My coworkers and I booked a 6:15 reservation at the speakeasy for a celebration event. We were promptly greeted and seated at a large table in the back. The speakeasy isn't that hard to find, being behind a rather conspicuous door, however, the vibe in the back is still very fun. The lounge is bright, pink, and filled with cute accents. The staff were incredibly nice and personable, though one person working a small bar for 20+ patrons lead to some longer wait times. As expected the drinks and treats were incredibly cute, and surprisingly, the drinks were generally tasty and did contain good portions of liquor. With that said, however, all drinks erred on the sweet side, with one drink tasting more like a cough syrup. I will note you cannot order your own drinks and must only order what's in the menu, though they will serve the liquor neat if you prefer. All in all it was a very fun experience, but one that is more a novelty than a regular establishment I would patronize. read more

The Hello Kitty Grand Cafe is the absolute cutest place for afternoon tea. If you like pink and Hello Kitty this place is for you. The ambiance is pink on pink on pink. Let's get to the good stuff, the food and tea! The tea is surprisingly very good. You get to pick from an assortment of flavors, and naturally I picked birthday tea. It came with a Hello Kitty shaped sugar cube and it made the tea extra sweet. You don't get to select the food, but you do get an assortment of savory and mostly sweet items. They start you out with chocolate whipped cream and strawberries. Weird, but good and okay. By the end of the afternoon tea, I was low key going to die of a high sugar levels, but the pink walls helped me survive. Also, when you do the afternoon tea you can also order anything from the front cafe, to-go and order any souvenirs from the front. I got the cute mug with the bow brass knuckles, and the pink t-shirt. All in all a great experience, but don't go hungry. This place is really cute and I felt like my inner child was so happy being in it because growing up, I used to love Hello Kitty! It's super pink and really cute inside and they have a tea room that I'd really like to book one day! The service was great as the guy at the register was super friendly! I ordered the mini donuts and I wanted them Maple flavored. Unfortunately, I was really disappointed with the mini donuts. They were not fluffy and doughy at all, they were super greasy and there was no maple glaze... it was a syrup. So the donuts were super greasy and soaked in syrup. Girls day out and we decided to check a place off our bucket list. In true Hello Kitty fashion, the Bow Room is definitely an experience. Pink everything! There were actually a good amount of husbands/boyfriends/male friends dining around us who seemed to be enjoying their tea time as well. Reservations online were easy to make. Once we arrived, check-in was smooth and we were seated within minutes. Our server was super sweet and attentive. Best of all we didn't feel rushed even though there is a time limit in the Bow Room. We were able to take as many pictures as we wanted and the employees even offered to take some for us as well. The Tea Time Experience was definitely fun. We each had our own pot of tea and the sandwiches/desserts were served on a Hello Kitty 3-tiered stand. There were 2 rows of desserts (scones were on the top tier with the creative Hello Kitty dessert) and 1 row of sandwiches or similar items. I actually enjoyed the smoked salmon croissant the most, followed by the egg salad in a mini cone, with the cucumber sandwich also very delicious. The desserts were to much and to sweet. I love the variety, but it was definitely overload for 1 person. The tea room is only offered in groups of 2 ($55 per person). We had a last minute little one join us and we just let her try things off our order. Unfortunately they don't have a kids menu for the young ones, nor can you order anything additional if you wanted. One of my favorite things from other tea rooms is if you really like ie: the scone, you can order an additional one, but not at this place. It was a fun experience! It is definitely tailored more towards adults. Observing other guests, i'd say this is a place for age 10+. The outside cafe with a walk-up to order would be more suited for young ones and really any age group. Over priced, yes! Experience worthy, yes! Aesthetically, everything was great about this cafe. Great photo opportunities. Obviously, most come here for the Hello Kitty themed aesthetic and they did not disappoint. From the front of the store to the cafe in the back, everything was decked out in Hello Kitty and pink. My kids enjoyed it very much. We had the afternoon tea, which I would recommend getting a reservation. They tend to be booked for months but make sure you set resy to notify if a table becomes available. Came here a couple times before and I had tried a couple of items in the glass case which are visually impressive. The birthday cake got me starry eyed but I found the inside to be dry and unimpressive. I wouldn't recommend it for it's flavor but definitely would recommend as a wow factor or for pics. They do however have really yummy cookies, macarons and a yummy Kitty version of a pop tart! The drinks were very tasty as well! Decided later to reserve tea time to celebrate sissy in law's bday (Happy Birthday Abby!!). No better place to catch up than being inside of a Hello Kitty gum bubble with adorable, hospitable, super soft spoken and polite waitresses. My sister is gluten-free so I thought she'd get a macaron and a side of whipped cream but they were able to put together a small plate Of nibbles and we were all very impressed/appreciative for that! My sister even asked for a mini cake to take home to her husband and the staff was super kind to give it to her!! Since after all, she wasn't able to eat much being GF. Cool place to go once or twice. Drinks are pricey, but they do have some discounted. No food other than the complimentary corn nuts (which were great, BTW), but they will allow you to buy food items from the front and bring them back with you. Located at the front side facing to the Ferris Wheel at Building M of the spectacular Irvine Spectrum Center, the Hello Kitty Grand Cafe offers donyts, cajes, ice creams, desserts, pastries and other items UNIQUELY based on the "Hello Kitty" brand, one of many symbols of the Sanrio Enterprise; I grew up in the 80s-90s and sported many