Tempura
Kenny Y.

Hello Sushi Brea! I placed an order to go where I ordered a 3 item bento dinner and a medium sushi sampler. My order was ready in about 20 mins. I went in the restaurant for a pick up and I couldn't find the staff there. The restaurant is small, but very nicely decorated inside. Finally after 5 mins, I went to the sushi counter and picked up my food. I enjoyed my bento box very much, teriyaki chicken was on point, salmon was fresh and delicious, tempura was crunchy, though it can be a bigger portion. My 10 piece sushi sampler was a nice fresh selection, but I've definitely had better. I would love to try the ayce next time!

Went on Thurs 10.02, at 7:30pm and the place was empty. We're the only 3 people inside. How and why they remain open until 2am is surprising to me. Food quantity and quality was poor. Been here before and the sushi burrito had more filling, now it's a skinny sushi burrito. The crispy albacore roll DID NOT match the photo and barely had any crunchy onion on top. In the past it was actual friend onions, now these come from a bag! Service was poor. Waiter did not come check on the table and I had to call for him out loud to get his attention since he was chit chatting with the sushi chef, which I didn't like. Stingy on napkins and soy sauce packets. Disappointed at the recent dine in experience.

Round 1! And so much more, even after this for an outstanding price!!

I have been to many sushi places, but this place is an absolute gem!!! I went there for the first time and did the all you can eat. Many many generous portions, many items to choose from. Three rounds, outstanding!!! our host was so nice, caring and brought our food in a timely manner. This is an excellent place for date nights, families and much more. I will only be coming here in the future. A wonderful experience. I highly recommend this place to anyone if you love sushi. You will not be disappointed, will be very happy and a returning customer!!!

!! AYCE !! ALL YOU CAN EAT IN THE PLACENTIA / BREA AREA - we had our family christmas day dinner here and it was amazing! Our server Eileen was abousultly phenomenal. She was very patience with us and help us learn and understand the menu. We ordered everything rolls, mussels, miso soups ,wraps and appetizers. It was all so tasty and so fresh. They accommodated our large group and attended all us of so nicely! Thank you for treating us to a warm welcome! Hello Sushi!! 5 STARS

Tempura was delicious

Best value are the bento boxes. For $2 more you can select 3 items. I chose chicken teriyaki, mixed tempura and Cali rolls. I was stuffed. I ate it all. The chicken teriyaki could use more teriyaki sauce and the vinegar cucumbers can use a bit more sugar. It was too vinegary, imo. I liked the mixed tempura. It was light in color not overcooked like some other places. Clean and spacious restaurant. Service was on point. Plenty of parking. Go give them a try.

Fantastic sushi, fantastic service, excellent pace. Love the AYCE selection and I am excited to return every chance I get

Came here after being told about it by another sushi restaurant that was closing as we pulled up due to an electrical issue! Service was quick, food was amazing! I recommend the strawberry lemon roll and the in n out roll. Delicious rolls, would come again and due the all you can eat option so that we can get even more! Not one dish was bad.

First time at Hello Sushi Brea and we were impressed! The staff was friendly and knowledgeable -- our waitress explained the AYCE process and kept things moving smoothly. We did two rounds of AYCE and especially loved the baked rolls. They came out warm, fresh, and full of flavor. The atmosphere was lively but not too loud, and parking was super easy (always a win). Great service, delicious sushi, and an overall fun experience. We'll definitely be back!

Amazing portions and service the food is so good! The general restaurant is clean and organized! Love this place

One of the best sushi places in town! They always dress up our orders so well, and the service is great. Cozy and homey atmosphere, I always have a great time at Hello Sushi, and my family loves to come back.

We've been here multiple times and really enjoyed the sushi, but tonight we had really hard sushi rice that didn't taste fresh at all. Great selection of our favorite sushi and good appetizers/kitchen items. We love this place because they open late and have good quality fish! Our favorite are the Cajun escolar, unagi, and scallop! We'll give it some time before coming back, and hope the rice is better.

