Jack Hediger is a nice guy but he lacks reliable help. He moved me out of my home and into a storage facility and 2 months later into my new home. The first estimate was way off. Did not have the storage space estimated properly and had to get a second vehicle mid move and add an additional storage unit! Plus charged me $700 more than the estimate. They forgot items in the house and I had to wait on him to come back the following day so I could close on my house! Two pieces of furniture were damaged and he did have that repaired however Jack personally packed my kitchen and I still cannot find items that he packed. The boxes were not labeled properly and I still have not been able to find the glass for my coffee table. I have not gone through every picture frame box and that may be where it is, but it should be labeled in more detail. I specifically asked them to make sure my wardrobe boxes were at the door of the storage unit so I had access. I had no access and no idea where my clothes were for two months. In all it was very disorganized and the right hand didn't know what the left hand was doing. The total was $5400. Moved from a 1500 sq foot home with a 500 sq foot basement. The crew showed up high and damaged a lot of my furniture - lots of scratches and dents, a broken chair leg along with breaking the edge of a glass coffee table. I have tried to contact HRS multiple times (phone and email) and NO response. They banged a headboard into the ceiling and left a dent while Matt watched. Steve Hediger is the owner of a long time family business and was terrific to work with at every step. His son, Jack was in charge on moving day and was personable, professional and most of all careful and considerate of us and our belongings. They moved us from Denver to St. Paul, Minnesota and delivered the belongings 3 days after loading the truck. The truck and move was dedicated to us and not mixed in with other belongings. I've moved cross country 3 times and Hediger was far and away the best move experience ever. And the fairest price of all, too! They were one person shorter then quoted but still finished in good time and accordingly reduced the quoted amount. I have moved long distance 3 times now and Hediger was the best moving experience. I used Hediger to move in the month of December. Denver, CO to Saint Paul, Minnesota. Steve the owner personally came to our house to look things over and give us a quote. The price was very reasonable compared to other quotes we got from movers who only did quotes over the phone or online. Hediger did not tack on other moves with this delivery. No sharing of truck space! That is a very hard thing to find with other movers. We had a Monday truck load and a Thursday delivery. Very common time frame for a 900 to 1,000 mile move. Jack and his crew arrived on time and finished loading at 2PM just like they said they would. This allowed us daylight hours to travel to our new home in Minnesota. Thursday they unloaded the truck in record time on a bitter cold new fallen snow day. 2 hours to unload just as they predicted! BEWARE!!!!!!! They are thieves. They stole my 52" tv and numerous other items. They tried to raise the price on me for my long haul from by $300, 15 minutes before they arrived to deliver my belongings. I told them I could not afford anything above the contract price of $900 that they quoted me. They left within 60 seconds of unloading my stuff and I immediately noticed that they had kept my 52" TV. I called them within 15 seconds of them leaving and they wouldn't answer. I then called the police and the LA County Sheriff's Dept. told them if they didn't immediately return my TV, they'd be charged with Grand Theft. Steve and his son told me that they didn't need my TV because they "had hundreds of TV's" I'm sure they do!!! After a long drawn-out drama, and another round of police having to get involved, I finally got my TV back. But think twice before hiring these crooks! read more

The team was hard working, diligent and caring. Jack Hediger (our driver) arrived in Arizona on schedule and did an exceptional job of unloading and placing our furniture in the correct rooms. The team of sub contracted movers in Arizona apparently decided that Jack didn't need any help, so they never showed up and Jack unloaded the truck by himself without one complaint. I was referred to Hediger and wanted to support a local company, over a chain. The quote was that it would take 5-6 hours per an in-person inspection. Said it would take 1.5-2 hours to move my items into the truck, up to 60 minutes to drive to the new location, 1-1.5 hours to unload and another 60 minutes to drive back. It ended up taking 7 hours in total - $1050 to the company and another $90 in tips. I did also have to call them the day before my move, to re-confirm they would be showing up at 9a the following day. Seeing that I made the appointment 3-4 weeks in advance, one would assume the service provider would give a curiosity call in the days prior to just check in and re-confirm all is still a go. The team did arrive on time, actually were a few minutes before 9a. Son was very professional, obviously the leader and deserves nick-name of Sherpa; I've never seen someone move so many boxes in a single move, in such an impressive fashion, he obviously knew his stuff. However, he led the actual packing of truck efforts, and 2 day-labors type guys seemed to have been hired to do most of the actual moving items in & out of the property. The 2 labor guys didn't even know each other's names, despite showing up in the same truck and they seemed to be milking the clock to me, unable or unwilling to hustle and took a lot of unnecessary/ poorly loaded trips. One man was a smoker and bit overweight, he was huffing and puffing, sucking air 20 minutes into the process, obviously didn't have the stamina to do this physical labor. Took them 2.5 hours to load the truck, instead of the quoted 1.5 hours. I was told not to pack my closet, that they had wardrobe moving boxes for my use. When I asked for them for those boxes, was informed they had already started to pack the truck and the boxes were now blocked and unable to be pulled out for my use. Grumble, grumble... all hanger items were moved to my personal SUV, and personal SUV was not unloaded at arrival at the new property. Upon arrival at the new property, I had several other vendors showing up to the new place at the same time, so was admittedly distracted in actively supervising them unload. I had labeled / color coded 95% of my items for what room they went into in the new place. 80% of the labeled items were placed into the correct rooms upon arrival at the new house. My bed was set up, frame and all in bedroom and did think to myself that it was curious that the bed was set up, but that my leather couch in living room was facing the wall and had pillows vertically placed again the back of the couch with the ottoman then stacked lengthwise holding those seat cushions up vertically against back support. Seat cushions are only cushions that are removeable. I didn't get around to actually setting up that couch until later in the week, and immediately discovered a 5-inch ragged tear in the back-support portion of the couch. The leather couch is now ruined. I took photos and reached out to Stephen via phone about the damage. Was told to email photos and he would follow up. I emailed photos and outline of the situation, no response. Sent 2nd follow up email a week later and no response. Sent 3rd follow up email, a response finally received was that I waited too long to reach out and that the "guys" said no way they did this. So if I had reached out sooner, the guys would have fessed up? Either the time limit in my initial outreach reporting damage was the issue, or the guys said they didn't do it. I have zero recourse at this time, aside from a poor review. The customer is apparently always wrong with this company. Also, was forced to sign off on a document at the end of the process, a document that clearly stated it was to be signed before the move started. I was asked for a check or cash at end of move, however was never mentioned before then that it would need to be cash or check. Luckily, I was able to find my check book upon arrival at new home. Before my discovered damage, I was already disturbed by lack of hustle leading to additional cost, and lackluster customer service and quality of crew but whatever, it was moved and so be it. I would have given a 3 out of 5 review at this point in time. This was my first experience with paying for moving services, I've always been a roll up my sleeves and do it myself type of person. However, destruction of the leather couch now prompts a 1 out of 5 review considering discovered damage and poor customer service response. The customer is apparently always wrong with this company. Also, going to recommend you document condition of goods before you let any people into your house, in order to have more proof of the before & after condition and inspect every item immediately as it is unloaded. But in reality, you likely should just look elsewhere for your moving needs. read more

