Aside from doing excellent work with my hair color, she does a fantastic job with cuts and blowouts. I usually hate getting my hair blow dried when I go to a salon because I feel like I'm getting violently attacked with a heat gun, but Esmeralda is not only gentle, but FAST and makes my natural pin straight hair look super shiny with nice, natural looking body. Esmeralda is now my go-to stylist for coloring and cuts at Salone Estetica. The salon itself is also really clean and everyone who works there is super kind and friendly. There's a really nice and warm community vibe with all the stylists and clients which I always appreciate at any business. It's centrally located in Winchester so it's easy to grab parking in the street for quick appointments, or you can go to the paid by plate lot by the nearest Winchester commuter rail stop to park which is about 5 min away. I came to my appointment early (15 min) and they immediately got to me and Karen was very polite and attentive. She did exactly what I wanted, a big chop (5 inches!) and framed my face. Another thing I like is that they ask before they blow dry. I hate putting any heat on my hair and have a sensitive scalp so that was nice to avoid. I have thick hair and most stylists cringe at having to blow my hair out after a cut. It seems to be my stylists favorite part. Instead of feeling like a burden as I have had at other salons, I leave there with the best blowout ever and it lasts me for up to four days. The Salon is very clean and everyone who I have met who works there has been extremely professional and accommodating. I recently brought my daughter who has biracial hair. She has a lot of it and needs to be handled with care. OUr appointment was with different stylists then the one I see. She did a great job easing my 8 year old through the wash, blowout and straight ironing. Her hair looked shiny and so healthy after her cut and blowout. She even put the cutest front braid in it. I know we were her last appointment of the day and she was not bothered to make my daughter feel special. She was so proud the next day at school and she still has the braid in 4 days later. I walked into a very warm and family-esque environment, sweet ladies, conversations back and forth, was really surprised that this place even existed. Its a hidden gem off the corner of Rt 1, not much to look at immediately, but a traditional mom and pop kinda salon feel when you walk in. I arrived early, my hair-dresser finished up a little late, was in no rush so I was completely understanding. She listened to my concerns about getting a trim, cutting the dead ends off. She decided it was easier to do this after washing and styling and doing a dry cut. I trusted her expertise and went ahead with it. The wash was a bit rushed, there was an odd smell from the sink area, though I imagine it was because of the hair-dye that was lingering in the salon (it's a small place.) She conditioned following the wash, I didn't get a deep conditioner treatment but didn't make a point to say anything out of courtesy. She followed up with taking me back to my seat and immediately started to tackle the blow-dry in my very thick long hair. She did style is beautifully, she cut some of the ends off, she suggested my hair was in rather decent shape and didn't need much. I accepted her opinion, she was very polite and kind, and she finished up and offered some nice suggestions on how to close up my split ends. I closed off my tab with the Groupon, gave her a $10 tip and went on my way. Overall, not a memorable experience, I felt the whole thing (minus the hair styling portion) was rushed, I didn't get the deep conditioner which would've really been nice for my thick hair, and lastly, I could've honestly had more trimmed off my hair. She said it didn't need much, but when I got home I saw and felt the straw ends that really should've just been cut off. I'm going to have to wait a little bit and get a proper cut to make sure the dead ends are off. They're all very nice people here, I imagine they're amazing at their craft in different areas, my experience isn't necessarily a reflection on poor service, more-so could've just been an off day or maybe just bad luck with my hair.

My hair is very curly and very dry. It needs lots of moisture and conditioner. I'm not sure what Lauren chose, but it was the most ideal shampoo and conditioner for my hair. She's very patient, she does not mind if you tell her what works best for you, she's very serious about her work, but has a nice sense of humor. I really loved the blowout she did. My hair came out perfectly and I am incredibly particular about my hair. She understood everything I wanted and gave it to me. I will say, for the uninitiated like me, I am not from Massachusetts so I'm not familiar with paying for parking, it is metered and you can do it on your phone. Also, they don't allow tips on credit cards which I did not know. I had no cash and my bank doesn't exist in Massachusetts. Thank goodness I did have a little bit of cash.
