I stopped by HK cafe to try any of their drinks and I ordered the pompompurin and it tasted like brown sugar boba milk but a texture of an ice cream. It was good but too sweet. The service wasnt the best although it wasn't busy. There is a seating area outside of the cafe it was nice but small and was tricky to get in and out with a stroller. Maybe I will come back to try the tea room next time.
My daughter was sooooo excited when we were shopping at Valley Fair Mall and we came across the Hello Kitty Cafe...and there wasn't a super long line!!!! After looking at the menu, we ordered a Strawberry Milk, Strawberry Matcha and a giant Sugar Cookie. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The whole place is so cute and pink!!![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We also got cute Sanrio stickers when checking out! We'll definitely be back!
A friend took me to the tea room for my birthday. It's a full tea experience, where there is a set menu but you pick what tea you get. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Everything is super kawaii Hello Kitty, down to the plates and cups.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They do ask if you have allergies, but I'm not sure how much of an alternate menu they have. I got the tea that had hibiscus in it. It was very red! I enjoyed it. I also noticed that they have iced tea and lemonade options, which I think would be fun for non-tea drinkers. All the food was delicious. The egg salad cup was a standout. I thought the serving size overall was large; we took some of the desserts home. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This place is really decorated for fans of Hello Kitty.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was surprisingly a little loud, and only about half of the tables were full when we went.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The servers were very nice and friendly. I think this is a fun experience, particularly if you are a fan of Sanrio. It is a little pricey ($70).

I came here for the $70 high tea experience and although service was friendly and food was visually appealing, it was lacking compared to other high tea experiences I've had in the Bay Area. Food was limited and I would have liked more savory items. I enjoyed the summer peach hot tea. Unless there will be some changes to the menu, I most likely won't return for high tea. It is upstairs near Bloomingdales and right across from Eataly. I tried to call to get better instructions on how to get there but no one picked up several times. I basically had to track the location based on Yelp photos.

Ugh, I've been wanting to book the afternoon tea in the bow room for the longest!!! I'm so glad they opened a Hello Kitty Cafe in the Bay! We made a reservation for a party of two on a Sunday at 3:15pm to celebrate my birthday! It's $70 per person and we paid a deposit when booking. There is a pre-set tea menu with savory and sweet snacks and your selection of one beverage; tea, lemonade, iced tea. Mimosa and champagne is also available for an extra charge. They do ask if you have any food allergies or restrictions. Ugh, everything was soooo cute!!! The servers were also very sweet and friendly. The beverage selection was a bit overwhelming for me and I didn't know what to choose! One of the servers recommended us the mango iced tea, which was actually really good! However, I wish I would've gotten a hot tea, so I could use the cute tea pot, cups, and the hello kitty shaped sugar cube lol. I didn't think the snacks would be enough to fill us up, but we ended up having to pack leftovers! We really enjoyed the savory items; my favorite was the cucumber sandwiches and the egg salad cone! Out of the sweet items, I enjoyed the strawberry tart and strawberries and chocolate whipped cream parfait; which weren't so sweet! I'd definitely like to come back and order a hot tea next time so I could use the tea set hehe. This really fulfilled my inner child!
Hello Kitty fans absolutely NEED to visit this place at least once!! This totally felt like a little girls' dream come to life. I was visiting the mall in San Jose for the first time with a friend, a few months ago, and the second I spotted the Hello Kitty Café, I got so excited and immediately wanted to go in. I've known of the Hello Kitty food truck that goes around and visits various towns here and there but those lines are atrocious. This café makes it more convenient and easier to stop by. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Everything was beyond adorable, from the decor to the pastries themselves.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It is a bit on the pricier side, but that's understandable considering it's a themed bakery/café, a novelty experience, and located inside the mall. Personally, I thought the experience and presentation made it worth it, and I'd gladly come back if I lived nearby. I also noticed they offer Bow Room reservations for what looked like a cute tea party experience, and now I'm dying to try that someday! The pastry I ordered was delicious, though I'll admit the flavor itself wasn't anything super unique compared to other bakeries or cafés. I think if someone isn't really into Hello Kitty or Sanrio, they may just see it as a typical café. But for fans, the whole experience and atmosphere make it feel extra special. Customer service was good too. Everyone was pleasant enough and I had no complaints. It was such a fun and cute experience!

