Strolling in early on a Saturday afternoon, I grabbed a seat at the window counter and kept the order simple: house bahn mi (ham, pate, pork roll with cilantro, carrot, daikon, and mayo on a crusty baguette) and an iced Vietnamese coffee. I do not recommend this place. Whenever I try new Vietnamese restaurants, I start with a Pho Ga (chicken pho) and/or Bun Thit Nuong (vermicelli bowl with grilled pork) because it's hard to go wrong with either one and is difficult to mess up. Somehow, this place butchered both. Not sure where to start. My pho noodles and my vermicelli noodles were both chopped up / broken up for some reason. Just as Italians don't break their pasta before cooking it, you shouldn't break your noodles. The pho broth was sub par, meat was dry, and there were untraditional vegetables added--cabbage, broccoli, and bok choy-- which I didn't ask for. My vermicelli noodles were both overcooked and broken up and were a ball of mush once the fish sauce was added. I suspect they didn't strain it in cold water to wash off the water it was cooked in, giving it an unsavory texture and causing it to continue cooking after being removed from the heat. To top it off, the shredded lettuce that came with it was wilted/yellowing. Altogether, I will not come back here and recommend you try another place. read more

The vegetables weren't authentic Vietnamese style and the rice noodles were more like Italian vermicelli. We got way more noodles than anything else. I noticed how accommodating they all were to the other guests. Ambience: Love the Vietnamese music in the background, really made me feel like I was seating at one of the restaurants in Vietnam. Also all the Vietnamese speaking from the kitchen staff and the workers there really made me feel like I'm getting authentic Vietnamese food lol Covid safety: even though there wasn't a divider, I was sat away from other guests so that made me feel at ease. Crispy wrapper on the outside, soft chew biting down to a tasty filling, and a mound of fresh lettuce and mint to wrap the roll before dipping into a sauce. I went to Hello Saigon around 7 pm on a Thursday. There was no wait and we were seated immediately. The staff was attentive and took our order as soon as we were ready. I got the beef lemongrass vermicelli and my dining partner got the sauted chili lemongrass chicken. I really enjoyed the beef - it was flavorful and it was a generous portion of meat. I tasted the chicken as well, which was not as flavorful as we would have liked. Overall it was a filling and tasty meal. Actually, up until the point when we left the restaurant, I would have given it 4 stars. It wasn't until I was at the boba shop nearby that I realized I didn't have the credit card that I had used to pay the bill. I had originally thought that the restaurant had intentionally held my credit card, but they have reached out to me to provide their side of the story. I have never left my card behind after signing for it so either it was hidden in some side pocket or it was never there, but I cannot prove it one way or another, so I will give them the benefit of the doubt and note that it was simply my mistake that I had left it behind and that they had set it aside for me in the lost and found. However, this still does not change the fact that the staff is reviewing the bill again after it has been paid and signed for (I wish I could bold and underline these statements). Had I not left my card behind, things would have turned out very differently it seems. If you make a mistake on the billing, then you should have let me know before I signed for it. Also, the receipt is literally a list of numbers comprising of the price of each item so I didn't look closely at each line, figuring that it was in the ballpark of what we ordered, so I couldn't even tell you if that $10 is what we owed or not. My sister ended up just giving them $10 cash to settle the bill. It's unfortunate because we had a good time there (though we did keep having to ask for bowls and they just never came with them that we had to get up and move to that general area ourselves to ask for them) and the food was lovely but I'm just not comfortable with how they handled this situation so will be going elsewhere for my Vietnamese food fix in the future. read more

Eating beef pho as usual~ The soup tasted simple but great! I think it tasted better before I added any additional condiments like lime juice and sriracha. I also liked how the pho came with a generous amount of bean sprouts and the leaf (I don't know what it's called but it always comes with the pho). I've never seen bean sprouts this gigantic. I hope it came from a safe source. One suggestion I have for the restaurant is to change the chopsticks. Because the chopsticks are thick and made of slippery material, it was hard to pick up noodles (FYI I'm Japanese and use chopsticks every day).