I waited a week after my move to post this review because I was so aggravated by my experience. I was recommended this company by another locally owned moving company who was booked out. I liked the idea of supporting a local company, so I called and booked through Steve. Now for the move itself... Did my items get moved? Yes. Was my experience with my company one that would make me want to hire them again? ABSOLUTELY NOT. They showed up 30 minutes late due to snowfall where the truck was parked the night before. I completely understood. They said they wouldn't move my glass inserts on my tables or my pictures (medium to small sized canvas wall hangings and/or frames from Kohls) because of liability and insurance concerns. I was a little surprised as I just had movers move these a year ago without a problem, but I went along with it. They were carrying out my mattress unwrapped and I asked if they had covers for transport so the mattress wouldn't get dirty (standard moving practice). They said no and that if they had known beforehand, they could have maybe provided them. Who doesn't have a mattress?? I was baffled, but still trying to roll with it. I originally hired 2 men, and as I was packing that week, I realized that a 3rd man would make the job easier, so I called the day prior and they were able to accomodate for an extra $30 an hour, which I was happy to pay. What was frustrating is that of the three men I was paying for, I felt like I was paying for 2 and a half men. Steve's 2 sons did a great job all in all. However, Steve said he was exhausted without much sleep from the night before. Initially, I was understanding, but he mainly stayed in the truck and shuffled around furniture/boxes most of the time and certainly wasn't what I would consider fully engaged for moving furniture. I was disappointed. The real kicker was when I went to pay. They knocked on my door at 12:30, started moving me at 12:45. We finished at my other location at 4:30 on the nose. I asked Steve how much it was. He said $650 for 5 hours. I was confused and asked why 5 hours because I was calculating 4 hours. He said there was travel time to/from the move. I live about 15 minutes from Golden and when I booked I SPECIFICALLY ASKED if there would be any travel time costs. Steve himself told me he wouldn't charge travel time because I was so close in proximity to their office. This was one of the selling points for this company. So I was really shocked that the very person who told me no travel time was now changing his story. I recapped my conversation with Steve, reiterating the no travel time I was quoted. He didn't seem to recall telling me that and said he would 'split the difference' with me and charge me 4.5 hours. I said that I would only pay 4.25 hours. We went back and forth several times. Finally he said, 'whatever' in an aggravated tone. So I gave him my card and he says to me 'we only take check or cash.' At that point, my frustration level went through the roof. I told him that he should really let customers know that up front. I didn't have a check or cash on me and I had to have my friend write him the check. Honestly, I probably would have given this company 3 stars up until the payment at the end when I had to deal with Steve. He was very rude and dismissive of me as a paying customer. He left a very bad impression and I didn't feel appreciated as a customer. I would NEVER use this company again b/c of that customer service attitude that started with 'we don't move that' and 'we don't provide covers for mattresses' and ended with what was point blank rudeness. read more

I have to start by saying that I have now used Hediger Relocation Services TWICE and they blew me away by their stellar service both times. The first time I hired them was back in September 2013. I was moving from a home in Evergreen, CO to Golden, CO and both had tons of stairs. Hediger's three sons arrived and were swift and extremely careful with all of my belongings. Not one item was damaged and everything arrived and placed in my new home exactly as I asked. They were very professional and I vowed to hire them again if I should ever need it. Well, I just finished with my second move today and again was super impressed with their service. This time I had my fiancé help manage the process and they were done in record time! Omg...Patrick & Matt worked miracles for me today! First they helped my Mom with a small job, then they helped me move a lot more than we originally told them. They were polite and extremely accommodating. Oh yeah, and fast! I thought I was going to have to dismantle the treadmill, but they did it before I could bat an eye....And they made sure it worked before they left. We have used these guys twice (our move to the old house in 2005, move to the new one recently), and we could not be happier. Our old agent recommended them, and their prices were the cheapest by far, and I've never seen a group of guys work harder. They were straight up and honest, and the company has been around for over 20 years.
