Accommodating. We walked in 10 min before closing with a need for some noodle soup after hanging out at Spanish Banks for the sunset and they obliged us with a takeout order. The place isn't big but has a homey kitchen and a few tables inside. The soup was piping hot (yes!) and the order process was straight-forward. Choose noodle type, all veggies or just some, plus your protein or seafood. Price wise isn't the cheapest when adding eat protein, shrimp, etc other than veggies is an added 3-5$ but it was good. Broth was flavorful and felt homemade. The pork wonton was my favorite over the lean roasted pork. It didn't blow my socks off but I would definitely order here again.

We were initially planning to go to a Thai restaurant nearby but it was closed for their "lunch break" and wasn't opening for an hour. Hubby and I were hangry already so we checked Yelp for a recommendation nearby. We were glad that this was close-by and that they offer healthy food since the hubby was watching his food intake at the moment. The place looks family-run and they were very accommodating and warm. They knew it was our first time there so the lady explained to us how ordering works. They provide an order sheet per person and you tick the boxes of the vegetables, noodle type and meat/seafood/dumplings you would like in your noodle bowl. The hubby ordered his noodle bowl with their chicken dumplings and he loved it! We actually bought a bag of frozen chicken dumplings to bring home (20 pieces for $8.00) and the owner taught me how to cook it at home. My bowl was comprised of my chosen veggies and prawns and I added a bit of their homemade chilli for a bit of a kick. It was a great meal that felt healthy and suitable for the chilly weather outside.

This is like my Mom's kitchen! Healthy noodles, fresh vegetables, no MSG! Friendly owner chef, who treats you like his family members, what more can you ask for?? Only the cost of $10.00+!! Anytime when I am in Kitsilano, around Macdonald and West 4th, I will go and have a big bowl of buck wheat noodle soup with chicken and if lucky, if Colin is not very busy, we will enjoy an afternoon with friendly, enlightening conversations! I would highly recommend this place!

Definition of a great hole-in-the-wall..... Was visiting from the States with a friend, who had come here before and highly recommended it. Now I know why. Management - I believe this place is owned and operated by an older asian couple. The owner was very welcoming and personable. You can tell he is very well-liked by the several customers who dropped by just to sit and chat with him. Also, his wife runs the tailor shop right next door where he sometimes helps out at (in case you had some clothes to alter). Ordering/Food - On a piece of paper provided at the table you simply mark the ingredients you want in your bowl and give it to the them. The noodles and broth had the perfect amount of flavor and you can really taste the heartiness. Everything is fresh - they hand cut/boil/prepare everything right as you order. Also, like a previous Yelper mentioned, they are very generous with their veggies. Note: Cash only...and for those visiting from the US, they take US dollars! A small bowl is about $8?....not more than $10.

Your preference will depend upon subtleties about noodle thickness and texture and broth flavors, but there is always, always a line in front of Ramen Danbo. A lot of it is probably due to hype or fame, but I have to admit that I think it does edge out the others in several ways. I think the noodles themself are more flavorful and more delicate. And I have to say the pork was extremely tender and flavorful. The egg was perfectly prepared, and the broth was perfectly seasoned to my desired spiciness level. They also do a great job searing their gyozas. Because of its overwhelming popularity, they have perfected the ordering process so that you can fill out a form while you're in line, which greatly reduces your wait time. It's easy to get in and out of here in 30 min, and I'm sure that is their goal. As a result, the dining experience might not exactly be relaxing, but if your focus is on the best quality bowl of noodles that you can get, I think it is worth the wait.

You order and they make it in front of you and you head over to grab your tempura or sides and then you head off to the till to pay. It is a very efficient system. The place is clean and has a good amount of seating. I highly recommend coming here for lunch. They also have late night special for those partying out late and are hungry.

Noodles a bit under, just a tad too firm and didnt have the signature chew. I had the nikutami bowl, and the broth was too salty. The egg was soft-poached fine, and the beef was fine. I also got a tempura shrimp, which was fine. A bit battery heavy but crispy and fresh enough despite sitting under the heating lamp. Also got a piece of tempura spicy chicken - basically coated in shichimi and i think chili oil. This one was WAY too salty. They had a new yuzu drink which I also tried - too sweet, and for $5, total rip off. Considering the quality, their prices are on the high side. Its just not good enough a product, especially when there is exceptionally good ramen to be found elsewhere in Vancouver. Street meter parking if you can find it. Otherwise there are paid lots nearby. Counter service, and people were friendly enough. The inside of the restaurant is typical. Clean enough. nothing fancy.

