My first visit here for BLS recert. Mike was great! Very knowledgeable, went over everything. No reason for anyone doing a recert to fail this class! I appreciate his accommodating my request for the mannequins to be on a table due to a knee inury. Will most likely return here in 2 years for next recert. Tom should take a chill pill! I recommend heart savers . I was really like man it is so long but it went by really fast because the instructor Mike was really great and was very hands on. He actually showed us how to do some of the bandaging and it really helps to know these tips in an emergency. I will renew it there in 2 years. read more

This is the first time, in over 8 years that I have had to take a BLS class that wasn't "in house" for a medical facility I work for due to a transfer in the middle of my card expiring. I have to say, it was by far, the best class I have EVER taken!! I think that having 4-6 clients in a classroom, allowed me ample opportunity to ask questions and get feed back from the instructor. I need to thank everyone from the woman that took my original call ( I had never ending questions!! LOL), to the instructor Mike C. Went to Glendale location for cpr. The lady talking so fast it's difficult to follow. Old dude comes in to help and starts yelling at the class. Two instructors actually talking loudly during the video we were supposed to be watching. Old dude even commented on how the manakin looked like Bruce Jenner (well, it sorta did) , and when instructor 2 said he's running for office, old dude says" probably win in California ". Just come out and say you hate liberals dude. I'd rather go to California than whatever redneck dump you came from. read more

I took classes with this company a few years ago, and because of the great experience, I chose to go back again for CPR/AED and First Aid certification as CEUs for my massage therapy license. Their classroom is perfect -- large enough, spread out so that you aren't stuck behind too many people to be able to see, a restroom readily available -- all in all, perfect. The course content and the instructor (Mike Camden) were both excellent. He packed so much information in so quickly, yet it was all clear and understandable, with bits of humor tossed in to keep it interesting. I had recently been injured in a car accident, and the instructor modified the practice session so that I could still participate. (I couldn't get down on the floor, so he put a dummy on a table so that I could reach it and still fully participate in the practice session.) He was very friendly and easy to approach with questions. My time and money couldn't have been utilized any better. Thank you, Heart Savers, for providing such an excellent service! read more

I attended both the CPR and First Aid Class taught by Charles Austin, Monday, July 10th held at The Stratford at Phoenix from 8:30am to 2:00pm. In the past, I have attended Heart Savers classes in Glendale. I prefer their training and instructors over others I have attended during my 10 years of working in the behavioral health field. The classes were interesting, never dull. Charles Austin is one of the best instructors I have had. He provided facts and interesting information as well as instructing everyone on the proper procedure when performing CPR on adults, kids and babies as well as the Heimlich maneuver. I learned a lot even though I have been through this training many times before through the years. The first aid part of the class was also good. It was more lecture than hands on because he really couldn't demonstrate first aid techniques on people but his instruction was informative. He uses acronyms that are easy to relate to what he is teaching and remain in your memory. I like his teaching style. I highly recommend taking one of his classes. He was evaluating another young man who is going to be teaching the classes as well. He was good for his first time instructing a class. In the future, when I need to renew I will not hesitate to take another class with Heart Savers. read more

I will be avoiding this location from now on. Avoid if you're new to CPR. I went with my friend as a prerequisite for a college program. I took the class maybe a year ago. The instructor was young, entertaining and fun. I think her name was Liz or something. But it only takes one bad egg to ruin the whole experience. There was one young girl who thought she was an expert on CPR already. She snickered a lot and was making most in the class who were new to CPR uncomfortable. I kept waiting for the instructor to speak up or do something about it. She did not and chose to ignore it. I glared at the girl (which I shouldn't have) and she gave me a big fat smirk. I guess their hands are tied and they can't really control what their paying customers do in the class. But it still creates a hostile classroom environment. Don't think I'll be back to this location. read more

