It is one of the best Diners I have been to in Michigan. Good food, friendly staff. And now we are regulars.

My waitress was very hard working but spread too thin... My vegetables were still cold from the freezer, but no big deal, I asked they be warmed in the microwave. She took them but did not bring them back, I tried to get wait staff attention with no luck. Again, only one person on the floor and it was busy. When finished I went to counter to pay and said they never brought back part of my meal. No adjusted price, nothing was offered... Still not a huge deal, they were not management and perhaps had little leeway in doing so? Ironically I'm parked by the kitchen entrance, the owner/chef, Phil was just arriving and I waved him over. Still only disappointed, "not angry or rude by any means" I chat him up. I explain missing part of my meal and Phil literally takes a hostile, could care less attitude. I said, I'm a business owner and when I fall short I at least try to make amends. I said, all you had to do was say, I'm sorry about that, I'll take good care of you next time. And whether he ever did or not, isn't really the point. It's about "caring" that his customer was well served in a business with his name on the door. In response Phil literally says and I quote, "This town is full of white privileged people and you're expecting too much!" Hmmm... really? Well I didn't expect to leave still hungry. Phil makes other derogatory remarks and excuses while insulting his employees and repeats white privileged people two more times. Well Phil, you came off as a ridiculous ass when there was absolutely no reason to... I sincerely hope your day got better. The real problem doesn't seem to be your employees, it looks more like a top down issue. Next time, instead of being belligerent, just give a smile and ask what you might do better. I hate writing a poor review because everybody drops the ball now and then, but Phil was way out of line. If Phil has a mind to apologize this review can be amended. read more

There are very few times when a meal is so poor that I can't finish it, sadly, the meatloaf dinner was exactly that poor. It tasted as if the meatloaf was three days beyond trash time. I got the wrong potato side so had to wait for my mashed potatoes which ended up being flavorless with flavorless Brown gravy. The green bean, carrot, squash mixed vegetables were so watery and tasteless I couldn't eat them. The only thing edible was the salad and piece of garlic bread. But then, when I overpaid for the sad non-meal that I couldn't eat, I noticed large cinnamon rolls in the clear case that looked pretty tasty. How can you go wrong on a cinnamon roll when it rose? Well, the maple frosting which is not my favorite frosting combo with heavy cinnamon to begin with was runny and gritty. They must have rushed making it and either put granulated sugar or sand in it. Any hope I had of ending the dining disaster on a decent note vanished. Every aspect of this eating there was a fiasco. I won't ever go there again. read more

We go to Phil's Galley at least once a week, sometimes twice for either breakfast or dinner. We love the homemade soups. Phil has the best fried cod in town and don't forget the hush puppies! Try the hand sized homemade cinnamon rolls and ask to have them put on the grill. You will be hooked! Omelettes are excellent. Great food and very friendly service. read more