cards/letters/pencils to my friends throughout Asia. The lines to the establishment can span pass the entrance door and can easily wrap up to the morning of the buildings at times. Advice:: come earlier and be prepare to plan what uoj want to buy. I stood in line for 30 minutes so that I can see what they have to offer!! Well, we bought a few items and a few eatery items, and much to my surprise, taste pretty good!! This is probably one of the worst shopping experience I have had. We waited in lines for more than 30 min. Many behind me also had little ones lined up also. We know we were close to closing time. With 20 people still in line, one of the employees just yelled: we do not take orders anymore" and that was it. All of us were just standing there looking at each other. Everyone employee was kicking the ball about he or she is not responsible and the store manager has left. Not professional at all, the staffs are not properly trained. Got the pocket pie and honestly it's a pop tart I also got some fruit tarts and those were good, but not worth the money. The strawberries should be glazed or AT LEAST drizzled with glaze. Give it a more appetizing look. Otherwise it's just a stiff cookie with strawberries. It's missing pizazz. My kids and I started cracking up when we opened up our treats. I have been to the Hello Kitty location a few times. To be honest, you probably only need to come here once. Every time we visit we try something new, and every time we are not too pleased by the desserts. They are basic, nothing to make a special stop for. It is a really cute place to take kids or anyone who likes Hello Kitty. Their cookies and cream donuts were tasty, although a little steep in price. I do know they have a little restaurant in the back, but I have yet to eat there. It looks super cute in all the photos. It can get pretty packed (but then again the whole Irvine Spectrum area gets really packed) so I suggest going early or on a week day if you want to skip the crowds. read more

When you go into the Bow Room, you're definitely only paying for the name - HELLO KITTY! For $60 portions were very small and did not taste good at all. Photos are definitely cute "for the gram" but everything else was so not worth it. First of all, the bow room is EXTREMELY SMALL and tiny. Second, the floors were disgusting. It's obvious they're not cleaned during the day or in between reservations. Third, I can not stress enough how $60 was not worth the experience. I have done many afternoon teas elsewhere and have left satisfied and fulfilled.... leaving here today with an over $300+ tab unsatisfied and still hungry. The hello kitty cafe located in the touristy mall of Irvine spectrum center. That's what this place is another tourist attraction. When we arrived at the location we were astonished by the ambiance, by the huge Ferris wheel and the ice skating rink, but because of this the line wrapped around the building. If you've ever dreamed of eating and drinking your weight in Hello Kitty treats, this place was made for you. The cafe is located near the ferris wheel at the Irvine Spectrum. They did a great job designing it in true HK fashion with adorable detailing. But it's a small space with only a couple of tables, so it's better for grab n go. Inside they have a display with all of their mini cakes, pies and cookies. I've had a few including the Hello Kitty Pocket Pie ($4.75) which is similar to a pop tart and one of the less sweet options. The filling changes seasonally and is currently a tangy lemon flavor. For beverages, they have coffee, iced teas and lemonade. I've had the Strawberry Mint Lemonade ($4.50) and it was good but I couldn't taste any mint. I wouldn't recommend it for the price tag. What makes this place special and deserving of the 5 stars is their exclusive bow room. The bow room is hidden behind a closed door and hosts afternoon tea service during the day and cocktails at night. They take walk-ins, but to ensure availability you can make a reservation through Yelp. Cocktails start at 5pm daily. The bow room is stylish and decked out in an explosion of pink. Seating is a little tight but doable. Make sure to visit the restroom (it's cute for bathroom selfies if you're into that). I started with one of their most popular drinks Picture Perfect ($17). It's vodka based with strawberry and citrus flavors. It was actually pretty strong and the strawberry popping boba added a nice sweetness. A Polaroid picture comes with this drink which is a cool keepsake. I also had the Truth or Pear ($15) which has Japanese whiskey and pear brandy. This drink was enjoyable as well. The service was spot on in the bow room. Everyone from the hostess who greeted us to the bartenders inside were friendly and engaging. They even let us stay past the 75 min limit since they weren't that busy. Everything is a bit pricey but you're paying for the novelty and experience. If you are a Hello Kitty die hard fan then I think you would have a great time here. I regret not coming to do a scheduled visit in their cafe for afternoon tea. I just popped in for a quick drink and a treat. We came in and bought some macaroons, tea & a pop tart cookie. The macaroons are okay. The tea was good but it needed to be sweetened more. The pop tart cookie was good. All of their treats fit the theme of course with their design. I do have to say that i think they should offer more items on the menu for the cafe. I think the drinks are limited and the snacks are limited. I think this place is worth it to stop by and check out just for the Hello Kitty cuteness. It was a hot Friday afternoon. 3pm. I came from Carson, CA, to surprise my daughter with this special treat! The cafe is small. No "public" seating inside unless you make reservations for their room, which is concealed from the people in line. It was no surprise, though, because I read reviews. So, my daughter understood we would just go in and out to see it and buy a few snacks/ drinks. It's very nice and clean inside. Came here last week because I have re-entered my Sanrio persona. The line went outside, but not too long. I think my mom and I were in line for about 20 minutes. The line was definitely longer when we left. They have a menu displayed at the front, but there's also a sign with a QR code posted at the door. We ordered macarons and a passion fruit tea with popping boba. The tea was good, pretty sweet but not worth the price. And the macarons were just bad. They were hard and tasted overcooked.
