We have some property in Burlingame and used Harry. ID d the problem. But a certain person dropped the ball and never addressed the issues. I had Harry's card and he came over promptly and said we had no further issues. What a Great Guy, What an honest Small Business owner that has been in the business a long time. I just referred my neighbor to Harry. read more

Harry is honest straightforward, and a great guy you couldn't ask for a more honest and upfront termite guy for inspections rework whatever it is the guy's fantastic read more

He is the best to have inspect your house. We are a painting company and he has saved a lot of my clients a lot of $ because they were told they needed unnecessary tent jobs by other companies. My understanding is that there are a lot of unscrupulous and unknowledgeable people in the the termite inspection business. Harry Hastie is the opposite. He is totally honest and very experienced and knowledgeable. Everyone we have recommended him to have been thrilled with his results. Can not recommend him highly enough, very rare guy in a great way! read more

I didn't actually use Harry because his schedule was booked (rightfully so) but he was extremely helpful even though he knew he wasn't going to make any money off me. So helpful that I wanted to find a way to give back - so here's my review: My first experience with inspection seemed like a complete money grab so I wanted a second opinion. Harry was nice enough to walk me through some of the companies to avoid and provided guidance on what to look out for when getting quotes. I'm extremely thankful for his integrity and hope this review brings him other just looking for an honest opinion. read more

Harry: "Yup, you've got termites" Me: "Ugh. Do we need to find another place to live for a few days?" Harry: "No. I don't tent. I drill small holes and add a chemical attractant that kills the termites. It will last at least a year." Me: "That's music to my ears." This was so painless. Thanks, Harry! read more

Friendly, efficient, seemed to know exactly what he was looking for and how to treat. Years of experience. Enjoyed meeting Harry and hope the termites are gone. read more

Harry is the best. Experience and competence...just what the world needs more of. We've used Hastie Pest a number of times over the past 20+ years and have never been disappointed. read more

Today was our third time working with Harry Hastie, and I cannot recommend him enough! We have used him in the past with a carpenter bee problem (which he was able to resolve) and now with a small termite problem. Every other company recommended we spend thousands to get the house tarped and fogged, whereas Harry was able to treat the issue locally for half the cost of what competitors wanted to charge. Other companies "identified" other termite damage but Harry took one look at those holes and knew they were man mind and from an old hard wired security alarm. Harry is reliable, honest and a pleasure to work with, and I can't recommend him enough!! Support local! read more

The BEST. Harry tells it like it is, doesn't upset you, guarantees his work, and is as good as his word. An honest man making an honest living. He's wonderful! read more

I wish there are more people in this world who are as honest and reliable as Harry. The reason I say that is because of the following: - easy to reach out to and responds asap - once you meet him personally, he is super easy to talk to, answer all of your questions patiently - gives you genuine suggestions. The previous termite inspector who inspected my home gave me an estimate which was 5 times as high as what Harry charged me! - he is highly experienced and super fun to talk to It was a pleasure working with Harry! read more

Hastie Termite Co. gets 5 stars from me too. I made my choice as a result of this Yelp site [everything said here is true] and "The Prime Buyer's Report" that lists Hastie Termite Co. among the top ten in San Mateo County.. http://www.primebuyersreport.org/ca/redwood-city-pest-control.html Not only did Harry solve our termite problem, but he gave us valuable advice about other household concerns we had... and he kept us fascinated with his tales of historical information about the Bay Area. We've been in this house 50 years and a lot of what he said took us down memory lane. I am confident that we had the best service possible and heartily recommend Hastie Termite Co. read more

Harry is Excellent! We recently noticed what looked like sawdust on our bedroom carpet. Harry confirms it was indeed termites, but he could treat it effectively and on the spot. The next week we saw what appeared to be a similar problem and got very concerned. This time Harry asked a few questions, looked at the fine sawdust like evidence and diagnosed with total confidence that this was Not termites! And No Charge! Knows his Stuff! And is Honest! And a very nice Guy! As others have said... Highly Recomnend Harry!!! read more

Great service. He got right back to me and quickly scheduled an appointment. We've used him in the past. He's experienced and honest and very thorough. read more

Harry is a real gem. He knows his bugs and is as honest as the day is long. We have called him multiple times for possible termites. He has ALWAYS come through for us. He has never over sold us. And not only does he know termites, he know buildings. He told us what kind of wood flooring we have, when two other flooring guys couldn't. He is very open with his knowledge and expertise. The only problem is that he is set to retire soon and we doin't know what to do! Call Harry now If you think you might have an issue. He will diagnose and give you a good solution. read more

My property manager sent Harry to my apartment. He was so kind! Friendly, efficient, and effective. Highly recommend. Thank you Harry!!!

