Can't speak for the regular restaurant but they catered a party for us and it was terrible. We had 34 people and ordered the 5 course "tasting menu" . The first three courses were less than a half a cup of food combined! One being the size of my thumbnail! My entree was a steak which came out overcooked and cold. The kitchen and staff were uncoordinated and some of my guests including children, waited a long time to be served. My complaints were met with lame excuses ( "'getting all the meals out on time is very difficult "was one) and no adjustments were offered. They are clearly unprepared for catered events and with my cost at $3,000 dollars, I strongly recommend you spend your money elsewhere. read more

We had an amazing steak and salad, with an out-of-this-world skillet cookie. Jacob, our waiter, was very attentive. We loved the cinnamon pear balsamic vinegar and butter olive oil. We went for lunch and they had $9 sandwiches + fries meal! The ambiance here is really relaxed. They also had a cool seating as some were purple suede couches and a bathtub with a sheet of glass on as a table! I got the pesto chicken sandwich but I was NOT a fan of it. So much pesto, dry chicken, and just not something that even tasted like it was pesto chicken. My bf got the honey bacon club and it was good. The fries were good but it had a weird after taste to it. I would come back only for the vibe and to try their dinner menu but I wouldn't come back for lunch! read more

Truly not worth the fuss (or prices). I dropped $160 with tip on a 2-top. It was good, but not great. The yak is delicious, but for $44 an entree, I'ma need more than just a thimble of micro greens and about 6oz of steak. Cocktails were great, and the service was really good too. The "breads" (just call them what they are: gussied-up pizzas!!) were only OK. You're called Hearth, your bread should be a focal point. And, you've got all these exotic and aged EVO and/or vinegar creations?? WHY ARE THEY NOT FEATURED AS COMPLIMENTARY OR LOW-COST APPETIZERS? I literally had to ask for some bread so I could try one of these. And the oil they brought out was butter flavored olive oil? Um? Give me butter. Give me olive oil. Don't give me something that doesn't taste as good as either. FAIL. Oh, and get rid of the goddamn oversized glass rectangular coffee table thing that literally everyone bangs their knee on (after a long day on the slopes no less!) while meandering over to their booth! read more

I used to go here on a fairly regular basis when it was Jasoh, and after they became Hearth but still had the Pub side and the Fine Dining side. I always thought the fine dining side was overpriced, but I always enjoyed the food on both sides. It had been a long time since I had been, so my husband agreed to try it with me. (His first time.) We were starving and wanted something comforting like chicken wings, steak, pasta, salads, etc.--like they used to have. NOPE. Super-pretentious overpriced menu with yak, elk, rabbit and pea shoots with everything. Nothing looked appetizing at all. Don't get me wrong: I embrace cuisineè, I can be adventurous (I cannot WAIT to try the molecular gastronomy going on at the Hilton!) but this menu seemed like it had nothing to do with what a patron would actually want to eat, and more to do with whatever weird kick the chef is on at the moment. Even the apps and salads seemed ridiculous. It felt like they were trying to ram their food agenda down our throats rather just putting a good meal on the table. Need more evidence? No Coke or Pepsi products--they contract with some company that has "Cola" and other hipster flavors. (I rest my case.) We left without ordering anything. Here's the thing: Ogden's restaurant scene has REALLY come along. If you want to compete on 25th Street you better BRING IT. Terrible Terrible service. Please see my last review, hopefully this was an off night, however it was too awful for us to ever go back. I made reservations for the terrace (our favorite because of the view) at 7:15. I also called 4 hours before the reservation time, to specially request that they put some candles and spice up the table for our arrival due to it being our first date night out since having a baby, and I wanted to surprise my wife. When we arrived, they had just seated a couple at the last table on the terrace, minutes prior to our arrival. The hostess was rude and unapologetic, and only replied that we could "sit inside and that people just havent left yet." We asked if we could just wait, and then instead they seated us on the terrace, but in a booth for 6-8 people. At least we got to sit on the terrace. Of course, no candles on the table or anything nice, when i walked to the hostess to ask and make sure they hadnt done it on another table by mistake, she responded rudely, and unapologetically once again. We then waited over 15 minutes before we saw a waitress, ordered drinks (which took over 10 minutes to get). When ordering I ordered the Yak, and was told that it was not available, because of the special. Im not sure how that makes sense, but hey, it was par for the evening. We asked for a few more minutes to decide since they didnt have the Yak, and then the waitress disappeared again for over 15 minutes, i waited at the counter for almost 5 minutes to request our bill from the hostess, because no one was available. We spoke to the manager on our way out to explain our displeasure, she was very polite and apologetic, asked if there was anything to she could do to fix it, and explained that the yak was just difficult to get, and it was not due to the special. Maybe a miscommunication between the staff and managers? We declined as we had to go home to our baby after wasting over 45 minutes and couldnt waste any more time. We will not be coming back, the food last time was great, and the waiter we had was awesome. Hopefully he is till there and hopefully this isnt the way this place is usually run. read more

