I had my first haircut here in March, and I'm ready to book cut #2! I received so many compliments on my hair afterward, which says a lot. Finding a new stylist can be difficult, especially when you have curly hair and need someone who really understands how to work with it. This was such a wonderful experience from start to finish. My curls looked and felt amazing, and I finally feel like I've found someone I can trust with my hair. I'm looking forward to my next appointment and highly recommend giving them a try read more

I've been to several salons for curly cuts, but I'm the most satisfied with Helaine Marie. The cut works with my features, and grows out well. I would highly recommend her services. read more

After searching all over the Boston Metro area for a curly hair specialist for years, I am so happy I found Helaine. She truly listened to my concerns/needs and took her time with my cut, treatment, color and blow drying technique. She also explained how I should wash, put product in my hair and gave me the tools I need for the upkeep. Helaine also reached out a few days later to make sure I was happy and asked me if I needed any tweaks. I waited a couple of weeks to get used to washing/drying my hair and I absolutely love my curls more than ever--they're staying looking great for many days! This cut/color is definitely an investment but since I won't be going back for 9 months, totally worth it! read more

Great haircut, got a lot of compliments for it. Just the way I wanted it. Helaine Marie communicates easily in person and over texts and listens carefully. I particularly appreciate the fact that she encourages her clients to reach out if they need tweaks after their appointments. Here for the second time and enjoying it very much read more

Run from this place. Went in for a color and a style. Instead of explaining the cost of the treatment, she just did it. I have my hair done all the time, in my many years I HAVE NEVER BE CHARGED SUCH AN OUTRAGES FEE FOR THE SERVICE, and the results was not great So she made a few extra dollars but lost a customer and is getting this terrible review. I WILL WRITE THIS REVIEW ON EVERY SITE I CAN FIND. read more

Did a great job on my sister and I's very long, curly hair. I got a balayage treatment and we both got a trim/style. Helaine gave us a week after the treatment to ask for any changes, but I love how mine looks right now and wouldn't change a thing. Awesome place for curly haired folk! read more

Went to her for the first time to for a hair color. Helaine listen to me and recommended a different hair color for me. At first I found the color was a little dark from what I am use to. I book an appointment the next week to adjust. Her policy is wonderful. Turn out Helaine was right this is a nice color on me. She check in with me it make sure I was happy with the color. I was. I have received several compliments on the color. Highly recommend Helaine. read more

I have been going to Helaine Marie for 10 years now ! When I originally went to Laine's salon she fixed my hair that was extremely damaged and needed ALOT OF TLC ... She is been a god-sent! Laine is one of a kind! I am sooooo happy that I was referred to her so many years ago! She is always up to date with new techniques and is extremely talented! I don't know what I would do without her !! Just the other day she did a color correction and trim.. She is Honestly the best . Basically if you are looking for a hairdresser in the north shore HELAINE MAIRE is where you should go ! Thank you again Laine !!!! read more

I loved my hair cut! She is fantastic and very caring, she listens to your needs about what type of hair style and does it! Having a hair stylist that genuinely cares about your well being and hair is very rare, and she truly makes your curls come to life. 10/10 recommend her, CHECK HER OUT!! Her dog is so cute! read more

Helaine is the best hair dresser. I always love how my hair looks and feels after going to her. Definitely recommend!

Lanie is amazing to work with, especially if you have wavy/curly hair and like to maintain a natural style. She knows how to enhance your natural texture and really wants you to be satisfied with your cut. Highly recommend! read more

I found Helaine Marie's salon almost a year ago when I needed to have someone take care of my curly tresses and I can honestly say that she is THE CURL DOCTOR! Or the curl whisperer! She is certified in Ouidad's curly cuts and does a fantastic job! And each Ouidad curly cut from this curl doctor lasts a solid 6 months so that your interim cuts are just half that cost. And she is refreshing...no snooty or elitist attitude here, just someone who wants to give you the best cuts ever AND you can come back within a week if anything needs to be touched up. And she is so conveniently located with lots of free parking and does her best to accommodate your schedule, even on short notice. I am so happy that I found her and can recommend her without hesitation! And see you there! read more

She did such a good job! I got a much needed cut and some foils. My hair feels so healthy!!