We were told to choose one sauce to go with our meals. I went with a shrimp bowl and ginger sauce. We sat down and were chit chatting. The cashier brought our sauces and forks. Then we waited and waited and soon it had been over 30 minutes with no food in sight. We decided we couldn't dine in and would be eating hibachi at our desks. I told the cashier to pack our food to go cause we had to get back to the office. She was VERY apologetic and said they had new cooks who were slow. When she brought the food to our table, she again apologized, said she really wanted us to come back, and said Tuesday and Wednesday are their busiest days. She recommended we come on a Monday so we would have more time to dine in. To compensate she gave us a bag filled with at least 20 sauces, multiples of each sauce on the menu. Made it back to work with 5 minutes to spare! I slowly grazed on my food as I worked. Had I been starving, I could have finished the bowl, but I ended up having about 1/4 left, breakfast for tomorrow! The food was really good, on par with any sit down hibachi restaurant. I tried the ginger sauce, teriyaki sauce, and garlic butter, all of them were really tasty. The shrimp bowl on it's own is $23, which I think is too much. But I would definitely go back for the 2 for $25 deal, I think that's worth it. Glad my coworkers brought me here, i'm looking forward to having it for lunch again!

This place is located directly next to Bodhi coffee shop on Yorba Linda Blvd just east of Lakeview…read more Arrived here just after 12pm on a Monday. They have the Jiro ramen only on Mondays and I had no idea what that was. We ordered one regular $17 (large is $20 and gigantic) and also ordered a miso ramen. The jiro ramen noodles are totally different. They are a darker brownish colored wheat noodle and thicker than regular ones. It has a nice chewy texture. We opted for no garlic base since some reviewers said it was really strong. They give you a choice to choose fat back in the soup to make it extra rich and also a choice for more or less vegetables. The charsiu pork in this soup is also different than the miso soup. Omg it's so tender, juicy and flavorful. The fat on it is so good and the pieces are thick. Whereas the pork on the miso ramen is thinner, your usual charsiu pork slices, which is more lean but not juicy like the jiro ramen pork. I loved the texture of the thin noodles in the miso ramen as well. The soup base had a garlic taste to it and was accompanied by the bean sprouts and bamboo type vegetables. We also tried the smaller order of the chicken karaage, which was 3 pieces of larger sized pieces. Not small, like your typical karaage. There was lack of flavor so the mayo based dipping sauce helped. Service was great and the lone waitress did a great job in serving, seating, and billing the customers all by herself. Great place!

But I went there due to convenience of grocery shopping and stopping by hand roll (especially since it's located inside the market). I usually don't leave reviews, but the experience at this place was so bad that I had to write one…read more I have been here 1 time before when it first opened, and the food was mediocre. I wanted give this place a 2nd try since I had good handrolls at other places. I came at 1:30 pm, restaurant is small with 10-12 seats, the place was empty, plenty of openings, only 2 other customers already seated. There were 4 workers there. After waiting for 15 minutes, I asked if I sitting down at an empty spot. One of workers (chef) told me I had to wait until her boss seats me. After another 10 mins of standing my knee started to hurt from an previous injury, so I decided to sit a side corner while waiting to be seated. The boss lady told I can't sit there because she was not ready to serve me yet. I told I her I had a bad knee and needed to sit down while I wait. When they were ready to sit inside, the boss lady told me, "No, you are sitting in this corner." I ordered the omakase menu which included 5 special hand rolls. The boss lady was extremely upset and yelled at the staff in the kitchen. There was this one worker who was washing the dishes, and she yelled at him and said: "why are you taking so long to wash these dishes, it should not take this long." She essentially shoo him always and took over his duties and was frustratedly slamming the dishes in the sink. She demanded another worker to quickly dry the wet cups. Then she started to yell at the chef because there were 3 separate serving bottles of green tea, rather than being in one. She started yelling at the chef saying: "you are lazy, you have to stop doing that. I am going to put cameras in here, and make sure you do it correctly." This was unfortunate, because I was getting upset at her for her poor treatment of your staff. The restaurant was not even busy to treat her employees that way. I was glaring at her the whole time and it took away the eating experience at the restaurant. All the other workers and chef were pleasant and nice, I think they knew I was upset and tried give me good customer service by talking to me, asking how the food was, and joking to calm me down. I spoke to the chef and asked: "Is that your boss? If it is, I am sorry, I fell bad for you guys. This brings down the customer dining experience." He just smiled and didn't say anything. Overall, (1) the food continues to be mediocre even with its omasake special; (2) the chef and other staff were great, tried their best to please their customers; (3) the boss lady was the whole reason why I had a horrible customers experience, she yelled, demeaned, micro-managed at her staff in front the customers while eating. Very unprofessional. This restaurant does not want me to come back. I am sorry. I hope this review will make some changes for the benefit of the staff.

I always start off with the Blue crab appetizer that's wrapped with salmon on the outside and asparagus. Their sushi rolls are all solid here--I can't recommend the signature Chubby roll enough. And if you're feeling adventurous, they even have Tuna bone marrow shots which are actually such a nice palate cleanser! And, of course, the star of the show is the Chubby sashimi platter.