I was ready for a good meal, to spend some money and enjoy a night out...well, that didn't happen. I feel bad for this place, I gave some feedback to the manager, but he didn't seem to care. My green salad was not good, a tiny bit of greens, few tomatoes, and bad dressing on the side, I could have plated it better. The fries were ok. I got the pork...super fatty, oily and just meh. The worst part was the surf n turf, the steak was TINY and not even 1/2 in thick, and tasted bad, with three shrimp undercooked. We actually felt awkward the whole time we were there. The people next to us sent food back, too. They said the beets were awful and none of their food was cooked correctly. The waitress said the main chef was out, or something... she wasn't helping the situation. We sat down for a while before we got drinks while the waitress told her life story to a table paying their check. Like 15-20 minutes later she could not remember my glass of wine, and had to come back to ask. We got a free dessert that I think was a piece of bread with chocolate syrup on it. We got a credit for part of our meal, they added 50% gratuity. We didn't even eat anything really. We paid and left, and grabbed a pizza on our way home. I would say do not go there, or maybe call and make sure the chef is working, keep your expectations REALLY low. To the manager and staff, step it up. You got a nice place... put some effort in, as there is no way you could think what we got severed is acceptable. read more

I like this place. Just like. Nothing more. They are over priced. They definitely should come down on their prices. They have downtown SL prices in Ogden. I like that they make all their olive oils and pasta, and even sell it in house. I don't recommend the charcuterie. So not worth it! They do have AMAZING garlic fries! DO get those! On my most recent visit, the menu seemed to be smaller then before. When I proceeded to order, she continued to tell me that they were out of this, and out of that. Um, shouldn't you have more inventory with a smaller menu? I don't know. But I wasn't happy and I was forced to order something I didn't want to eat. Food it good, but over priced. Good food, but keep in mind that we are in Ogden, Utah so that's not saying much. Other than the edibility of our dinner, everything else was horribly disappointing. Firstly, we were seated in the far corner of the restaurant, amid burnt out hanging lights and a non-functional electric candle.. quite the atmosphere. Our party ordered three cocktails and one glass of wine, which did not end up coming until after three reminders and after dinner had already been eaten. I ordered a salad with no cheese and dressing on the side, seemed simple enough. I guess not though because the first time it arrived dressed, and the second time it had cheese. The octopus risotto was tasty, though a portion for a small child. After an hour and a half of poor service, the owner finally came to the table and explained to us that they were "short staffed," but it was a saturday night so you would think they would schedule enough competent servers. On top of this, they tried to add an automatic 20% gratuity onto our check... ummm no. In conclusion, skip this restaurant. If you must eat in Ogden, go to Tona for sushi or even Lucky Slice for some pizza. Awful experience all around. read more