Helaine is so talented and really cares about her clients! Love my hair. Small salon that shows big and amazing results. Thank you so much and so glad I found you! 5 Stars is definitely not enough stars for this salon. read more

This place was so well reviewed and she was great about texting to schedule but the cut was the worst I have had and the keratin treatment didn't work. The cut was lopsided (not in a trendy way just in a sloppy way with long hairs randomly missed. When she noticed it she then said that it was because I hadn't been sitting still -mind you she had never once told me this during the cut or asked me to move a different way or anything like that so it seemed like just a way to deflect blame. Then she had the nerve to tell me that I could pay to come back for a Ouidad cut if I wasn't happy- which she had recommended against at the beginning and then made it seem like if I had just done that the cut would have been good. The keratin treatment wore off after about a week despite my using the super expensive shampoo and conditioner she recommended. A total waste of money and very unprofessional to mess up and then blame me for it and only fix it if I paid her more. read more

I wanted to wait a bit before I wrote this review, because I went to Helaine Marie for the first time, to get the certified Ouidad Carve and Slice haircut (with the "rake and shake") - for naturally curly hair only. The cost was $120 (before tip) and supposed to last about 6 months. I was highly skeptical. I never paid more than $50 for a cut. $120 is "big city" prices and out of my meager budget. But my hair was desperately needing a drastic change. So I booked it. And I am glad to say I was proven wrong! Watch the youtube video for the technique...this is part of what made me skeptical, there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of cutting going on, and it's all seemingly underneath. Same as when Lanie was "carving and slicing" my hair. Nothing appeared different, not a whole lot seemed to be happening, it was very quick....yet there was all this hair on the floor. Hm. First 3 days, I wasn't very happy. I didn't notice much of a difference. Not happy I paid $120+ for this. Hm. Then, I guess my hair had to "recover" or something ..I don't know...because, the magic kicked in on day 4. THIS is exactly what my curly locks needed, THIS is exactly what I have been searching for but could not find. Curly hair, to "lay" correctly needs a specific cut, and THIS is the cut for that. I could not be more happy :) Today is September 16, I had my Carve and Slice cut on April 23, 4 months ago, absolutely got my moneys worth. I am only now thinking of making an appointment for a month out, not because it really needs a "trim" but more that since the cut my hair has grown like crazy - but the RIGHT way - if you have longish curly hair you will understand what I mean by me saying I do not have triangle head. lol Thanks Lanie! How can I add a picture of the magic you created in my hair? read more

I have very fluffy, thick, curly hair that spends 99% of the time in a ponytail. I am working on letting my color go gray on it's own now since it stays healthier, but the downside is that it started looking even more unruly! I am heading back to work soon and also had a rare family photo set up, so I was desperate to do something with my hair. I needed a style that I could wear down. I had a Ouidad cut 10+ years ago at another place, but stopped doing them regularly and was now sporting the big fluffy triangular mess of hair. I found Laine when I googled Ouidad and called. She got me in at 5pm because of a cancellation. I ended up doing a Ouidad cut and my first keratin treatment. She pulled out all the stops to tame the volume. It took 3 days to let the keratin treatment set, and it's now been a couple of weeks. I absolutely love the result. The keratin made my hair (especially the grays) shiny and a little relaxed and the Ouidad cut gave my hair a great shape. I choose not to flat-iron my hair - I prefer my hair curly, but the combination of Ouidad cut and keratin has made my curly hair look like I'm having a good hair day every day. read more

I have been going to Lanie for several years. Every time I go to the salon I look like a drowned rat and come out looking like a hair model. Lanie is a miracle worker when it comes to color and covering grays! When it came to my wedding day I wouldnt have gone anywhere else. Lanie had Katelyn do my hair for my wedding. AMAZING is the only word to use how beautiful it came out. As soon as you sit in the chair you will feel like you have known everyone forever and you will fall in LOVE with Lanie! read more

I am a hair dresser so I usually have trouble finding someone that I like to do my hair. I found Helaine and couldn't be happier she has been awesome! What I love is how honest she is a lot of hair dressers will set false hope and tell you that you will look just like Beyoncé when you're done. Nope not here helaine is a straight shooter and I love it so if you want someone who will lie to you just to get your money this place isn't right for you. Her honesty is a breath of fresh air she doesn't care if it ends up loosing her money she won't do anything that would look bad. I haven't been unhappy with any of the styles she has done. She has told me every time she has done my hair to give it a day or two and if there is something that needs to be changed just to give her a call. She is very approachable and always helps you achieve what you want with your hair. I can't thank you enough for dealing with how indecisive I am!! read more

Another great haircut and color by Lainie. I have been a customer for many years and have never been disappointed. Great conversation, professional, and always gives great advice. My hair looks and feels fantastic, and I am so lucky to be in her capable hands. Her advice as always was perfect. She really is worth her weight in gold. I highly recommend Helaine Marie Salon. read more

My curls are in between classic and tight. I've never had a Ouidad cut before but I'm SO glad I went to Lainie in downtown Stoneham. My curls have honestly never looked better. They look healthier too, it's amazing. Her salon is cute and welcoming and I'm hooked!! read more

