Burger had a patty that was so thin and so overcooked it was just shy of being a burnt hockey puck. Crispy chicken sandwich had nothing on it, just in a dry bun. Furthermore it was fried so long that it was like jerky. I was tempted to go back and get my money back for that one, but decided to just let it go. Philly was on the small side and the meat was extremely greasy and way way way overcooked. Horrible food. I'm really pissed off that I spent over 30.00 here. The food here isn't bad. It has just been the hit or miss courtesy or friendliness of their service. A few of the girls , we'll say hello , and others will not say anything at all. Even if they make eye contact. The ambience is cute and casual but my real issue is with the cleanliness of the cook. So I occasionally stop in here to pick up food when going to visit my cousin in Gravette. All the kids love hamburgers and French fries and this place has it pretty good. But not too long ago I stopped in.Please turn order and sat down to weight while I watched the cook.Come from around the corner to pick up the trash to dump outside.Come back in no gloves and start taking the food off without ever washing hands. Now i'm not saying all the cooks did this, and i'm not saying it happens all the time. My first trip to Hiwassee store for a meal. It's been on my radar for a burger and maybe some music. Ordered a burger and fries to go. My order was ready when I arrived - the crew there is so friendly and nice and the burger and fries were very tasty - very juicy tender cooked burger. Fries looked and tasted like McDonald's. They have a lot of outdoor seating and it looks like a great patio for music during cooler weather. I will be taking my favorite date and dropping in again. read more

This poor place has gone downhill something terrible. Went to hear live music on a Saturday night a couple of months ago and there was what appeared to be a woman in a ragged t-shirt and very dirty jeans smoking just outside the front door, leaning on the side of the building. We tried to walk in the side door to avoid the cloud, but it was blocked off, so we went back. The person approached us and opened the door and said, "I'm the manager." Red flag? When we went inside, a woman ran up to us, screaming that she told us to stay behind the counter and of course she was screaming not at us but her children, who were somewhere between four and six years old and she had brought them to work and told them to lie on a blanket on the floor behind the counter. We sat down and waited 20 minutes for someone to come by and wait on us and finally someone came by and said she would be there in a moment and it was another 20 minutes before she came. I tried to order an iced tea, but she said that the kitchen had closed 10 minutes ago. She wanted me to order something alcoholic, but I declined and said I would just sit there. My friend ordered a beer and it was another 20 minutes before the beer came and then the woman came back 10 minutes later and slammed a bottled iced tea down in front of me and just stared at me. This was not a fun experience. We got up and left and as a final punch, they charged us $5 each as a cover charge on the way out. read more

I want to give a good review. I want to because I know businesses are struggling in the face of the international pandemic. But I can't give a good review in light of the fact that the ownership and/or staff is quite frankly, lying about their adherence to state mandated facemask. I was in the store for no more than three minutes this morning. In that short amount of time I observed six patrons, in a very confined space, without mask. Only two could legally be said to be in compliance because they were sitting at a booth eating. Employees, thank you, were wearing masks. The sign on the door is a pathetic attempt at sounding legal as their justification for not having the courage to require people in the store to wear a mask. read more

I've tried a few things here and have not been impressed. One time I got the fried chicken salad and it was good. The next time the ranch was terrible and the chicken was funny tasting. Swung into the Hiwasse Store today a carry out a quick dinner. I got the special--Chicken Fried Steak sandwich with fries. The fries are the skinny ones and tasted pretty ordinary. With the sandwich I was expecting the thin dry patty you get from Hardee's biscuit but bigger. This chicken fried steak party was big and overflowed the bun. The meat was tender and juicy with a good (but mild) breading. Really lived up to the other rave reviews. I look forward to trying the cheeseburger. read more

I am from Hiwasse and I have seen what to us has always been "the country store" completely transform! The new owners have really reinvented this space! They added a patio where there are live bands on the weekend where you can enjoy a nice beer and music. They also added a little dining area past the kitchen. The first time I came here after they opened the restaurant inside I got a to-go order for me and my grandpa and got two cheeseburgers and fries. The burgers were flavorful and delicious and they gave us a very generous portion of fries! We even had a whole serving left over after we were done eating! I raved about it so much my husband wanted to try it out and we went with our 3 year old. They have great options for kids as well. I recommend ordering out because of you dine in they give you the fries and burger in a basket and it wasn't near as many as we got in our to-go order. The quality of the food was still great. The service could use some work, but they looked like they were probably high school students so with a little training this place is really going to take off. The parking lot always seems to be full when we go by. I am over joyed that "the country store" is alive and well again! read more