Hearth on 25th gets 5 stars from me. We loved the interesting pairing of blood orange olive oil with dark chocolate balsamic to accompany the focaccia. For cocktails I ordered the "lavender sparkle" and my husband ordered the "Title 32b" my drink was not quite what I was expecting. The lavender shrub part was so subtle that it was completely overpowered by the coñac and sparkling red wine. It was still a good drink. Just more dark and sweet when I was expecting something herbal and bright. For food we shared the hearth bread, endive salad and yak meatballs. The house made mozzarella was bomb! The flavor combination in the salad was perfect. Radicchio, endive, citrus, bacon and champagne vinegarette . Yum! The yak meatballs were tasty and covered in an amazing sauce and more mozzarella. Great service, great food, will order wine next time. We will be back. read more

My wife and I wanted a more upscale dinner to celebrate our anniversary without breaking the bank. We were very pleased with our dining experience. The restaurant is decorated very nicely and the service was great. We were especially pleased with our dinner selection. The portions were just right and the taste was very good. We shared the gnocchi and the braised beef tacos. The bill for 2 was just over $54 for two entres and a soup and salad. A yelp check-in saved us $10 off our order! We went on a Saturday at 5:30 and had no wait and sat alone in one section of the restaurant. I appreciate nice places like this on historic 25th street. I definitely recommend this as a worthy alternative to the local chain restaurants. read more

With a busy Thanksgiving schedule, we decided to try ordering "Thanksgiving To Go" from Hearth on 25th. We ordered turkey meals for 6 people, ham meals for 6 people, and some extra turkey to make sure we had left-overs. On the day before Thanksgiving, we picked up the food at their restaurant. They reviewed everything on my order and even carried it out to my car for me. When I got home, my wife realized that we didn't have any gravy. I called them about it, and they offered to drive it directly to my house later that night! I was so shocked and pleasantly surprized with their willingness to make sure we had a great Thanksgiving feast. Needless to say, the food was terrific and and we had plenty of left-overs to make sandwiches and soups with. Everyone commented on how much they loved the food. We are planning on ordering from Hearth on 25th again next year! read more

While in Ogden on business with friends We were looking for a restaurant open on Monday night. This find was a treasure with delicious food, nice drinks and a very thoughtful, great wait staff. I cannot recommend it highly enough. Who would have thought Ogden would have such a nice place to enjoy a great meal. I highly recommend this restaurant? This joint is lucky that I'm giving it 2 stars, only because the food was pretty good but not stellar and the alcohol was reasonably priced. We were rushed throughout the entire meal by the server. I was in Ogden with a cousin and my partner for a family history trip to visit the Browning museums and house. This meal was planned by me as a celebratory treat. We ordered an appetizer that never arrived. The entrees arrived far too quickly and the rabbit my partner ordered looked like it was cooked on the Sun. We would have liked to sit and enjoy drinks but again, we were rushed. The place was empty on a Saturday night yet the service was so random. I took my family to Hearth with high hopes... that didn't pan out. We had three appetizers : fried green tomatoes, home made potato chips and the strawberry salad. The fried green tomatoes were excellent. The potato chips were good, but some were burned. The salad was so tart it was inedible. For main dishes we ordered two of their most expensive items : Wagyu new york steaks, and one of us had the Bucatinni pasta. Here's where things went downhill. The Bucatinni wasn't cooked through (not al dente -- not cooked), and some of the noodles couldn't be chewed. Neither Wagyu was really a Wagyu steak, they were average grocery store choice cuts. For the price... this restaurant is a total bust. read more

