There is plenty of indoor/outdoor seating and the outdoor lighting is welcoming. There are TVs outside. That's the best I can say about this place. SERVICE. IS. TERRIBLE. We asked the inside bartender whether servers were coming outside, or whether to order our own drinks and take them outside. The bartender said "we have servers outside that will take your order." We waited outside for over 15 minutes before losing track of time. It was a Monday night and they weren't that busy. No one came by. However, in that time, we did see 4 different servers make the trek outside...only socialize with other patrons and...play with their dogs...and then go back inside. Either let us order our own drinks at the bar or spend 5-10 minutes taking our orders/bringing 2 drinks...and then go back to socializing/ignoring customers. Not too hard. This is my Tuesday bar but I'm here other nights as well. They have daily specials which is awesome but on Tuesdays, it's Texas Tuesday. So any Texas beer or liquor is $3. They've got a big patio with lots of standing room area and long picnic tables and plenty of TVs inside and outside. You can drink and play games like the shuffle board, darts, the ring hook game...whatever that's called...good bar for group of friends. Oh and it's dog friendly :) I always see lots of dogs here. Really good beer menu. Good atmosphere. But the food has gone way downhill. I've been going there somewhat frequently over the last couple of years and initially really liked the food. In the last year or so they have forgotten how to make a burger - which is a significant part of their menu. I don't know what they do to them but they are somehow spongy and overcooked at the same time. I feel like they buy pre-made, thin patties and re-heat them in the microwave. Their burgers didn't used to be this way. Other menu items, like over-fried boudin balls or 6 french fries in an order have their own issues. I went here with a friend the other night and had a nice time. Our server was pretty awesome. A young attractive gal that was super cool and gave us the perfect amount of attention. I had the burger here (because, it's what I do) and it was pretty damn solid! Simple, no frills, just the way I like it. The buns are not sweet, and the toppings were fresh. 4 stars until they can fix the parking situation and stay open longer. Other than that, rad joint.. the menu is solid for food, craft drinks and craft beers. I've never left there unsatisfied by the staff or the items for sale, they have rotating craft beers too. For example, most burgers come on texas toast but you can swap for a homemade bun. Also recommend the grilled romaine salad and their great variety of grilled cheeses. This has nothing to do with this place being a Chelsea supporters bar and I'm a Tottenham supporter. I might be coming here again due to the fact this is the new place for Austin England Supporters will be meeting up. Also this is the home of the American Outlaws: Austin Chapter which is supporters of the U.S. National Team. I like the patio and the inside of the bar. I was lucky to find parking as I know it's tricky to find parking. The service was good. I was on the fence with the food and that's why I'm giving it three stars. The sweet potato fries were good. I ordered the Ponyshoe which is a cheeseburger with 1/3 lb Angus chuck patties, topped with French fries and gruyére sauce and I wasn't too impressed by it. Haymaker is a place to go when you: 1. Want to watch a sports game, any sports game! 2. Want to play some pool or throw some darts. 3. Want to sit at a table with strangers and maybe make some new friends, or just eavesdrop and judge. 4. When you're in the mood to say, "Fuck heart disease, diabetes, and cancer. I'm invincible! I do what I want!". Or if you're just really wanting to grub down on nasty food and you don't even care if it kills you. This place was hopping when we went, I guess because it's brand new to the 'hood, and even though there's lots of cool stuff to do on Manor already, I guess the locals were still sorely wanting a neighborhood pub/sports bar. I've heard this place is owned by the Black Sheep folks. If you read through my reviews, you'll see it's no secret I don't love Black Sheep... This place is and isn't like BS. The crowd here feels more mixed to me. The night we went, they were showing the US/Mexico soccer game. There were hardcore sports fans, old people, bros, brodettes, tattooed hipsters, dudes with mustaches, children, and possibly some exuberant Europeans. All kinds