How is it I've not been here until last night? I actually spotted a photo of the twice baked potato awhile back on a friends post and had to ask what it was. Look at the photos and you will understand, it's turned up so it sits upright. So I bookmarked and followed on FB. I saw a post yesterday about their Friday night special. Steak or Mako shark. We made reservations which I would encourage. They will not seat you until your time, that was clear on the phone. You do have the option of sitting at the tavern next door but since you are right on the river/creek, you should take the stairs on the side of the restaurant to a deck overlooking the falls and water. This might not work on a chilly evening. I really wish I would have made a 5 or 5:30 reservation because that would ensure a table at the window which overlooks the water and falls as well. Full glass pane so very nice views. We were there at 6 and seated promptly. They do have a chalkboard on the wall and the waitress explained that with each meal, we could choose a starch and a veggie or two veggies, etc. the desserts were listed here also. Since I had already seen the special online, I already knew what I was having! The 30 day aged sirloin topped with compound butter. Plus a side salad and that twice baked potato. We started with a grilled shrimp appetizer. Spicy marinated shrimp grilled and served over cheesy polenta cakes with a warm gazpacho sauce. They were really good. And I know we were hungry because my husband frowned after getting two each and said he could eat a dozen more. Salads next which as "foo foo" lettuce (per my husband). Croutons and tomato. Tasty ranch. The waitress failed to bring bread. It was mentioned and then she forgot so that was a downer. Other tables had bread. Time for entrees. My steak was cooked perfectly medium. Warm pink juicy center. The butter really set off the flavor and seasoning. So good. The twice baked potato tasted good, but was a tad dry. In retrospect, I should have asked for additional butter and better yet, more sour cream. And though I was full, the large group table next to us had ordered one of every dessert. They have a chocolate bouchon and a creme brûlée all the time and specials was a pumpkin cheesecake and a strawberry creme layer cake. How does one choose?? Cheesecake is my first love but they got the last piece! The chocolate bouchon sounded good-like a brownie surrounded in molten lava cake and topped with vanilla ice cream. Wow. Too rich so I opted for the creme brûlée. It was done perfectly and small enough that I didn't make myself sick. Each table had a candle, cloth tablecloth and cloth napkins. It's casual but on the nicer side so definitely not a place you go after a day on the Elk River. It was worth the drive up from Bentonville and I'm looking forward to going again. This is the second time we've been here. It's a great location. Right on the river with a great view and the sound of the river flowing over the dam. The menu is kind of small but the food is excellent I wish they had more local seafood on the menu but everything we've had was great. Only downside is that the acoustics are bad and with just a few people talking, it gets loud very fast. For its location a food. It's great. We'll be back. read more

Prime Rib: Wednesday is their special and only Prime Rib offering. The chef has an excellent preparation method with a tender piece of prime rib and much flavor. The chef responds to the guest's request for a "doneness level". I requested my vegetable side of Brussels sprouts to be charr'ed and they were perfect. It is not a quiet place to carry on a conversation, & the dining room stack chairs are not comfortable, but the chef does make up for that. We came for lunch on a lovely Saturday at the end of summer, based on the yelp reviews. Luckily we got there early, around 11:00 AM, because we got a table right by the windows and by noon it was really filling up. It's not a fine dining five-star place, but if you want something very delicious in a pretty setting with a lovely river view, definitely stop here. We started with the fried green beans, which, yum, and then I had the BLT (which may not be on the menu as of this writing) and my husband had the hamburger. We crushed them (even after eating every single fried green bean of the appetizer). In fact, my husband said that was the first time he'd ever seen me eat an entire sandwich. It was so good. I've heard about this place for a while so I thought it was time to try it out. First of all, when you pull up you aren't sure what you're about to walk into. It's definitely got a back woods look to it. All I can say is "Go in!!!" As soon as we walked inside, we were greeted by a smiling face. We were a bit early so she directed us to either head outside to the deck that overlooks the river (beautiful) or to step next door into the tavern. The tavern was a little smokey. But the drinks were good and they also had a great view of the river. Now for the food. I ordered a strip. I prefer a ribeye (not on the menu?). I was a bit surprised that they didn't have a filet or a ribeye as an option. With that said, the strip was very tender and cooked med-rare just the way I like it. The flavor was very good. I had a twice baked potato. Again it was excellent. Their bread and salad were on point. All and all it was a great dinner. Highly recommend giving this place a try. read more

