This is a pretty standard looking coffee shop with a good tea and coffee selection and also kombucha and nitro cold brew on tap. I ordered a standard small cappuccino ($3.75), which was a solid cappuccino. The prices here are pretty standard for a coffee shop in the area. I don't know that I would particularly go out of my way to come here for coffee, but it was a nice place to try nonetheless. read more

Coffee is okay, it could be better and it has been better. Actually great but it all depends on what mood the baristas are in. Stay away from the skinny girl with short hair. She'll get upset with you, if you ask her to remake a drink. And she'll throw change at you if you ask her to add an extra shot because you're not happy with your drink. I usually order a Carmel latte, this time I got nothing but milk and asked her to add a shot if she wasn't able to remake it, she rudely said only if you're paying for it? Of course I am. I paid for it and she threw the change at me. It's a great place to hangout and the coffee is usually great. But because of this experience I am never coming back. I love a place that has a neighborhood vibe partnered with a friendly, happy staff. To boot, the coffee is much cheaper than some national chains and I would say it is better! The inside is quaint, clean and cozy. Logistically, it may not be set to the best and most efficient, but somehow it makes it feel more homey. They also have a nice patio area out front. Parking is not an issue (used to be on occasion when all the surrounding businesses were open). Support local business! I recommend giving them a try if you have not, as you won't be disappointed. Hava Java will be my new forever study spot! I love that it is a no-nonsense spot with excellent coffee and a low-key vibe. The cafe au lait was delicious, and after studying for a while I was thankful that food (bagels, yogurt/ granola, etc) was also available! Don't expect any coffee shop pretense here. The baristas were very friendly and solicitous. Refills on the same visit are half price, or $.25 if you get a coffee, so it feels like they don't mind if you stick around for a while. There aren't a ton of tables, but there are plenty of outlets available and a nice patio in the front. Also, this place is spotless. When I arrived, the chairs were all cleaned off and pushed in, the tables were clean, and the floor was swept. The staff/ ownership obviously cares about making sure customers are comfortable. What a cute little coffee shop located in the middle of a shopping plaza. I had some time before my manicure appointment, so I trotted over here to get a cup of hot coffee. The coffee shop is really cute and the people working there were really nice and friendly. I had a mocha which was delicious and I decided to have one of the bagels. Both of these items were just as good as expected. By the way, this is one of the top in the area according to the advertisement in the restaurant. I would definitely go back here again, and they gave me a punch reward card. On the 10th order, you get a free cup of coffee. Free is always nice :-) Plenty of parking in the strip plaza and they have a nice outdoor patio, that they share with this gelato store next-door. read more

Hava Java definitely has to be one of my favorite coffee spots, ranking top on my list! I won't even lie to you, I use to be a TOTAL Starbucks hoe, but after I started coming here I have changed my ways because the quality here is really unbeatable. Some of my favorite options are their Iced Lavender Latte and Iced White Peppermint Mocha- I like to get both of these made with whole milk to have a thicker and creamier consistency. A lot of my coworkers enjoy their Frozen Hava- a frozen mocha beverage, which is basically liquid crack and will have you bouncing off of the walls. Some things I really love about Hava Java: A Plethora of Flavors: Next to the register, the barista keeps a list of all of the flavors they offer for tea, coffee, and Italian sodas. The one and only flavor they are missing (I think) is pistachio, but not a lot of people favor that in their coffee anyway. Outdoor Morning Brew: This is something that I personally thought was really cool and unique- every morning, one of the baristas brings out a mini espresso bar on wheels so they can serve guests outside, where there is also plenty of seating available. Outstanding Service: I have not encountered one barista that has been anything short of friendly and outstanding. When you walk into this business, the staff makes you feel like you are at home. They even take the time to personally get to know you; on my second visit here, the barista instantly recognized me and took the time to ask how work was going and what I had going on for the weekend. Refrigerated Drinks: Turns out that the friend that you brought along does not want tea OR coffee? Hava Java has a small refrigerator where they keep soft drinks (Coke/Sprite), energy drinks (sugar free and regular Red Bull), juices (orange, apple, sometimes others), water and coconut water. They also have a Bakery Display full of snacks- granola, yogurt parfaits, energy bars, bagels/bear claws/muffins and more. ALSO have gum and mints for sale at the register. Little did I know when I wrote my review in March 2019 that I'd be moving to our forever home WALKING DISTANCE from here! I often drove through our new neighborhood when leaving Hava Java to manifest our future and well friends, it worked! Now HJ in a 1 minute drive/15 minute walk + my real go-to escape to get work done, especially because they have loads of outdoor seating during this time. I am obsessed with their hazelnut oat milk latte (iced or hot, both fab!) and their locally made bagels and cream cheese (yes, I get one every time). Today I learned that they are now offering breakfast burritos made by my FAVORITE vendor at the farmer's market! YAAAAS. They went up a notch (if that was even possible) today! I absolutely love this place. They are local coffee house and you can tell by the vibes the moment you walk in. Their coffee is always tasty however my favorite thing from there is there is the vegan burritos. These burritos are so tasty and they come with the most delicious green salsa. I'll find myself buying these burritos in the morning for breakfast or right before they close for dinner! The staff is always friendly and I get a really small town feel which I always crave ever since moving to the city. They are always busy but are always able to help