So the sushi isn't all that special to be honest. The set up of the restaurant definitely has more a personable experience since it's all bar seating here. The sushi serves nori rolls which basically are glorified uncut maki rolls, but the quality of fish is expected to be on the higher end of the fresh sushi spectrum. I think the place was new when I first came here because they were training some new employees and my order was either misheard or missed. When I asked where was the rest of my order, they had no idea there was more and checked back on the order. Apparently, they completely misread it and immediately correct themselves and made the rest of my order. Definitely, felt strange when my girlfriend got all her pieces, but I only got like 2 rolls. But I'm glad they got that corrected. Now, let me get to the better part of my experience. They had a nitro matcha drink that blew my mind. It was so good! Wow!!! Honestly best handroll spot I've been to. Prices are much more reasonable compared to Kazunori in LA or Saru in SF. Wonderful ambiance and friendly service, and quality of fish was absolutely incredible. Even if you're not a huge fan of raw fish, they have options like eel (which is charcoal smoked in front of you) and truffle lobster (amazing for the price). Oh my god, this place is such a gem. The food is absolutely AMAZING and I can't describe the joy my friend group had while eating here. They have hand rolls that come in sets for a better deal than individual ordering -- I got the 5 roll set, which differs from the 6 roll by a King Salmon roll. My friends all got the 6 set and the sushi chef accidentally made me a Salmon roll too (hello autopilot) and she was kind enough to just let me keep it and pay for my original order! That being said, the 6 roll is definitely worth it and I would've regretted not ordering it! I also ordered their House Sake, which went great with the ginger slices. Was also a fan of their wasabi and tried my friends' cocktails, which were yummy. My favorite roll was either the Scallop or Lobster because of how creamy they were and the texture was amazing. The best thing you can do is get a 6 piece set. It gets pricey ordering everything separately. The set gives you a great variety of all the best hand rolls. I got the set of 6 and my favorite was the truffle lobster/king salmon. They ran out of sashimi after we ordered it which was unfortunate. My father has a sesame allergy, as in he will die, and that was the only thing he could eat on the menu. It was a bit of a let down because he had to watch us eat. Thankfully our host brought him a special roll on the house after the fact. This was the perfect amount of food. I am not overly stuffed and uncomfortable, but not left hungry. My girlfriend H and I came here for a girl's night out. We were initially thinking of coming here for dine-out but instead we picked the regular menu instead. H and I each got the 5-Hand Roll menu for $26. It came with: -Yellow tail -Toro -Hokkaido Scallop -Crab -Truffle lobster Out of the 5 rolls, my favorite was the Truffle lobster. Each roll was super fresh made one by one upon finishing the last one. Everything was spectacular. It was super delicious. I do like how fresh the seaweed was. In fact these rolls were not like super special but they used fresh ingredients that made up for everything. However the rolls are rather on the small side. We were still hungry after eating 5 rolls each so I ended up ordering an extra roll the Unagi roll for $7. I liked how they were much more generous in the unagi portion compared to the other rolls. Even after eating 6 rolls, we were not like full. We were ok. Service was great. They topped up our wasabi when we run low. The décor was nice. I do like how the seating is arranged in a U shape. It is somewhat limited table seating due to the layout. They can only serve so many customers at a time. I liked the concept where you get to watch the chef prepare the food. Like I said it is somewhat expensive but we are here for the experience. Right now, Robson is their first and only location. I heard that they are planning on expanding and opening two more locations: one in the Brentwood area and I can't remember where the third location will be. Thanks to Hello Nori, I have a newfound love for traditional cut rolls and hand rolls (but for the record still love my specialty sushi rolls filled with a bunch of ingredients haha). Hello Nori quickly became one of my partners favourite restaurants along Robson. They offer one thing and one thing only: sushi hand rolls, made right in front of you one at a time, so you can enjoy them at their freshest. Service is fast without making you feel rushed, although they do manage to cycle through groups pretty quickly, so if you don't get a seat right away don't sweat it. We typically order the 5 roll combo, but don't forget to check out whatever specials they have going on. One of my favourites is when it's Uni season.I've literally never had a roll here I didn't love, so don't be afraid to try something new. Some favourites include the Truffle Lobster and the Octopus. The seating is arranged in a bar-style around a large center prep area where you can see them work their magic. Things come out as you eat, which makes it a great place for a date, or just to catch up with some friends, as you have a few minutes between rolls. The owner is also usually around making sure people are enjoying themselves and making recommendations to those who are unsure. They've also got a really great selection of cocktails and non-alcoholic drinks that rotates by the seasons. Wow this was such an interesting experience! My friend and I both got the 4 roll set. Instead of tables everyone is seated at a bar that surrounds the chef's and servers. The servers were nice and it was cool to have the chef prepare it there and serve it directly to you. The interior was unsure with wood accents. I wish the seats were more comfortable. Our server was Hiroki and he was very nice! He explained everything on the menu for us including daily specials and recommendations. Riko was our chef and she was quick and polite. The rolls she made didn't break apart easily. The trick with eating hand rolls is to pinch the end you're not biting so by the time you get to the last bite, the rice and meat is still inside seaweed. We got the 6 roll combo since it saves you about $11. The wasabi wasn't that spicy, had to ask for more and also didn't give much ginger had to ask for more and they gladly gave it. No problem there. The first roll was toro, it was good, I'm not a big fan of onions though so if you don't like onions this one might not be so good. The second roll was yellowtail and I liked it. Third roll was king salmon and that was delicious too. The salmon had the right amount of fat. Fourth was scallop and that good too. I'm a big fan of scallops. Fifth roll was crab and that roll was one of my favorites. It had so much flavor you didn't need to dip it on soy sauce or wasabi. It was very flavorful!! A very interesting experience. First off, they only serve hand rolls and one option for a sashimi platter. Second, the fish (except for the Unagi) is "muddled", kinda like what you get when ordering spicy tuna. Kind of a Tatar of fish and not pieces of fish. The execution is different than traditional hand rolls. I'm used to hand rolls formed into a cone shape. This place just wraps the rice and fish pate in nori (seaweed wrapper) in the shape of a loosely rolled burrito. You'll sit around the bar (we didn't see any tables) and the "chef" prepares the hand rolls individually and delivers them one at a time to each customer. I'm not knocking it, just an interesting experience. My favorite roll was their signature truffle lobster. If I had to do it again, I would get the sashimi platter and a couple of the truffle lobster rolls. Definitely worth a try!! read more

I ordered the ora king salmon, hokkaido scallop and octopus. Out of the three I would have to say the octopus was my favorite. Everything is made right in front of you so you know it's fresh. A little on the pricer side but that's the price you pay to eat on Robson. Not sure if this would be an ideal place for dinner as the menu is the same so you might get bored of eating hand rolls all night.