I took my five year-old niece here for her birthday I do not know who was more excited me or her! I booked a lunch in the bow room. Booking was easy and availability was great when we got there they discovered us into the room. The server was great. The items were so cute. Everything was so fun. It was so fun being just a girl having afternoon tea in Hello Kitty's room! The Hello Kitty Cafe's bow room in Westfield Valleyfair has a full afternoon tea experience for $70 per person and even though pricey, it is a dream if you love anything cute. You get a prix fixe set with a total of 10 sweet and savory bites plus your choice of premium teas. Think hello kitty cakes, stuffed croissants, scones, chocolate mousse and more. Even the sugar and butter comes in a hello kitty shape! It's such a fun idea for a girls day, birthday or a cute catch up. They also have an Evening Delights menu starting at $30 if you just want a dessert and drink pairing. Service was great!
I'm an avid fan of Hello Kitty through and through, so when I heard they were opening a cafe, I just had to go visit it, even if it's far! This cafe is located at the Valley Fair mall. When we got there, there was a long line like I expected it to be, but it went by quickly. They have a variety of baked goods and iced/hot drinks, and blended drinks. I ordered the Strawberry Cloud Matcha and macaron set. For merch, I got the HK blanket, and it's my favorite! You can also opt for an afternoon tea and evening delights in the bow room; however, you need to make reservations. I'd definitely want to try that experience in the future.

This review is for their afternoon tea. [[HIGHLIGHT]]For their afternoon tea service, the vibe is super cute and on theme with Hello Kitty.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Then again, vibe is probably 99% of the reason people would come here for afternoon tea, haha. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The cups, sugar cubes, utensils are all HK based which is a cute touch.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Afternoon tea takes place is a private room, which is also a nice escape from the busy mall.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] In terms of food, it is a miss for me. Everything was way too sweet and the taste was not very good. The quantity of food is actually pretty big (I'd skip lunch if you're interested) and we ended up taking a lot of it home. There was one strawberry tart that was pretty delicious, but that is about it. In terms of service, I'd describe it was poor. The cashier was not super friendly directing us to the check in spot and orders would take awhile. To the point where we had to ask multiple times for the same thing despite only a small number of customers being there at the time. I also tried asking some questions on their online portal but received no response. The experience was cute and all, but considering the price, the service, and the food, I would not recommend it. read more
NOSTALGIA REIGNS! 4.0 Growing up, Hello Kitty was all the rage. Although its popularity took a brief hiatus in the U.S., it made a strong comeback in the 1990s and continues to enjoy another resurgence today. One weekend, my hubby surprised me with reservations for afternoon tea. One minute we were shopping at some of my favorite stores at Valley Fair Mall, and the next we were standing in the Hello Kitty reservation line. I have to admit, I was excited. The host warmly greeted us and escorted us through a door in the back to the private Bow Room. The name couldn't have been more fitting, as a large Hello Kitty figurine wearing her signature pink bow stood proudly across the room. [[HIGHLIGHT]]As you might expect, just about everything was pink: the door, walls, chairs, menus, napkins, and even the Christmas tree, since our visit was during the holiday season.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] In the spirit of Hello Kitty, I just happened to be wearing a splash of pink myself. The tea menu featured a variety of black, green, and caffeine-free teas in an assortment of flavors. I chose the Hibiscus Cooler, a refreshing green tea that I enjoyed. We were then served fresh strawberries with cocoa cream, a light and pleasantly balanced start that wasn't overly sweet. The afternoon tea was presented on a tiered server with both savory and sweet selections. The savory selections included a cucumber sandwich, egg salad sandwich, beet hummus pita, and a chicken salad croissant. The sweet offerings featured a seasonal scone, Hello Kitty mini cake, raspberry macaron, strawberry shortcake, and an apple pie tart. Every item was well prepared, and we enjoyed the entire selection. Did we enjoy our afternoon tea? Absolutely. Would we return? Probably not for afternoon tea, but perhaps for their à la carte dessert selections. It was a fun experience to share and one we're glad we tried. However, at $70 per adult, it's priced similarly to the world-famous afternoon tea at The Peninsula Hotel in Hong Kong, an experience we found to be truly extraordinary. There, we appreciated the timeless elegance and traditional presentation. 5 Stars! 5 Stars! 5 Stars! This may just be my childish enthusiasm and how I felt like an 11 year old girl again coming here and seeing everything presented in the most charming possible way. The plate settings, the napkins, the teapot, cups and the tiered hors d'oeuvre display - EVERYTHING WAS IN THEME - emblazoned with the Hello Kitty logo or shaped like the character. It brought out this excitement in me that I wasn't expecting and I'm still reeling from it hours later. This might be stretching it but I had more fun at this tea time than I did in London when my husband and I went for High Tea at the Marriott overlooking Big Ben! And it was far less pretentious! Eventhough I think this may have been just a bit more expensive - but "wow" what a great time! To top it off I had the company of my two daughters - it was a total 'girls only' kind of affair and I'll never forget it. The chicken salad sandwich was one of my favorites amongst the offerings. The macaron with the raspberries was another delicious treat. I honestly wish they sold the display stand and all of the plates - I would have been all over that! This is something you should do with your girls atleast once - it was a joy! read more
