I'd never been to Red Geranium Cafe until recently but we had a coupon for a free skillet, so Nate and I decided to make the drive down and try it out. The space is bright and airy and there was plenty of open seating. The menu is pretty similar to Grand Coney, which is part of the same restaurant group and our go-to greasy diner spot. Nate ordered the West Coast benedict: turkey, avocado, tomato, poached eggs, hollandaise, english muffin, potatoes and I got the supreme skillet. Our food came out quickly and it was tasty. I had some of Nate's benedict which was cooked well with nicely poached eggs - the hollandaise was a bit more lemony than I prefer. The skillet was a large portion and I love that they ask if you want it with hashbrowns or american fries. Our server was really friendly and polite, and I enjoyed this breakfast. I wouldn't necessarily come back anytime soon but that's just because it's a bit far from our house. If I lived in the area this would be my go-to diner. read more

So we came in just after 10 on a Sunday. The restaurant was busy, with only a few people waiting. The counter was empty. In an attempt to help things along, I inquired as to just sitting at the counter. I'm not sure if she was overwhelmed, excited or angry, but the response I got felt like screaming for me to wait for the counter to be cleaned. I'm sorry, I just showed up and was trying to help. I'm not sure screaming at me was the right response from the hostess with glasses. We sat and got coffee and water quickly and the bald gentleman was attentive. We ordered from him within 5 minutes. The wait for food was 45 minutes. My wife ordered a scramble which they forgot. I won't be back and can't recommend. The line ended up being long because no one was getting food. Stopped by here during lunch time on a Friday. We were able to sit down right away, no waiting, which was perfect. The server took our drink orders right away and we were ready to order by the time she came back. I had to pig pile skillet but asked to replace the tater tots with hash browns which they were able to do for me! It tasted amazing! I love breakfast skillets and with the sausage gravy on this one, it was basically my ideal breakfast item. It was served with 4 pieces of toast and I was able to take half my skillet and 2 pieces of toast for leftovers. The person I was with got the sausage gravy omelette and it was huge! He had leftovers as well. Good breakfast food & good prices. Only downside is they have Pepsi products instead of coke products. I will definitely be back anyways! read more

I've never felt so unwelcome at a restaurant. The hostess is your first impression and made us wait even though there were multiple open tables and nobody in line. It seemed as if she was looking for a waitress willing to serve us. She took us to a booth and dropped the menus and didn't say a word. When we asked if we could move to a more private booth she rolled her eyes at us. We ended up leaving and going to Monelli's. I arrived and went the hostess and asked can I just sit at the bar, there was one person at the bar, she said she could not seat me as there are parties in front of me. Planned a breakfast day out with the wife on Presidents' Day. Got in quick and easy around 8:30 but definitely by 9 am the place had filled up. Our server was great and super speedy, she was definitely hustling so props to her. Our food came quick too. I got the Ranchero skillet and it was pretty tasty. The avocado, melted cheese and chicken probably gave it the best flavor, the only suggestion I would have is offering a different/ fresh salsa to kick it up a notch. The sausage and gravy was super tasty as well with the biscuits being so soft! I also got the sugar bread side after seeing another photo post and it was super delicious; basically like a cinnamon bread roll- highly recommend. The wait staff tried but the manager was awful. Food ordered with no onions came with extra onions, hash browns were overcooked. Added a take out bagel to our order and it was taking forever. When we asked someone about it, the manager snapped at the servers and told them to "walk away." She was the one doing the bread. They were afraid of the manager and clearly frustrated. Had the Greek Omelette and it was very good and pretty big, service was great. They did a nice job even though I heard mention they were short staffed. The English Muffin bread was ok might choose one of their other many options next time. But nice to have choices, my wife's raisin bread was better.
