Ricerwalk Cafe

Fall color tours are a must in SW Michigan as we all say farewell to Summer and her right fair greenery. We drove to Hastings, Mi via Chief Noonday road and our Fall color cravings were satisfied. When we rolled into town we chose the Riverwalk Cafe for a quick lunch near the Titabawase (sp?) River. The cafe is a modest and attractive blue diner that seems to attract blue collar folks which is a good sign of solid food comfort. My SO chose the Classic burger while I chanced the cafe's Rueben. Our friendly waitress promptly took our order and we turned our gaze beyond a wide window to the color riot surrounding us. Our sandwiches were good. Hamburger was well done and could have benefitted from some medium-rare juiciness. My Rueben contained chunky corned beef that was claimed to be house smoked. The lightly applied smoke did not conceal the great taste of brisket! Our generous portions of house made chips were tasty and mindfull of a togo box. We took a moment to cross the street to gaze at the passing waters and take our ease for a moment then moved on to the next adventure! SWEET!

Meat lover's omelette

Came on a Saturday morning, did not have to wait much longer than 15 minutes and got our food right away .The food was very good. I got a meat lover's omelette. The homemade strawberry jam was great! Service was great too. My only disappointment was that the coffee tasted like an ash tray, it was hard to drink.

Your pick four : French toast, biscuit w/gravy, bacon, hash browns and addition of Texas toast w homemade strawberry jam. Yum!

Over all great food and outstanding service for a small town restaurant that it's only open for breakfast and lunch.

There is no river view from the cafe but the food was delicious. I had the buffalo omelette and enjoyed it.

Ordered the chicken sandwich, all very, very heavy breading. Picked most of it off in order to eat it. Will not be back for sure.

I really wanted to LOVE this place. It is a locally owned breakfast spot owned by a Costa Rican…read morefamily which had me from the start. I was excited to try their breakfast dishes because I was looking forward to some Costa Rican style dishes and was excited to see what their flavors were all about especially in this small little town. I ordered the tico sunrise bowl with an extra egg and avocado. When I got the bowl it looked very appealing. When I cut into the egg unfortunately it was a little overcooked so the yolk wasn't as runny as I would have liked. The dish overall was pretty bland and packed some flavor. Even with the chipotle cream which I was excited about the flavor just wasn't there. It tasted a little more like sour cream than chipotle to me. I did add some salt and Pepper to the dish which helped a bit. We ordered some of there homemade salsas hoping it would help but those too tasted very bland and packed any salt or seasonings. Maybe I was just hoping for some food with flavor but that's not their style of cooking? I did order their cafe Miel latte which was very delicious. I very much enjoyed sitting in the cute little cafe and drinking my coffee. I still give it at least 4 stars because it did have a nice little vibe inside and the staff was friendly and service was quick.