I am so happy I spotted this little shop on a recent walk through Stoneham. I have recently relocated and was fretting about finding a new salon. Well I've found it! Laine is welcoming and so knowledgeable. I didn't once feel rushed and am so pleased I decided to go red! She provided me with great options. I'll definitely be back in 6 weeks! read more

I walked into the salon without an appt thinking to just throw ideas around. I am a curly girl. Have always hated my curls. Helaine took the time to talk with me, and actually wound up with the cape on, getting the quidad hair cut. Had this many years ago, but then decided to blow it straight, and did so for many years. Getting older, I want simple, which means embracing my curls. Helaine was very accommodating, and I have a week to play; or can go back and she will redo. What more can you ask for. read more

Best spray tan in town and It lasts!! LAINE does an awesome job and is very thorough! She's funny and makes you feel more than comfy. Very clean too! Thanks LAINE for always accommodating me when I need a quick tan!! Your the BEST! read more

I seldom write reviews but felt compelled to after my experience at this salon. I had been to many different hairdressers trying to find someone who could create the color I want ( blonde highlights on a brown base without the blonde being 'yellow' or 'orange' )... Helaine knew exactly how to achieve the results I wanted and did not cut corners.... it took a lot of work and time but she did it perfectly! I realize now that other hairdressers just did not want to put in the extra effort to do the color correctly.... Helaine is so knowledgeable and honest. She will be taking care of my hair from now on!! ( Poor thing lol). Special mention to adorable Bentley ... cutest ever ;) read more

Found the salon on the Ouidad salon locator. Loved the ambience and decor, loved Lanie, and loved my haircut. The goal is for a personal experience and I felt very well cared for. THANKS, read more

I had my first ouidad cut with Helaine and loved it! She is very knowledgeable about curly hair and explained the cut and how I should take care of it. I am having my second ouidad cut today. Can't wait! read more

My curls have never been happier or looked better!!! After Laine gave me my first Ouidad cut, it took me a few days to work with my curls. Now a week (or so) later I'm loving them. My curls are lighter, have much more definition and less frizz (even in our fickle New England weather). Laine also worked my grays and they're gone! She took the time to discuss with me my hair care routine, didn't push product or what "she" would like, it was what I wanted and we worked together to come up with something I would be happy with! read more

Best spray tan!! Went in before our trip got the organic (Bahama color) dark spray it came out perfect and lasted a long time for a spray tan- very impressed read more

I loved my hair cut and color from Helaine Marie. I told her what I wanted and it came out even better than what I imagined!! As a naturally curly hair gal, I've been on the hunt for the right stylist for what seems like my entire life- I have found her and her name is Laine! Had my first Ouidad cut by Laine about a month ago and wanted to give my hair some time before writing my review. Simply put - I love it. I dont know the last time I wore my hair down, now I do most days. The cut is perfect, no more triangle head, no more awkward puffiness. Wondering why I waited so long! read more

I've had 2 spray tans done by Lainey and she is the BEST! She's makes you feel super comfortable and ensures that you're getting the right color and coverage. Highly recommended! read more

I had a spray tan done by Lainey a few weeks ago for a wedding - I was tan, she was quick and accommodating, she made me feel super comfortable. It lasted a good 10 days too! I will definitely go back to her again and recommend her to my friends! read more

Had to get my hair done today and couldn't get to my usual salon. Helaine took me on short notice on a Monday which is almost impossible to find anywhere else in the area. The salon is so comfortable, pretty and welcoming. The price was no where near as much as I've paid in other salons around town, and the result was better! She takes a lot of pride in her products and definitely stays up to date on the latest hair treatments and product lines. She listened to what I wanted and knew exactly how to achieve it. I highly recommend Helaine Marie and will definitely be back myself :) read more

I went into Helaine Marie for the first time and I have to say, I loved my experience. Seeing that I usually get foils and a cut or trim, I can be in a salon for a while. Kelli rearranged her schedule for me and Lainey was very attentive to my emails. While I was there, the conversations were upbeat and fun and Kelli and Lainey together are really such an awesome team! Every customer that came and went while I was there left satisfied, including myself. Kelli did such a great job with the foils, matching my color, and the doing the cut. My hair is very thin and she worked it in a way that I absolutely loved when I saw the finished product! You did a *mint* job Kelli! :) Thanks to Kelli and Lainey I won't have to look any further for talent in a hair salon! read more

Yes 5 Stars = "As Good as it Gets"...LOVE Helaine Marie Salon and have been a customer for many years! Lanie also gives an awesome haircut and I highly recommend this Salon to anyone looking for a well-priced and wonderful beauty experience. You will leave here feeling your BEST everytime!!! read more