What an amazing little place. Right over the Little Sugar River. Everyone was very friendly. We had reservations and were seated right on time. We started with the fried green beans and they were wonderful. They have a horseradish sauce that comes with them and it was very yummy and not crazy spicy. I had the Haven 55 chicken. It was wonderful, it was cooked perfect and had a mushroom sauce that was very good. I got the angel hair pasta and squash with it and they were done perfect and very yummy. My brother got the New York strip with the Blue Cheese sauce and gave me a bite, it was AMAZING!!! I am not really a steak eater but I was kind of wishing I had ordered that instead!!! Great restaurant close to Bella Vista that doesn't seem to get the support it deserves. Great food and service with a very beautiful view of a flowing river. Have eaten there for the last year or so since we moved to Bella Vista and have never had anything other than a wonderful meal. Wednesday is prime rib night and if you like mussels they make the best ones we have had since we were in Amsterdam. If you are from Bella Vista this is the best restaurant in the area. If you live in Bentonville or Rogers it is well worth your time to make the drive up and try it out. You won't be disappointed. read more

Love the atmosphere and the scenery! Been here for both lunch and dinner. The lunch menu has a great club sandwich, great cheeseburgers, homemade potato chips and fries. The dinner menu is a little pricey, but the food is so good! If you go for dinner, you definitely want to make reservations because they fill up quickly. Very pleasant dining experience. It was a chilly fall day so no one was out on the river. A bald eagle soared by and was a thrilling part of the experience. My husband liked his strip steak but said he would order without the blue cheese sauce next time. French fries are great. Very very good. My haven55 chicken didn't thrill me at all. Two bland fat chicken breasts. I could not tell they were even lightly breaded. I won't order that again. The fried green beans were very tasty. The water they serve has a slight sulfur smell and taste which is pretty common for that area but was not easy for me to drink. Very best of all was the bouchon fudge cake and ice cream. I hope I spelled that dessert correctly. One of the best desserts I've ever had and it's served with a scoop of ice cream. Our waitress was wonderful and always had a smile. OUR DINNER WAS FREE!! We wanted to get out of the house and drove north to Missouri, driving through country roads and accidentally came across this charming restaurant in the middle of nearly nowhere. "Casual Fine Dining" aptly describes this newfound treasure. We were surprised they were busy and took reservations, glad they accommodated our impromptu visit. The view of the Elk River was a bonus and the white wine spritzer with fresh fruit was absolutely refreshing. My husband enjoyed the Chicken Franco and I loved my Creamy Shrimp Pesto. If you order the pommes frites (excellent French fries) they're piled high on the plate. Dinner was topped off by their wonderful dessert, Chocolate Bouchon and Creme Brulee. It was the best dinner we've had this spring. And just when we thought our evening couldn't have been better by discovering this gem of a restaurant, our server told us that Tuesday was Customer Appreciation Day, and our table won--our meal was completely free! Even if we had to pay, the inspiring view, exquisite meal, delicious dessert, and wonderful service makes Haven 55 a must if you're into a lovely dining experience. read more

