I had to take the ACLS course for my job. Signing up and registering for the class was simple. This was a two-day class first part of the morning was dedicated to BLS and the 2nd part was for ACLS. Hannah was by far one of the best instructors I've ever had. She went through the information so thoroughly and paused if we had questions. She was funny which made class time fly by. She used her knowledge as a nurse and incorporated stories to make the information relevant and engaging which made the information easy to remember. I have always feared EKG strips and she broke down each rhythm to the basics that I FINALLY understood the material and not just memorized the strip. I will defiantly be sending my friends and retake the certification here again if Hannah is still there in two years! One thing to note: If you are taking ACLS the BLS portion will be included in the course. If you did not pay for the BLS portion you will not need to take the test and get your certification. My advice would be to just pay for both and have both certifications updated or recertified at the same time. You are still there for the same amount of time might as well take the test! I had to register in the front after we had a break to register for the BLS which was simple, and I got the book from them. Honestly not bothered at all for the extra fee as my BLS was about to expire in the next 6 months. I did overhear Hannah state if you have taken BLS course at one of their facilities within the week of your ACLS you might not have to take that part and come in later in the class but ALWAYS confirm! They are amazing at communication don't be afraid to ask! read more

I'll start off with the good with these guys in that they have multiple locations. I went to their Phoenix location and had Carolyn as my BLS/ACLS instructor, but more on that below. They're all over the valley, so finding a location close to home shouldn't be a problem. The other positive is that Carolyn pointed out a solid fact in that if you end up running a code by yourself then you need to stick to the algorithms, which are standing medical orders for ACLS, to keep from ending up in a lawsuit. A concept that kind of lit the fire under my rear end to make sure I know those algorithms up, down, left, and right. Now for the bad. I didn't like that these guys are so rigid with having the ACLS or BLS book in hand. I get it, AHA states that YOU HAVE to have the book in hand with you for the classes, but I've seen and heard of much smaller mom and pop training centers that will at the very minimum let you borrow one of their million books on hand so that you can sit appropriately for the class. Some of these smaller operations even have loaners on hand for that very reason. Not these guys. These guys insist that you buy a book and will legit send you walking if you do not purchase one from them or the AHA on the spot. Healthcare workers get paid a pathetic wage! What happens if I didn't have the $35 (BLS) or $50 (ACLS) on hand? You guys are a big enough outfit to have a few loaners on hand. Carolyn was a very knowledgable instructor and I'd expect nonetheless after decades of service and I thank her for that. But, she's a stereotypical nurse that eats her young. I still consider myself a baby nurse. I have less than five years experience and this was my first time re-certifying for ACLS. She often made me feel like an idiot when I couldn't recall something and threatened to fail me when I couldn't give the appropriate answer rather than teach how to ensure I remember this stuff. Don't get me wrong, I need to know this stuff for reasons stated above but A) don't be a dick about it and B) healthcare is a team sport, so it's not like I'm going into a code all by my lonesome. I know that I need to know this stuff every which way but, again, please refer back to A, especially when I'm a consumer paying for your services (i.e. teach me!). read more

4.5/5 LBW gives you the right amount of TLC for you to get your CPR certifications done quickly and efficiently. We had previously used another company but they limited their hours so it was very nice that LBW offered classes over the weekend so there was no need to take time off from work to get recertified. The building itself is around the corner from Republic Ramen at the end and shares the space with a realtor's office. The classroom we were in was pretty small and felt cramped but it got the job done. Our instructor was Ryan who was great. Since he is an EMT he had a lot of good practical knowledge to add to the standard video and book training. The mannequins they use have a sensor that detects whether your compressions are deep enough which was very helpful. As a recertification class it was more of a Cliff's Notes version of all the aspects needed to remember what to do in an emergency situation. The vibe here is more easygoing than the class I had taken at the other company. We were out earlier than the expected time. The room we were in got a little chilly (Apparently the room is either too hot or too cold) so dressing in layers might help or bring a jacket or sweater in case you get cold. Due to the convenience in scheduling times and ease of taking the class, I'd go here again for recertification. P.S. Since I'm always thinking about food, the cookies they have in the hallway during break are pretty tasty haha. read more

So I wasn't too happy to learn that I needed to take another one. Especially on a Saturday my off day early in the morning. Right in the middle of the Coronavirus pandemic, LBW insists on holding classes and will only give a 50% refund to those who cancel. Apparently, LBW has chosen to disregard the President's recommendation to not gather in groups of 10 or greater. It's a shame that they've chosen money over individual and public health. read more