of folks. Communal tables usually make me feel nervous because I'm awkward and hate people, but I also like people and happening places, so this ended up being okay, and we even chatted a bit with our table mates. Note that this is truly communal style seating as in you find your own table, no one will seat you, and if you're shy, it might take a while for a waitress to notice you to take drink orders/bring menus (you can get these at the bar, too). There are TVs everywhere. This bar is serious about sports, and it's a great place to watch them, if you don't mind noise and general camaraderie (isn't that the point of sports?). There are like a billion beers on tap. I don't know much about beer, but they had a lot of ones I like, as well as some delicious looking mixed drinks. And as for number 4 on the list above... the pimiento monte cristo was so good, yet so greasy and horrible for me (a little salty for my taste, too, but that's kind of the point of bar food. DRINK MOAR BEER). I had the BLT with avocado (also known as a BLAT) and the homemade kettle chips... amazing sandwich, amazing chips. It was worth all the next-day shame and self-flagellation in the form of eating copious amounts of vegetables while experiencing painful carb cravings. They have an incredible menu of calorie bombs, including an amazing looking fluffernutter monte cristo for dessert. Yeah, you heard right, Elvis killer in the house. Come here any time for drinks, sports, and to hang out with friends or strangers. Come here only occasionally for delicious, artery clogging pub food. And because you're all expecting it, yes, they have poutine. No, I didn't try it, but it certainly looked legit - there are two, a traditional French Canadian style with brown gravy, and a southern style, with white . Glad to find another good bar to watch sports at, enjoy good drinks and beer, combined with some great food. This is a great addition to the Manor area. Its been open a few days, and I must say it was hopping in there. The large parking lot was full! You get seated by yourself, either at the massive bar, or at the community tables. Lot of screens, a few pool tables, saw darts and shuffleboard in there as well. Lots of beer and drinks options, for good prices. They have specials everyday, yesterday was TX beers for $3. We ate a pimento cheese monte cristo, which was tasty, but salty, but then again that is typical of bar food, so that you drink more. I also ate the vegan bratwurst with sauerkraut which was quite delicious. The sweet potato waffle fries were fantastic though! Finally, a sports bar on the East side! Holla!! Pool tables, a ton of TVs, BEER (beer, and more beer), and yes, bar food. But folks, this is no ordinary bar food. It's like...if Paul Qui grew up in a trailer park and decided to do bar food. What I mean is, this stuff will kill you. Pimento cheese spread on white bread, beer-battered, and fried, then smothered in salt? Good lord. SO FRIGGIN GOOD. but seriously, as my date put it, "This is the worst thing I've ever put in my body." Lol. And yet, also the best. So much talk about the poutine but when I realized it was just fries with a bunch of shizzo on top, I passed. Instead I went for the Croque Madam. Sounds fancy, right? Well, yes and no. Plain ole deli ham, mustard and cheese inside that white bread again, beer battered and fried, plus that yummy salt. But did they stop there? No, because what makes it a madam (and not a monsieur) is the fried egg on top, heck yea! And then Haymaker turned it up to 11 by smothering it with cheese sauce. And I ate almost every single bite, saving one small piece of crust figuring someone might want to tuck it away and use it in a plot to kill unsuspecting fowl. My point is, if you are going to get your drink on, then get your munchie on, you should absolutely do it here. There is not a single Brussels sprout on the menu, and you should be grateful for it....because it has been replaced with fluffer nutter. I will mention the beer again because there is so much of it. Plenty on tap, but the bottle selection rivals Craft Pride or Quickie Pickie. The only odd thing is there are no prices anywhere? And, a few taps were Nitro which I think they should note on that beer's placard (maybe with a little 'N' if anyone is noting my constructive criticism). I know I'm snobby and all, but if you were expecting 512 Pecan Porter and instead got flat diet coke (i.e. 512 Pecan nitro) you would be sorely disappointed. On the other hand, if the Left Hand was on Nitro I would