An amazing find in this small town. The food is extraordinary and served with a flair that is usually found in much larger cities. The menu is changed seasonally and the ingredients they use are all local. It's a great use of farm to table experience. To start, we were drawn to this location after calling the hostess about a specific pregnancy craving (grilled zucchini). She confirmed that this was available and we were on our way. Although, it is listed as "casual", I would consider it "dress casual". I felt underdressed in cargo shorts, a T-shirt, and flip-flops; however, they were very accommodating of our attire and our 2 yr old. Our waiter, Chris, was exceptional. He made confident recommendations and knew the menu verbatim. He was an attentive, professional. Our food was impeccable. Calamari, pear & goat cheese salad, grilled oysters, elk & waffles, merlot duck & cherry raviolo, and the most tender beef shoulder I've ever seen in a "kid's meal". Stumbled upon this place when we needed to kill some time before our red eye flight from SLC. We had the yak meatballs, fig and pig flatbread and the pomegranate goat cheese salad. For dessert we had the Guinness chocolate mouse! Everything was so delicious!! They make their own olive oil, balsamic vinegar and soda bread. All the food tasted so fresh and it truly left such a good taste in my mouth! If I am ever back in Utah I will certainly be returning to this place!! read more

Came here for a mid day lunch. I got a delicious strawberry and goat cheese salad. It was a small portion, but for $6 I should have expected that. I also got an order of the truffle fries, which were pretty good. My coworker got a vegetarian sandwich which she liked and was a much heartier portion than the salad. What a let down.. They used Valentines Day as an excuse to charge a ridiculous amount for a 7 course meal that the chef phoned in. Had read great things, we weren't impressed. I had a wonderful dining experience at Hearth on 25th tonight. We had an amazing view and our server, Christopher, was extremely knowledgeable, confident and proud of their menu. We again had the charcuterie and I would order this consistently. There was a lovely blueberry balsamic, local honey, Beehive cheeses Big Johns cajun and Teahive, creamy blue, wild boar salami, piccante salami, something I think called felino salami, and my favorite Calabrese pepperoni. There was cashew butter and a plum puree, herb evoo and fig gastrique ($18). The only really far reaching suggestion I have is that if I were serving this at home, I would include fresh apple slices and maybe some red grapes. I think I also would prefer my house made sourdough lightly toasted. Next we had a lovely hot curry soup ($4). A pear, chevre, pistachio salad ($7) and finally the Pig and Fig hearth bread with all its glorious gruyere, prosciutto, onions, dried figs, drizzle of balsamic and sprinkle of rosemary. Grasping at straws, reconstituting the figs and a sprinkle of arugula might be nice. I washed this down with a delicious dirty vodka martini. Someday I will actually venture past the small plates to the entrees. This time around, I found most of the items on Hearth's menu to be inspired. It appears they have made some tweaks and no doubt everything is artful and thoughtful and amazingly scrumptious. I look forward to trying the Wild Mushroom Raviolo, Utah Berkshire Pork 2 ways, Espresso Elk and Waffles, and what sounds like the best cheeseburger one could ever have. I think I read on their blog about some of the vendors they source from including a 100% women owned lamb and veal farm. There's also an entry about the healthful benefits of yak meat. So Hearth on 25th has taken its throne as my favorite restaurant in Ogden. read more

Service was great. Atmosphere was great. Great selection of wine and cocktails Antipasto was good but pricy for size. Food was not up to par for cost. Inconsistent. The bison was so overlooked it was like leather, veggies just so so, and sweet potato purée was like baby food. Pear and Gorgonzola ravioli was good but not great. Strawberry shortcake style dessert was not good at all Chocolate decadence dessert was just a brownie. This is hands down the best place I've found to eat in Ogden since we relocated from the San Francisco Bay area. My wife and I stopped by for an early dinner and were surprised to see the chef bring out our appetizers. We chatted for a several minutes and he answered a few questions I had on the menu. I ended up ordering the quail and my wife ordered the duck. The chef's eyes lit up when we ordered our dishes medium rare. This led to a bit of a discussion around the differences between what we were used to in California and what we have found in Utah so far. (Lets just say that huge portions of overcooked chain/mass market food isn't what we are looking for.) My wife and I will definitely be back. Price: Right on target given the style of food.