Paid parking was not too hard to find on the Main Street but during busy dining hours it might be difficult. We got seated right away at the bar since there were no tables open and the service was quick. Traditional Japanese style ambiance and even the bathroom had rounded Japanese bowl sink. As someone who doesn't have chicken broth (paitan style) ramen, I was really looking forward to the original ramen I ordered but I was a bit disappointed in the flavor profile of the dish. The ramen had both chasu and seaweed paired with thin round noodles. The broth was creamy and had a hint of chicken flavor but even adding several rounds of their soy sauce/salt seasoning they have on the side to adjust your broth to your liking-- I found that the richness of the soup was not what I had expected from the reviews that I read prior to coming here. Overall, a bit disappointed in the flavoring of the broth but maybe we came on an off day. I would be willing to give it a shot again in the future if I had ramen cravings and given that it was very affordable ($11-15 per bowl with tip), but I would probably opt to try another place first.

Review #3 for 2026 I…read morereally wanted to like this place. I watched many videos and read reviews before coming here, but it just did not hit the spot. After a cold day of exploring Stanley Park, we felt that ramen would really hit the spot, so we went here not wanting to deal with a wait at Danbo with a hungry and tired toddler. There was NO wait when we arrived here and we were seated immediately... which for a place that was really hyped up, should had made us think twice. There was only 1 other party at the restaurant. Now, the workers were super nice and the food came out quickly and we did eat everything because we were starving. We all ordered the cha-shu tamago ramen, 2 of us got spicy and 2 of us non-spicy. It came with extra chashu and the soft boiled egg for about $20 Canadian. The bowl was a good size and there was a promo for free extra noodles while we were there. Everyone except me in our group took advantage of it because I was too full from my bowl. Now, the broth here is different from other places because it is chicken based and not pork based. Everything I had seen about this place promised the broth is every bit just as good as the pork bone broth... however, the broth we received looked flavorful, but was bland. It was completely bland. There was no richness to it, not even a hint. I don't know, coming from southern California, the flavor just was not there period. We did all eat our food because we were starving, but it for sure did not hit the spot at all. Maybe we got an off day? Otherwise our broth had literally zero flavor to it. We all wished we had tried the other ramen place instead right after trying our ramen. Would I come back? I will have to say definitely no. We do not live in Vancouver and I do not want to waste any meals on a place that did not taste good the first time we went.

The gentleman (owner?) greeted us and provided us with some suggestions on their best sellers. During our dining experience, he was a little loud with shouting instructions to the kitchen and we did feel a bit rushed to finish our meal and not occupy the table with diners lining up. I ordered the beef noodle soup, and the noodles were prepared well (good texture and not soggy) and the soup had a slight but not overwhelm sour taste from the preserved vegetables. The beef wasn't as tender as it could be, but it wasn't chewy or tough to eat. Prices are reasonable at around $20 after tax and tips. While it wasn't the best or most authentic beef noodle soup I've had, it does hit the spot if I'm craving Taiwanese food downtown or want a hot bowl of noodle soup on a cold day.

I think most people do that so it also gets filled up during the lunch hour rush. The food is ok, nothing special. The price increase makes it even less appealing. I don't know why there is chili in my Taiwanese beef noodle soup. I don't like spicy soup. Lucky I am ok with spice but I wish it is stated in the menu? So if you cannot take spicy food, check with them before ordering. The beef noodle soup is tasty as I do like the addition of pickled vegetables in it, giving a bit of tartness. The beef is tender though the quantity is very little. More noodles than meat ratio. The combo is totally not worth it now that the price has gone up to about $13. If you want rice and noodle for lunch, I think Peaceful Restaurant across the street is a better bet. At least the portion is bigger.

Usually, this soup base has a lot of depth and flavour from broth that's been simmering for a long time to extract those flavours, but this was probably one of the worst ones I've tried. Beef Brisket and Beef Ball in Noodle Soup (Large $17.62) - again, VERY bland broth. The noodles also tasted sort of like freezer burn? Decent portion of meat and filling enough.
