Erica the owner has to be one of the rudest people I have ever met. She makes you feel so uncomfortable, and her condescending remarks made me so uncomfortable and upset, that I wouldn't let her cut my dogs hair. I'd been looking for a new salon for several years to no avail, until a friend went to NV the 1st time and raved about it. I went and got bayalage and my 1st calligraphy cut with Alex and loved it! Alex really listened to the color I wanted (unlike previous hair stylists) and finally gave me the bayalage I'd been looking for for years! I'll also never cut a regular cut after a calligraphy again! My hair is very thick so calligraphy thins it out, keeps it soft, and finally gives my hair shape. I've seen Alex twice now for color and cut and will keep going back! She is fantastic. I'm also excited to try out getting my makeup done there next week as part of their Valentine's Day special. NV the Salon is so close to home (Medford), close to the city yet don't need to deal with the hassle of parking. It is an incredibly professional salon and I can tell that owner Erica puts a lot of hard work in and ensures to check in with everyone even if she isn't styling them. I decided to try out NV Salon which had just moved to a building across from the Stoneham Town Common. I was greeted by a smiling and friendly Erica who was waiting for me for my appointment. I needed a hair cut and Abby was able to accommodate my busy schedule. She listened thoroughly to what I wanted and slowly started to cut my hair making sure I did actually want to keep going shorter which put me at ease as most hairdressers become scissor happy. Since then my hair cut has grown longer in length but the style she cut has stayed, making it easy to maintain and not feel shabby. I will definitely be back to this salon! First off, service was an A+++. I walked in saying I was a bit early for my appointment and right off the bat they acknowledged me and made sure I was comfy. They were rearranging some things and took time to emphasize their apologies for the appearance and made sure I was tended to. Went in for a haircut after letting my boyfriend test out his haircutting skills for girls on my hair (ladies, bad choice!). Stressed out trying to find a hair salon open on a Monday and thanks to yelpers, I found this gem. Grace gave me my cut and she was sweet off the bat, very attentive and making sure her suggestions reflected what I had wanted. Every step of the way, she would give me advice on what might be the better route but left the final decision up to me each time! Considering what hair I had left from all the uneven cuts, she really did all that she could and saved my hair Definitely will be back for future! read more

I am literally laughing out loud at some of the obvious troll reviews here! I have been searching high and low for a salon nearby (in Woburn) after my previous salon became so big that the only appointment left for me was a Tuesday night squeezed in between clients....... with a stylist that would actually listen to what I want regarding my grey coverage!! and bring my hair back to it's glory days without a hard sell on the products. I am a high maintenance complete PITA client - by that I mean I call at the last minute expecting an appointment, I hate double book- don't double book me and expect me to come back, and I am a 40+ woman who doesn't want to look 40+ but doesn't want to look like a 30something either. Some days I love to chat, some days I need silence. I don't want to sit for 4 hours in your chair yet I have color plus foils plus long hair to be styled after and I don't want to be rushed. How fun am I?? Anyway, tried Erica out on a slushy snowy evening before thanksgiving - Besides the fact that I was warmly greeted, situated nicely, consulted with, amazed by the hair washing and scalp massage, everything completed in a very timely manner - I LOVED MY LOOK IT WAS EXACTLY WHAT I WANTED!!!!!!! and I booked my next appointment for New Year's Eve (did I mention that even though I need my hair touched up every 4 weeks I won't come back before 7 weeks? see the PITA above.....). So yea, New Year's Eve day I walked back in not expecting to be 100% satisfied again (because seriously, no one can possibly nail it twice in a row), but Erica proved me wrong again by completely nailing it a second time. My 3rd appointment was to be in the middle of a Feb 2015 blizzard (which those who live here know this Feb 2015 has been brutal) so I called to reschedule and first of all, Erica already knew me by voice - AND had a number of times to offer me. NV The Salon is fantastic! The salon is beautiful and the stylists are amazing! They are knowledgeable and true hair artists! I have been getting the calligraphy cut for a while now. The calligraphy cut is the most amazing haircut I have ever gotten. It lasts longer than a typical haircut and my hair just falls the way it is supposed to and is easy to style. My hair is also very thick and it has more than cut the drying time in half. I would never go to another salon after going to NV! They are the best! read more

First time here today. It's a wonderful spot - easy to find and with public parking right across the street. The shop itself is more comfortable than most, with cushy chairs, especially when getting one's hair shampooed and rinsed. I like the hair coloring better than my last place. All the products they use are all natural and gentle. That's important to me because I'm allergic to many products - including many of the hypoallergenic products. Last, but not least, I highly recommend you have your done by Alex. She is the best. Not every hair dresser can handle a pixie but she does so and styles up in a way that I simply can't. One word. AMAZING! I have been going to Newbury Street to get my hair done for 10 years and I decided to try a salon that was closer to home. I can honestly say that my experience at NV exceeded all expectations. All the staff was very warm and welcoming and I felt like I was getting a true salon experience. They spent the time to listen to my needs and didn't try to rush me out like the majority of other salons I have been to. They offer a variety of services so I was able to get my hair done, eyebrows threaded and a spray tan by Infinity Sun all at once #amazing. My wife has been going to Erica for years and she is without a doubt the most politically correct women I know and if there was a hint that this salon was racist she would no longer go. Now I was in the salon for this so called racist conversation and so was my wife. It did not happen at all like it was reported. Salons like Barbershop's are a sanctuary for all topics and many things are discussed constantly. We as a society focus less on quality service and more on whether our feelings get hurt. If she chooses to not go back or all of her friends then that's her choice but to call someone a Racist also opens you up for a civil suit. Because to make unfounded accusations can hurt someone's reputation, career and overall livelihood. That's called slander and libel. Publishing a negative review is your choice Throwing out labels like that shows that instead of being a progressive open minded person sensitive to the needs of others you are ignorant, angry, small minded yourself with bigger issues on the table. I would say that quite frankly this persons behavior in the salon was offensive and disruptive to all the other clients who filled the chairs. read more

The stylists have talent but the owner, Erica has a serious attitude and was extremely rude to me in front of other customers because I wasn't completely initially satisfied with my hair color. She was extremely unprofessional and gossiped to other clients about how unhappy she was about me as a customer even when she didn't realize the customer she was venting to actually referred me to her...I will never go to this salon again. Lux Lounge is the best! Erica has been my hairdresser for over 10 years and she is fabulous and amazing. I used to go to her when she worked for Paul Kenneth Salon in Woburn, but now she opened her own place and it is awesome. It is super cute inside, it has a warm, cozy feel to it. Her prices are reasonable and she cares and loves what she does. I have never had anyone else be able to highlight or cut my hair as well as she does. She also does a great blow dry. I think Melissa and Sam the other stylists are great too, Melissa also used to work for Paul Kenneth. I would check it out! I highly recommend :) read more