Every single Hello Kitty lover needs to visit this cafe! I know I had a blast and loved all the different items on the menu that they had to offer. Whenever the Hello Kitty trucks come to a more local area, I have been unable to go. I love all of the decoration that is everywhere in the cafe. I also enjoyed that they offered many different treats and drink options. It was really hard for me not to buy everything! This is also located inside of the mall, so it is nice to be able to walk around. This is slightly far away from where I reside but I would love to come back and see what new and different treats they have to offer! I would also love to visit the Bow Room! Last time, we were unable to but it would be a really nice experience! read more
I stopped here today since it wasn't busy. It's my first time trying out the Hello Kitty Cafe. It's decorated so cute. I have loved Hello Kitty since I was a little girl. It's definitely nostalgic for me. I checked out the menu. They had a lot of options of drinks, sweets, and Hello Kitty themed items. They are celebrating their 10 year anniversary of the first Hello Kitty cafe. They had a special offer happening. If you spend $25 or more, you get a free Hello Kitty Lunar New Year bag. If you spend another $10 you also get a Hello Kitty bookmark. I was being helped by an employee, named John. He was very kind and took good care of me. I decided to get the mango iced tea. I asked if they could make it less sweet, and they had no problem accommodating me. I also ordered a strawberry cake and apple pie to go, as well as a 10 year anniversary Hello Kitty keychain. I did receive the free year of the horse lunar new year Hello Kitty tote bag and bookmark. We will be trying out the desserts tonight. Overall, I had a great experience today and appreciated the excellent and friendly customer service I received from John. I look forward to returning. read more

Also ensured that we had a good experience by saying that we could get a new drink made if we do not enjoy the one that we got from them first. And it was good on the first make! Overpriced & overhyped. You're paying basically for aesthetics & not the actual taste itself. Everything is OVERLY sweet. The iced vanilla latte tasted water down. The icing was super sweet, the cake itself was moist & the only thing decent. Macarons, too sweet - even the lemon flavor. For 3 desserts, 1 coffee it was around $45. I'll pass, I'd rather get real dessert at Whole Foods for cheaper & better tasting. read more
One of the newest shops tapping into a beloved Japanese premium culture brand is now up and running at a popular shopping mall. Hello Kitty and Friends have been a collector thing since the 1970s. Even in the 21st century, the bow-wearing cat-headed girl -- she is actually not a cat, per canon -- remains a robust joyful immediately identifiable international brand. Btw. Do not come at me with "huh why come how she ain't a cat she has a kitty head ohh she stands upright....." I do not know; that's how they created the lore, so just please, for My Melody's sake, contact Sanrio. Arigato.. alrighty. The Café is a concept that lets guests of all ages immerse into the princess pink world of HK and her pals. Perfect for booking a special event for children of all ages. Reservations are needed for a tea service in the tea / dining room. Was here to get holiday presents. Did not really sample or eat anything although they kept busy vending beverages and snacks and treats. The young cashier was very helpful as she brought out each item I wanted to consider buying as gifts. Answering all my questions about the various memorabilia, the store itself, etc. In the end, I got some things that ought to delight the recipients. Store itself is cosy, with a small counter, display case and payment register. The actual Café section is cordoned off, and it looks like a large dining room, much larger than the front of the shop. We got the anniversary mug which is so cute and a must for any hello kitty fans. . They had a lot of merchandise which I was surprised it wasn't sold out. . Very cute but taste-wise whatever and pricey. In order of most disappointing to least disappointing: The strawberry cake - the buttercream frosting was separating from the cake. We did not finish this. The apple pie - served cold/lukewarm - dough was stuck on the bottom of the mini-pie tin and might've been better if the pie had been served warm. McDonalds' apple pie beats this. The macaron set - not bad. Comes in five different flavors. Perhaps the tea experience would've been a better experience. read more

Came on a Saturday night. There was no line so was able to get attended pretty quickly. I remember the previous hello kitty cafe in the Santana row spot. So I was excited to compare. I got their chocolate cake, which was nice and fresh. My partner got their apple pie, they did liked the flavor but did not like that it was served cold. We waited to get home to warm it up in the oven. The strawberry lemonade is pretty sweet. But would be nice on a hot sunny day. read more