A little background for those wanting to know the history of this highly touted little restaurant Havenhurst Mill, located on Little Sugar Creek, one mile from Pineville, MO, was built in 1868 and remained in operation until it burned in 1962. It was run for a while as the BYOB restaurant known as "Shrimpmans". Haven 55 Restaurant opened in June 2012 and is located on the site of the old mill. The dining room overlooks the dam on Little Sugar Creek. Alan Bone (an Orlando Culinary Academy graduated Chef) co-owns Haven 55 and Tavern with his brother, Brian. Their parents, aunt, and cousin also play significant roles in the operation of the business, from managing the books to serving tables to being the sous chef. Some friends invited us to dinner who had previously raved about the food, in particular, the Salmon. Haven 55's reputation for it's homemade and quality dishes proceeds itself, as other reviews will attest. This evening was no exception, appetizers of spicy grilled shrimp and signature deep fried beans with a horseradish dipping sauce started us off with an ice cold BlueMoon & a couple of glasses of wine. The 8-oz. salmon fillet covered with a honey mustard glaze, wrapped in cedar paper grilled to perfection, for three, please. I wanted to try the Frutti di Mar, a 6-oz Cod filet sauteed with shrimp and mussels in a light red sauce was delicious. There was hardly room for dessert, but we ordered a Creme Brule & Chocolate lava-like cake with fresh cream with four spoons - just enough to take us over the top as we said good night and headed back to NWA. Just got back from Haven.. We have been there many times throughout the years and tonight was not good.. Way too much salt on everything..My twiced baked potato was so dry and super salty, I had to ask her for sour cream.. We ordered the crab cakes for an appetizer.. She brought two servings.Should have said something..we only ordered one.. Just a very unpleasant evening..Very busy ..noisy.we have given them a lot of business. Didn't eat most of mine.. Not sure if I should post this because it was so delicious! We were fortunate to get a table by the window with a glorious view of the rapids and water reflections. It's not easy to find, but what a winner! My husband ordered the Huckleberry moonshine lemonade and I chose a very good glass of the house wine. We started with fried green beans. Incredible food, though the actual owner, upon arrival, treated us as an imposition. We were told point blank "it will be at least 30 minutes before we can take your order". We were not offered water or anything. Were it not for the graciousness and hospitality of her service staff, this would be the last time I came here. The owner needs a spanking and an attitude adjustment. Correction: The individual needing a spanking was NOT the owner, but the owner's mother (note to self: wait to review restaurant AFTER the evening is over). She proceeded to approach us before we were served our meal. She asked us about our complaint, and before my wife finished a sentence, the lady cut in blaming us for the problem. She was so unbelievably rude that I asked her to go away. When the actual owner came to speak with us, she proceeded to go to every other table and tell the other patrons how rude WE were (for merely sharing our experience). After the incredible meal, we went to the adjoining tavern to hear the band (they were the reason we came in the first place). Unbeknownst to us, she was at the bar and as my wife entered, she was met with "there she is now" as the group looked at my wife. As the evening went on, I observed this lady going to each and every local (I assume) and recounted HER version of the altercation as we watched each person she spoke to look across the room at us!!!!! In my 54 years of life, I have never even remotely experienced such a horrific act of unprofessional and indignant behavior!!!! We are on a Girls' Weekend and had a friend recommend Haven 55 for dinner. There were 12 of us and we ALL thought dinner was AWESOME! We ordered several different items off the menu. I tasted the Crab Cakes. They were very light-tasting, even though they were fried. The remoulade was a great complement. I chose the Chicken Franco. The chicken was so tender, it almost melted in my mouth. I loved the vertical presentation of the Twice-Baked Potatoes. They were so creamy, but crunchy on top. A friend and I shared a Chocolate Bouchard Dessert. It was like eating baked fudge with just the right amount of ice cream. We were told we would have about an hour wait, because of our large group. What a surprise. My partner and I visited here on Sat. July 14, 2018. From the outside you would never guess you were in for a delightful experience. We only had appetizers as they all looked good and we weren't that hungry - or so we thought. The fried beans were great, the shrimp cocktail excellent and crab cakes perfect. We also had the creme brule' and chocolate. Both delicious and the prices were right or less than expected. The only down side for me was the glass of wine. It was not equal to the food but I got the cheapest they had. So I can't say too much on that count. Besides the food, I really enjoyed the view above the river. The 100 plus year old damn, mill race and kids swimming were like something out of the distant past. The room is pretty sparse and decor not particularly fancy but I can get that anywhere. Where else can you look over a river where Tom Sawyer might be diving in? We live in Kansas City but we will definitely be back when we return next year. read more

I was lucky enough to discover Haven 55 last week, I enjoyed their delightful food so much that I ate there three times last week and have a reservation tonight! The menu is well designed and not crowded with options, this is great as many restaurants "bog" down your meal with too many concepts that are not executed well at the table. Haven 55 knows what they offer and believe me you can taste their commitment to perfection on every plate they serve. Reservations are key to enjoying your night, however if you do not have one check out Tavern 55 next door as you will find a tavern with great atmosphere and service that makes waiting 30 mins all the more enjoyable. Whether you are looking for land or ocean based fare, Haven 55 is my safe "Haven" from the other mundane restaurants that plague NWA. read more