The instructor LIZ (in the Mesa location)was not only amazing at what she does but funny, friendly and easy to learn from. She made the couple of hours we were go by so fast. First let me qualify my review by stating that the CPR/First Aid training in itself was very informative and helpful. The instructor I had did an outstanding job, I could tell he was very experienced and cared about what he did. BUT... At the beginning of the class I noticed out of the 10 infant mannequins only one was black. Although I found it to be a little bit weird that there was this one random black mannequin out of 10, it really didn't bother me. However, I was curious to know why they chose to have one black mannequin versus having a more diverse and balanced ethnic distribution or just having all white mannequins. But at the end of the day however a company chooses to run their business is completely their right. So when it was time to begin our demonstration, me being the only black person in the class I decided to eliminate all awkwardness and select the black infant for myself. As you can see all the babies are dressed up in their cute little onesies but it wasn't until I got up close to my baby and noticed that it was dressed in a monkey onesie. Now I am the last person that anyone could accuse of race baiting but this immediately rubbed me the wrong way. But before I overreacted I checked all the other babies clothing to check and see if they could possibly be dressed in a monkey onesie as well. Unfortunately, that was not the case. All of the other babies were dressed in giraffe, bird, dolphin, sports, Princess onesies, etc. All but monkey onesies. Out of 10 mannequin babies the lone black baby ended up in the monkey onesie. So that means before dressing the babies there was a 10% chance that the black baby would end up in the monkey onesie but there was a 90% chance that the black baby would not. But it just so happens that it fell in the 10%? Is this a coincidence or did the person dressing the babies intentionally placed the baby in the monkey onesie? Let's just say this was done out of sheer ignorance. Does that make it ok? Now for those whites and ignorant people that don't see what the big deal is... Monkey is an extremely derogatory term used to describe black people by whites for hundreds of years and is still present to this very day. Not only were we called monkeys, the Constitution states that we are only 3/5 of a human being to begin with so seeing this in 2016 really made my stomach turn. I'm sure many out there will want these type of issues to just be swept under a rug and not be correctly addressed but this is a huge reason why society is filled with hate today because of the underlying and covert racisms that continue to remain prominent in this country. So I'd love to hear Heart Savers explanation and other's thoughts on the situation. read more

Needed to get CPR certified for school and this location truly had the most classes available! The class ran about 3 hours long and really did go by quick! I liked how there were a few instructors for our 20 person class as it made the demo go quick! I'm only deducting a star Bc I felt that the instructor would ramble some of the info and as a first timer in class I was trying to grasp all the info! Would deff recommend them if your needing to get certified and you get your card right after class. Ps they have some promo codes online floating around just google the name and you'll be able to get some money off as the class I took was $55 and is a bit pricey! read more

I don't give out many 5 star reviews, but my experience with Heart Savers was excellent. In order to gain a certain job, I needed to get CPR, First Aid and Title IX training. Heart Savers was one recommended agency...and they had it all. Now, the trainings in themselves were straightforward and not _too_ painful :) I really enjoyed our trainer, Tim, and his humor. He made it palatable and seemed to have his heart in the right place, so to speak. The organization with which I was attempting to gain employment also had a relationship with Heart Savers, and thus also a discount. So the cost, overall, was competitive. Now, all that alone would have merited 4 stars. Where they really earned their fifth star was in customer service. Apparently quite the opposite of the experience of others, I enjoyed accommodating, pleasant interactions with staff. I made my initial enrollment without a hitch...but then I reconsidered and wanted to switch classes around. I contacted the office and worked with a staff member (I want to say...Gennifer?) via e-mail to adjust the days. No problem! Well, I didn't realize that the different date for one class also meant a different site. Lo and behold, I arrive at their Glendale location to find that...no class here! Distraught and frustrated, I figured out the mistake I'd made and again reached out to Gennifer, for a second (and final) adjustment to my enrollment. Well, it wasn't a problem and Gennifer simply transferred me to an upcoming class. No additional cost, no hassle. With my experience, I would definitely recommend Heart Savers. read more

Nobody is thrilled about spending an entire Saturday in a classroom - especially over a holiday weekend - but Mr. Camden blew me away with his knowledge and effectiveness at teaching the material. He added great supplementary statistics to each section and engaged the class perfectly. Only suggestion - a one-time use CPR barrier should be included with the registration fee WITHOUT raising the fee itself. I imagine the mannequins have a cost to them and I hope you pay the instructors decently, but the facilities leave something to be desired. I was not looking forward to spending my Saturday morning in a CPR class. The last time I took CPR several years back, it was so boring and the class seemed to never end. I left feeling as though I didn't really learn anything and didn't feel confident that I would be able to help in an emergency. This time around, Liz's class was so much different!! Liz was an AMAZING instructor! Her teaching method was easy to follow and I feel confident that I will be able to assist someone in an emergency situation.