be MORE inclined to order it. Just sayin. One more time with the TV's because when asked, the staff put on the Red Sox game by request (god bless you) and as I'm sure Erik W will rave about, it was directly from NESM. I'm amending my review because of the beer prices at Haymaker. The other night, three regular pints of beer--from Sierra Nevada, Circle Brewing, and Austin Beerworks--cost me just over $20. Another night, I ended up paying $9 for one 12 fl oz bottled beer. I'm not saying that it's wrong or even very unusual to charge so much for beer, but Haymaker should LIST THE BEER PRICES ON THE DRINK MENU. Then customers won't feel shocked, deceived, and/or ripped off when they get their bill. I never would have ordered a bottle if I knew that it was the price of a whole 6-pack. I also wouldn't have ordered pints that rang in at $6.50. From now on, I'll be coming here for drink specials only, and driving to Draught House for nicer (and cheaper) pints. read more

Haymaker... I was already sold at the name. Then I saw the logo which is a giant bear with boxing gloves!? heck yes. Then I saw the beer list and cocktail list, impressive. I was told by my gf that the drinks aren't as strong as we like so I opted for their Mimosa special which was allll booze and a drop of juice. YAY! double yay? $2! Pro tip: They have different Mimosa mixers so make sure to ask! I had the original and a blood orange. The atmosphere is great. It's everything you can expect from a bar except it was clean well designed, and the service was pretty darn good. Despite the waitress being totally clueless she was a sweetheart. I had the BLT*CA which was on Texas toast (the thinner kind) perfect bacon, lettuce, tomato, avo ratio. Bacon and bread were crispy. The portion could have been better. My only gripe is that the up charge for their waffle sweet potatoes are $1.50 which I wouldn't complain about if it weren't for the fact that the serving size was teeny tiny! And they were crisp and delicious so naturally I want more..Their creamy jalapeno is actually spicy and a great pairing for them. Lots of TV screens, great for social gathering but if you want to be able to hear your buddies sit outside on the patio. read more

A colleague and I ate here tonight, the restaurant's second night in operation. It was crowded, and apparently was last night also. We shared an appetizer of traditional poutine. I was glad to have tried it, but I now need never to eat it again. It tasted good, but I like plain old french fries better without stuff on top of them. I ordered the Haymaker, which I don't think came from the vegan menu. It was huge, and very tasty. There is no need for an appetizer if you order this. My companion ordered the Wisconsin Bratwurst and a salad, and liked both of them. She said the jalapeño ranch dressing was very hot. They have a nice selection of draft beers, with beautiful tap handles well-displayed, as well as lots of bottled and canned beer. I believe they also have a full bar, but we stuck to beer. The staff was great; they hustled and got the food out fast, and were cheerful and friendly while doing it. They have way too many TVs--about a dozen too many for my tastes. I''ll go back, but not too often. That type of food tastes great, but I can't afford to subtract that many years from my life by eating it often. read more

I HATE giving 1 star. In fact, this is my first 1 star ever, but I can't keep my thoughts to myself. Last night around 11, after the dude got off work, he and I went to grab a drink and sit out on a patio and relax. We arrive, park, and walk into a BLARING sound system PUMPING the basketball game... by "the basketball game" I mean the one everyone wanted to hear, because on every other TV there were "the other basketball games". So we get a play by play of a game I don't give a crap about at a bar that literally states on their website "It's comfortable. We have TVs if you like sports, but we're not a sports bar." THEN TURN THE MUSIC BACK ON!!! The server was so unbearably rude you'd have thought we sat down in her living room with our pants off and expected her to cook us dinner. It was UNREAL how awful she was. I mean granted, if a basketball game was being pumped out of every orifice of a restaurant I was working at, maybe I'd be nasty too....but basically she threw menus at us very annoyed, asked us if we were ready without a smile or eye contact (she literally looked like her eyes were stuck in a permanent eyeroll), took the BF's drink order, delivered it and then grabbed