doing but ultimately this place was going back on what they should do to make it right. I didn't make a scene or argue, I opted to never come back. I think things like this show the character of an establishment and it is what it is.