They canceled my reservation one hour before. Their explanation: "someone who looked Vietnamese" came in and canceled "his" reservation but they canceled mine. They didn't ask him for the name, phone number, reservation number? So they canceled my reservation. I spent 45 min in traffic and showed up to be told there was no record of my reservation. No offer of compensation for my time, gas money. My 5 year old niece was looking forward to this all day. Was told they can still seat me but there was no food ready so it would take some time? If someone canceled my reservation by mistake, wouldn't they still have HIS reservation on file and prepared the food? If they ran out of food or just messed up (likely), just own it and say you'll do better next time. Did they cancel me because they just wanna go home before shift change? That truth would at least be respectable. Instead I get a bunch of handwaving and a "we'll still seat you so what's the big deal?"? So you can keep me waiting longer? I also felt dismissed already, so I'm not gonna risk being served by them. Bright side: at least I find out what the service/business like before dropping hundreds of dollars. My Bestie and I enjoyed an afternoon tea at the Hello Kitty Cafe in Santa Clara. The café is located at the Valley Fair Mall. It is near Bloomingdale's, on the second floor. Parking is plentiful. I highly recommend reservations since there's only limited tables in The Bow Room. We had excellent service from Tin. He was super helpful in taking pictures of us. The finger sandwiches and mini sweets were delicious. They make the food at the store. Our favorites were the chicken croissant sandwich, the egg salad tart and scones with soft butter and jam. We sipped on hibiscus and pomegranate hot teas, both were delicious. My favorite was the hibiscus tea. This is a must "DO" if you are a Hello Kitty fan or lover. The price is $70 per person. When you get the bill, they automatically charge 18% gratuity and tax. read more
I originally reserved the Bow Room for an Evening Delights session for seven people, but one guest had to cancel last minute due to illness. The staff at Hello Kitty Cafe were very understanding and quickly helped adjust our reservation. Overall, Hello Kitty Cafe is really all about the experience. It's on the pricier side, and the food and drinks are just okay. However, that's to be expected from a themed character cafe. I came in with low expectations and enjoyed it for what it was. Where they truly shine is in their service! Our server (I believe his name was Daniel or David) was incredibly kind and helped make this a special birthday celebration. He even surprised me with a soft serve topped with a candle on the house. The aesthetics were also amazing. Hello Kitty details were everywhere, from the decor to the tableware. It was all very cute and well put together. Personally, I probably wouldn't visit often unless bringing children or guests who love Hello Kitty, as the novelty is a big part of the appeal. I visited the Hello Kitty Café for my birthday and did the evening tea experience. The café was super cute with fun pink decor and really detailed desserts. I had the strawberry tart and a hot chocolate, and my friend got the tiramisu. Everything tasted great on its own, but together it was a little too sweet. It was interesting that the evening tea didn't actually come with tea. The server was really kind, and they even brought out strawberry vanilla ice cream with a candle for my birthday, which was a sweet touch. Waited for the hype to die down before finally trying Hello Kitty Cafe! I went on a Friday night and there wasn't a line so I took it as my sign to check it out. It's small, but very cute. The decor is so adorable and everything has Hello Kitty in it down to the little detailed motifs on the cakes. I visited during the holidays and saw they had seasonal drinks available like pumpkin spice and peppermint mocha. I didn't get around to trying one of the desserts this time because I was stuffed from dinner, but I was thirsty and ended up trying the mango iced tea at the recommendation of the cashier. Honestly it was just okay which was what I suspected from a café that was known for novelty more than quality/taste. I don't have anything bad to say, just that I probably wouldn't get it again. Very nice employees though and the ambiance was so lovely and adorable. If you love Hello Kitty you have to check it out at least once! I think I'd come back to try a dessert or purchase a gift for a Sanrio lover because they have really nicely packed pastries. Feeding into my unhealthy obsession and affinity for all things Hello Kitty is a little alarming--but here we are. The Hello Kitty Café is finally back, and it's looking cuter than ever. Don't be fooled into thinking this is just a quick grab-and-go spot; there's a hidden door that leads to a sit-down area where you can enjoy a full, adorable tea-time experience. I haven't tried the sit-down portion yet, so this review is based solely on the barista counter. I ordered the donut holes coated in cookies-and-cream powder and a hot chocolate--and as much as I love Hello Kitty, I have to be honest: I was pretty disappointed. As a certified Hello Kitty girl, you could slap a Hello Kitty sticker on just about anything and I'd probably fall for it. That said, I'm not here to sugarcoat or overhype based on bias. The hot chocolate