you. I coffee tour everywhere I go. No matter the city, state, or country, I will find you. VALET? In a grocery store open parking lot. EPIC FAIL. The service at the bar, phenomenal. The owner, TOTAL D BAG. Lattes soooooooooooo hot, the espresso asked for an ice water. Every table and seat is packed here. Old dudes with pony tails. Super expensive mid life crisis cars. Ladies with binders planning events. Insane. But the drinks are almost perfect. MAKE YOUR OWN CHAI...it is so freaking easy. This is what makes local coffee shops awesome. The pride is the do it yourself. Do not order chai, what the crackers are you starbucks? The owner...this guy is ridiculous. This coffee shop is not necessarily a letdown; it's just not anything particularly outstanding considering the (many) other options available in the Valley. If you're into gelato, you'll be pleased to learn that it's connected to The Gelato Spot, which is pretty good gelato. I like that you can grab a coffee here, then enjoy a gelato immediately next door. But the coffee itself is nothing to get excited about. And neither is the chai tea latte, unfortunately. I'm sure that I'd visit Hava Java more often if I lived closer, but I definitely wouldn't go out of my way to grab a coffee here again. Service was fast, which was nice; but again - nothing to write home about. There's a decent amount of seating, both inside and out, which I appreciate, as well as decent Wi-Fi, making Hava Java a good choice for those remote work days. Prices are about what you'd expect - neither expensive nor cheap. Pastries looked delicious except that they had flies crawling all over them, which turned me off immediately even if it couldn't be helped. :-/ All in all, just a very blah experience, unfortunately. I'd like to see a little more pride taken on the part of the staffing in providing quality drinks. I'd have loved the option to order a pour-over. I don't know whether I'll bother visiting again. Well, a disclaimer here..I am a biased reviewer. I worked at Hava from 5/99-12/02. It is everything I want in a coffee house. Quality coffee drinks made so you can taste the coffee. It is not over roasted like the chains. The munchies are passable. This has always been of secondary importance here. I mean...if you are a coffee drinker do you really care that the muffins are the cream of the crop? Probably not. Do not get me wrong there is nothing bad about the munchies it is just that it is always just better than average. That's A-O-K in my book though. The staff is usually top notch. Given the demands of a small staff, a high energy coffee house, demanding (in a good way) clientle, and the need for mad social skills there is a dichotomy of employees there. On one hand there are employees that are like myself..there for many years and on the other many who only last a week or two. Once an employee fits in they can be counted on to give you great personalized service and high quality coffee drinks. Honestly, if you are a seasoned coffee drinker you will prefer to hit this place on the Camelback Corridor rather than the chain places. Sure, you may have to wait a little bit longer, but that will give you more time to witness the denizens of Hava. There is a tight knit, and large, regular crowd who take time out of their days to spend time at hava. You'll see why they do and you'll start to make extra time for the daily visits in your routine. Not sure if it's pronounced Haaava Jaaaava with a long A or Have a Jav a with short American As. Regardless, it's a cool spot with great coffee, plenty of seating and from what I saw on a Monday afternoon, a large fan base of locals. I ordered a vanilla latte, which is a perfect litmus test for a new coffee joint. It was good. Very good, in fact. Not blow my mind great, but very solid. Plus a bunch of stars for good coffee, a friendly staff and lots of outdoor seating. The only thing it would be nice are more tables with outlets. Not sure why I tried again Update following owner comment: If the ratio is truly 50% then the chick at HJ just must hate me since I've never gotten anywhere near that. Were this a place that bothered with latte art, it would've been impossible since my drink on Saturday was seriously solid white. I appreciate the response but it's simply wrong in my multiple experiences. I forgot to add also that the WiFi didn't work (connected multiple times and attempted on phone and laptop) but gave up when nothing with would load in favor of The Gelato Spot's WiFi (that worked!). Suggestion to owner: when someone is established as a legitimate yelp reviewer and they have a legitimate complaint, you should apologize and explain how you AIM to be, not subtly call the reviewer a liar. To give you a sense of how good it is-my best friend and I have been going here for nine years now. We've introduced it to people who have moved states and called to say, "I can't find a white chocolate latte as good as that one anywhere!" The staff is absolutely amazing. Every morning I am greeted by the sweetest two people. Meghan is the barista I believe. She's a sweetheart. For the life of me I can't remember the guy's name but he makes a delicious latte and has memorized my drink. Season is the girl with the long dark hair. When I heard they had recently undated their interior I thought I would drive over and check it out. Upon entering, it was caffeinetastic to see the place packed. Each table was filled with someone typing away on their electronic device or chatting away. I loved the sense of coziness- like you could sit there all day if you should choose. Being summer, I decided to order an iced coffee and it was delish! Just the right amount of flavor and just what I needed! I also loved the new bar area. Modernized yet still matching the existing decor. I also like how clean everything felt. That's important for me anywhere I go. I think Hava Java has been around a long time. Good options and service. Internet doesn't work. Have you tried checking if you have the newest router? Has the internet company come out to check if it works? Based on reviews it seems internet used to work great years ago but filtering for WiFi in your review results shows more recently there are WiFi issues here. I should've gone to Starbucks even though I like to support local businesses while I work remotely to ensure i didn't have any issues working. Yet another "perk" of living in this area is this awesome coffee house. It's always a challenge finding nice beans but not here..