I needed my BLS and found this class. The instructor John Messer was really good. He made sure that he emphasized the importance of saving a life by doing CPR correctly and efficiently. High quality compressions is a must. He made the class active and was easy to understand. He delivered everything that is easy to understand and follow. I WILL BE GOING TO LBW EVERY 2 YEARS! Moving outside of the hospital systems, I was scared and worried about where to go for BLS training. I found LBW through the AHA site and it was amazing! I booked online (last-minute) due to my own schedule and the Skills Session was quick, easy and painless! Their mannequins are well kept and fancy with lights and feedback to let you know the depth of your compression. Also, their tables raise and lower to your height, which for a shorty, was amazing for me! By the time I got back home, my ecard had already been e-mailed to me. First off, the instruction here was really thoughtful and clear! You could tell the teacher knew her stuff and could answer questions and bring the info down to earth. I would take a class here again for that reason...it was excellent. However, they have a zero tolerance book policy that is really flabbergasting. Apparently the AHA says you need to have course books in hand for the classes. I was taking a combined BLS/ACLS class and only brought my ACLS book...I didn't think I needed to have the BLS book if I was taking ACLS too. Upon check in, the receptionist told me I would either need to buy a new book, borrow one (but not from another class member), have someone bring me the book, or reschedule. This class was in Tempe and I live in East Mesa...so not close. I was lucky that my family member was able to bring me the book, but it was definitely an inconvenience for them. If I would have actually needed to use the book for the class, I wouldn't be writing this review, but we didn't even use the book. So wild! With gas prices being what they are these days, most people do not have the privilege to put more mileage on their vehicles and just reschedule and rearrange their work/child care schedules for a book that isn't even going to be used. I found it to be really poor customer service with unnecessary and extreme consequences. In all my years of nursing, and in various states, this is the first class that has enforced such a strict rule for entry to the class. Because you are an outlier in enforcement of this rule, I would suggest making it over the top apparent at the beginning of all your emails and on the home page of your website... "ENTRY TO THIS CLASS REQUIRES ALL COURSE MATERIALS (Books for EACH certification) IN HAND OR YOU WILL BE ASKED TO RESCHEDULE." "*Books available for purchase at LBW training center." Leading with this info will be ensuring success of your students and giving them a chance to know, UP FRONT, that they won't be allowed into class before making a potentially long trip and feeling sidelined or cornered to buy additional/redundant materials, prior to arrival. read more

I'm compelled to write a positive review for LBW because as an ICU nurse for 20 years, I have attended at least 10 prior classes certifications for acls and bls. LBW is BY FAR, one of the BEST! Expert teachers, lecturers, staff that keep your attention, know their stuff, address everyones individual learning needs and keep things running smooth!!! I was in a class with healthcare providers from all different walks of life. Nursing students to ambulatory NP's to experienced code team members and we all had a great experience... and we left with a great feeling of accomplishment....we can save lives!!!! In order to complete my NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification, I had to attend a "skills-check off" class in one of several locations throughout the Valley. I chose LBW Training Center because of all the positive reviews, but was disappointed in my experience. The positive thing is that our instructor, Christina, was very knowledgeable. She took the time to explain the rationales behind current practice recommendations and she kindly answered every question we had. She also took the time to clarify something for me after class had ended! However, I wish we would have participated in more hands-on learning. We spent the majority of the class discussing the changes made in the current NRP edition (all of which was information already in the manual), then going over some of the equipment, and ending with a *verbal* run-through of *one* clinical scenario. Just this skills-check off portion of my NRP certification cost $95 to attend, so it is not unreasonable for me to expect that I will practice skills in the class and leave feeling confident in my ability to resuscitate a newborn. After all, is that not what being 'NRP certified' should mean? Unfortunately, this is far from how I felt after completing the class. We only practiced using a bag mask for ventilation and drawing up medications into syringes. We did not practice using other ventilation equipment, nor inserting and using umbilical catheters, nor doing chest compressions. We also did not participate in any hands-on simulations, which I felt was the most disappointing part of this experience. Hands-on simulations are incredibly valuable because they allow you practice your skills, teamwork, and interprofessional communication in a safe setting. When I took BLS & ACLS, the various simulations truly helped me go through the correct motions when I finally had my first real code at work. I feel that if I had to participate in a real newborn resuscitation today, I would not perform effectively despite having memorized the NRP algorithm. I wish LBW Training Center had more equipment available and that we had run-through a few scenarios using that equipment. read more

I needed to take a BLS class for school, and I'm very glad that I came here! Everything was perfectly organized from the minute I signed up online. If you need a BLS class for school or just to get recertified then this is the place for you! The instructor was very entertaining, and she made sure that everyone understood the material before moving on. The cost was $39 for the class, and $17 for the manual (which can be purchased on the day of the class if you don't already own it). No time was wasted, and we were done in about three hours! Just took my ACLS and BLS with Dr. Meser, and I highly recommend LBW and Dr. Meser. I've taken BLS before with Red Cross and at LBW, the quality of classes is exponentially better: the caliber of instruction, organization of class time and material, and depth of knowledge are amazing. Dr Meser makes a long training interesting and challenging, but leaves plenty of time for questions and practice. Unlike my previous trainings, the equipment at LBW is up to date and enough for people to work in groups of 1-2. I recommend doing ACLS/BLS at the same time (you get a discount), and if you are renewing, call and ask about schedule options because you can probably complete the required work of the first day at home and just come for the review and exam. read more