arrived without a lid showcasing a cute Hello Kitty cocoa-powder design, which already felt like a missed opportunity. Unfortunately, the drink itself didn't redeem it--it tasted like a basic Swiss Miss instant packet. I expected something richer, creamier, and more indulgent. I mean, Hello Kitty is a cat... cats like milk. Do better. The donut holes were even more underwhelming. They weren't served fresh, and because of that, the powder barely stuck to them. Overall, they just weren't worth it. Based on this experience alone, I'd say it's not really worth going out of your way for--but I'm keeping an open mind. I was so excited when the Hello Kitty Cafe finally came to the Bay Area! I did evening delights and it was still expensive for what it was.. but the experience of being there was cool! It is super cute inside so more than perfect for photo ops! Service was extremely nice and fast. We appreciated how attentive our waiter was! I got the strawberry tiramisu and I loved how it wasn't dry, but the cream was very watery. However, my bf got the matcha tiramisu and his cream top was fine, so I am not sure if it was just inconsistent. read more
Well, I love hello kitty so this place is going to get 5 stars from me no matter what! It's located in Valley Fair mall and pretty much just a walk up counter unless you have reservations for the restaurant part (I didn't). You can get drinks, desserts and merchandise to go. It seems that there's usually a line but it moves pretty fast. I'd recommend browsing the special 25th Anniversary merchandise before it ends this year! FOOD: 4 SERVICE: 5 AMBIANCE: 4 VALUE: 4 We've heard about the Hello Kitty cafe in the Valley Fair mall for some time now. Recently we discovered that they serve a Tea Set in the afternoon. After securing a Tock reservation several weeks in advance, we finally got to try the afternoon tea. There is a separate line to check in for the Bow Room, but when we were there, the line wasn't monitored and we ended up having to go to the counter. Inside the Bow Room, it's clean and bright with loud music playing. We were greeted promptly and ask which of the two empty tables we would prefer. Once seated, the menu (already on table) we were asked to pick our tea/drink selections. Alcohol (champagne or mimosa) was on the menu, but it was not available. After electing our teas (which were very good), we were presented with the Strawberry & Cocoa Cream. The berries were fresh and the cream was flavorful without being too sweet. Next came the actual tea set on a three tier tray. Here are what each tray contained: Bottom tray: Cucumber Sandwich - thin strips of cucumber served on a slice of milk bread with dill cream cheese. A refreshing bite to get the palate primed for the rest. Beet Hummus Pita - a dollop of beet hummus topped with a slice of radish on a pita cookie. Slightly tangy and a cleanser for the savory bits. Chicken Salad Croissant - creamy chicken salad served in a croissant sandwich. Egg Salad - egg salad served in a micro cone. Not really enough of anything to establish a taste. Apple Pie Tart - a small "bun" of apple pie. Scone - crunchy scone served with butter and strawberry jam. Hello Kitty Mini Cake - almond cake encapsulated in frosting. Full of flavor, but frosting was on sweet side. We couldn't finish the rest of our tea set and took the macaroons and shortcakes home. Overall, it was an enjoyable experience, but not something we would do again. The price is comparable to other "teas" at high end hotels, but the atmosphere was not relaxing nor soothing. This was an awesome experience, especially for my partner who is a big fan of Hello Kitty. Is this expensive? Yes. Absolutely. Are you paying for an experience that you can't get anywhere else in the area? Yes. So keep that in mind because others seem to be surprised in their reviews even though you can look up the menu and price online before going. You get exactly what's on the online menu. So there are no surprises. It runs about $70 per person and gratuity is automatically added at checkout. It is necessary to make reservations online to be seated for tea. We saw multiple people turned away for not making reservations. Obviously, you don't have to make reservations to buy from the walk up cafe. The tea was great and the food was a great try. My favorite was the chicken salad on the croissant. I was weary about the raisins they put in the chicken salad, but it actually wasn't bad. Everything is hello kitty themed including the little sugar you put in your tea. The ambiance is great for a hello kitty lover and there are a couple photo ops in the tea room that are adorable. read more
8/10 Got the seasonal soft serve (vanilla & strawberry). The strawberry was definitely the dominant flavor, very light, not overly sweet, almost sorbet-like. I personally prefer something a bit sweeter, but it was still good and refreshing. It also came with a cute Hello Kitty cookie, which was just a simple shortbread, nothing special, but a nice touch. I mean, me and Kitty go waaay back. She and her fam got me through my 80s adolescent years, as we were one of the very few asian families in a small town in upstate NY. I related a lot to the entire Hello Kitty storyline and still have some original products to this day, from the late 70s. This cafe made me smile the entire time. It was so happy and cute in there. Food was decent and drinks were great! Who wouldn't want to drink strawberry lemonade from a sleek white HK-shaped vessel? Kids were cute too! Would take visitors to go back again as it is a bit pricey for the food quantity. Fun indulgence!
