I went to the nook recently and it was pretty good. The food was very good but both times I have gotten them the pancakes were slightly burnt. The service was amazing, the waiter was very sweet and polite. It was a satisfying way to start a Saturday morning. I love the way this restaurant looks. It has tiny nicknacks everywhere. It has a super cool 1950s-1980s look to it. I would definitely recommend going sometime soon. read more

I found "The Nook" via online reviews. I was looking for a place to eat in Middleville because I have never been and had a home that I was going to look at. Me and my mother and my 2 year old grandson arrived and took a seat. It was a small restaurant with only about 5 or 6 different tables. Sat down and looked at the menu. I heard that they have excellent eggs benedict so me and my mother decided to try that. I asked about a kids menu. They do not have one (1st issue). The waitress informed us that they do not have one but that they would "make it work with whatever he wants". Ok, so we order him a pancake, some potatoes, an egg and some milk. Then the bill came. 2 adults, 1 two year old child. $40.99!!!! I didn't even get a drink. My mother had coffee. Unbelievable. Make it work??? A two year old....his meal ended up costing almost $12.00. For a pancake, potatoes, an egg and a milk. Never in my life have I ever heard of such a thing!! And the food was mediocre. Middleville's not so secret The Nook...specializing in breakfast and lunch, but the breakfast and lunches can be had anytime they are open. Never been disappointed here, and that is saying a lot. Even the best of restaurants can have a bad day, but not here. The place is small, but the helpings are not. The menu has not one bad item on it. It's easy to pick a favorite and miss out on the other gems on the menu. The help are friendly and if you are stumped as to what to order, just ask, or look at the board to see the daily specials. The Nook is the true gem of Middleville. This cute, retro breakfast/brunch/lunch place features delicious breakfasts ranging from French toast to several variations of eggs Benedict and omelets. Everything (and I mean everything) is fantastic. I tend to be picky regarding hollandaise sauce and perfectly poached eggs-- The Nook's Benedicts do not disappoint. There's always a variety of delicious fresh baked goods and prices are unbelievably cheap. The owner, Denise, is very sweet and always ensures that I have a full cup of coffee. Lunch is equally wonderful. I'm not really a sandwich person, but I absolutely love the Cali Rueben. It's also worth noting that they have several types of bread. If you're in the area, stop in. Seriously one of the best breakfasts I have ever had. The Crab Cake Benny is phenomenal, highly recommend. Can't miss with either the American fries or hasbrowns, perfectly golden every time. Between the Chorizo skillet, Sweet Potato Skillet, Crap and Avocado eggs Benedict, or Strawberries and Cream waffles, we could not decide on which was the best. They were all so good. We were looking for a fun, delicious, and unique breakfast date while on vacation. This fit the bill on all of those accounts! Denise (the proprietor) served us and was fantastic. We enjoyed the outdoor seating in quaint downtown Middleville. My wife ordered a croissant breakfast sandwich with hashbrowns and I had the half order of biscuits and gravy with a side of eggs. Admittedly, I'm a biscuits and gravy snob. When I occasionally work up the courage to order at a restaurant, I'm continually disappointed as they don't taste homemade. Denise's biscuits and gravy did not disappoint--homemade, thick gravy full of sausage. Yum! Overall: the food, coffee, space, and service were great. We wish Denise the best! This is a wonderfully cozy little place to eat breakfast or lunch. And while it will likely have your breakfast / lunchtime favorites, it will also offer something a little more unique. I had their Piglet Skillet for breakfast this morning and all the flavors of it were just right - from the specially made sweet bacon to the homemade whole wheat toast. The owner is just terrific (she provided much of the excellent service I received) and the other staff are great as well. From the outside and walking in the door it looks like a little diner but it is so much more than that. read more

I had the Newport Omelette (Crab cake with hollandaise). It was delicious! Maybe the best omelette I've had. The atmosphere was great and the service was friendly. My only criticism that I have is the lack of sweeter menu items. There wasn't even pancakes on the menu. I tend to gravitate toward savory breakfast, so I was very pleased with my omelette. My wife usually likes the sweeter things so it would be nice to have more options there. read more