our menus away when we said we weren't eating. The last we saw of her was telling my boyfriend that you have to be 15 ft from the door to smoke...which is cool, but she was rude and awful and for that we left immediately to go to Butterfly Bar where normal people can talk to each other and service is done with a smile and free popcorn. I WILL NEVER GO BACK...I've already found a better bloody mary in this town and if I have to I'll carry Slim Jim's in my purse for garnish, you bet I will. Great bar on Manor. Nice addition and provides another option besides School House. There are multiple TVs here, making it a great gameday spot. Lots of different angles, so there isn't a spot where you can't get a glimpse of the game. Nice tables and stools, and they've got darts, pool, and shuffleboard to play. Parking is pretty easy here too, and there are some spots in the back. The drink specials are pretty killer. Got a pitcher of (512) Pecan Porter Nitro for $20 ($2 off on Sunday), but I want to come on Friday for their $2 frozen margaritas and $3 beer-ritas, yum. Great selection on draft and bottle as well. The waitresses are really friendly, helpful, and timely. Didn't feel like anything took too long to come out, and the staff are pretty mindful of clearing out your empty glasses, trash, and used dishes/trays. Something I was actually pretty impressed with. Food wise, solid. I got a patty melt for comfort food's sake. They actually cooked the beef patty medium (wow!), and there were ample pickles and onions. The sandwich wasn't overkill with cheddar, and the toast was appropriately buttery - it was a pretty satisfying sandwich. Tried the pimento cristo, and it was tasty - fried well, cheesy, and came with a slight kick. The fries weren't super special though, pretty average. This is a LUNCH review, the bar itself seems well put together and has a good selection of beers, cocktails and the happy hour deals look good. I reserve one star for places that end up making me ill or cause me to leave without paying a tip. Haymaker earns two. The server was nice enough if a bit on the slow side. But I'm aligned pretty much evenly with D.S.'s review. Here's my lowdown and letdown on what we paid 41 dollars for including the 20% tip. Starters: Paid 75 cents to try both mustards with our pretzel bite app. Seriously? You're going to charge for that tiny plastic container of mustard when I'm about to give the reasonable server her reasonable 7 $ tip due? Besides, the beer mustard was unbalanced with too much beer flavor. One cocktail: The cucumber / mint infused vodka with club soda. Great, refreshing. 6 bucks. She got a BLCT. Tilamook cheddar? give me a break or at least give us enough cheese to taste. Tomato? Fail. Two tiny thin cut edges that were all tomato skin with virtually no flesh. Who does that? No middle slices, on a friggin' BLT for God's sake? FAIL. Bacon was good and peppery. Overall the sandwich was mediocre at best. She did say the bread was good. I got the Haymaker, which came with two burned pieces of texas toast covered in a miniscule amount of beef shreds (good enough flavor and tender, but sparse). This was topped with french fries, "gouda sauce" (my ass!! how about a whitish velveeta flavored sauce???), and coleslaw. I didn't eat the bread, the sauce if it was legit and had any gouda in it at all was a failure in texture and flavor and belied the good that gouda can do to a sandwich. Mine, unlike hers, had reasonable slices of tomato, but they had not flavor. Melvin's just flat wipes its ass with this place in terms of a meat sandwich. Fries too were just meh. I eat out every day for lunch and this could have earned a rotation spot as it's right down the street from us. Haymaker is what seems to be a good bar, but is a poser food establishment. Just what the East side ordered! First off, and very important, lots of PARKING! Rare in Austin - starting off GREAT. This place has a great menu, some very bar food style gluttonous offerings (a few Cristo style sandwiches, Poutine, and a Blue Cheese Pecan Sauce Burger) and also a number of healthier and vegetarian/vegan options - I really dig what they did with the menu. 40 craft beers on tap, like another 100 bottles (large and small format), as well as some tasty mixology style cocktails. Friendly and professional staff - even when things are busy. And finally, I love that this place is an "every-persons" bar...it was mentioned in someone else's review, so I am going to borrow from @Sarah P.: "The crowd here feels more mixed to me.