I found Harry through yelp and he came and inspected my apartment building. He recommended a localized treatment which I was very happy with. He was able to do the service work at the same time as the inspection. He seemed very knowledgeable and customer friendly. I would highly recommend working with him read more

Harry is a very punctual and knowledgeable man who can give plenty of valuable advice about your house. He's very friendly and love to shares his wisdom. Above all, we cherish his honesty and integrity. He saved us thousands of dollars when other companies would try to rob us by charging us for nonessential termite work. We were very impressed with his thorough inspection and his willingness to go above and beyond what the job called for. Thank you, Yelpers, for helping me find this awesome person. I would recommend him to anyone who needs termite work. If you need a second opinion on your termite inspection report, go to Harry. He's a guy who truly loves his work. read more

All I can say is wow. After being told by another company my house needed to be tented at a cost of several grand, and 4 days of major inconvenience, I had Hastie Termine Company come out to do an inspection to get a second opinion. I sure am glad I did. Turns out I just have swarming flying ants, not termites, and my house does not need to be tented! The owner, Harry, is very nice and will give you the honest scoop. If you want a reliable and honest termite company I highly recommend Hastie Termite. read more

Harry is the BEST! Not only does he know about termites but he also knows about general house stuff and maintenance. He came once and found termites, treated the area and we have been good ever since. He came again and found it wasn't termites, but rot. No push for a big sale! He is a good guy and does business on the up and up! I would not hesitate for a second to recommend his services! read more

I agree completely with the other people who give Harry Hastie 5 stars. He's really very knowledgeable, very effective, and as nice a guy as they come. And since he has pets of his own, he's a big fan of using pet-safe products when an effective one exists for the problem. He used orange oil for my termite problem, he killed those bugs dead, and my cat and I were safe at home during application of the bug poison. read more

Harry must be the most honest and helpful person in the termite control business! Referred to me by a friend, I called Harry in a crunch (i.e. what seemed to be a sudden infestation). He came out to my house right away; diagnosed the situation; gave me some recommendations; and didn't charge me a dime. Nothing. He just shared with me some wisdom from the industry and how to best address my problem, which ended up not being termites but another kind of bug that looks like termites. He referred me to a good pest control company, but definitely did not pressure me to use that one. Just made a recommendation. ... I am definitely keeping Harry in my contacts should I need a termite expert in the future or have any good friends with such a need. read more

This company is a total scam. He would not do an inspection and go under our property to see what termite damage we had, if any, he would only go under our property if we called his friend who has a pest control company to see if there were any rats. He then sent an invoice for $200.00 for an inspection report which he never did. He never went under the house nor did he do any inspection inside the house. When told we would not pay the $200 for his bogus report he threatened to call our city and report that we had rats which we do not have. Stay away from this company. read more

Thank you, Harry Hastie, for all your help! Although all contact has been by phone, your professional knowledge and hand-holding through this has been greatly appreciated. Wish you did work with the termicide Altriset- I would've gone with you. Best wishes to you! read more

Harry is an excellent termite inspector and has a wealth of knowledge and experience about issues related to home repairs and home inspection. He shows up early, does a thorough job, and will gladly help you on any issues that he is capable of addressing on the spot. He is a great guy to talk to and you won't be disappointed. Please don't lower your standards when choosing a termite inspector and go with the best. Harry is one of the finest in the business and he would go above and beyond what he is required to do. read more

Local, knowledgeable professional. Harry came over our house ON TIME. Quickly diagnosed our problem - which turned out to be very minor. Conducted a thorough examination of our home. Took the time to explain everything he was doing in simple terms. Very nice, very reasonable and most importantly - totally honest and trustworthy. We will certainly work with Harry again, and are comfortable enough not to bother calling around. Hire local, avoid the national chains that sell fear. read more

Spoke to the owner, Harry, today and was amazed and impressed by his counsel. I need a real estate termite inspection which Harry doesn't do (does do after the refinance inspections and work) and Harry provided me with amazing service anyway-gave me a referral to get the real estate termite inspection to a firm that provided an appt right away for Monday, despite the Thanksgiving holiday, and also explained the service he provides that is much less expensive (& presumably more effective) than the standard services provided by other firms. I am so impressed, just had to leave this review and encourage anyone who is interested in experience and great service to call Hastie Termite! What a breath of fresh air. Made my day. read more

I am so glad that I called Hastie Termite Co. We found 2 termites in our house, so we were worried. I called and described the situation. Based on what I told him about the type of termites found, he knew exactly where we lived...kind of creepy, but totally awesome! Based on what I described, he didn't think we needed any treatments. Super honest and helpful and exceedingly knowledgeable. If we do have a problem in the future, this is the first and only company we'll call. read more

One of the contractors told me that we might have termites, and so, based on other great reviews, I called Hastie Termite after we had no luck with some big name termite companies who gave me a generic plan that would cost a lot of money. Harry came out for an inspection. From the get go, I could tell that he's very experienced and knowledgeable. In addition, he was so upfront and honest. He told me that for our issue, putting termite baits would not do much, but that I needed to replace the fence that was the food source for the subterranean termites. I couldn't believe my ears. No trying to sell some unnecessary services. Just practical, honest advice based on years of experience. Seriously, if you have termite problems or questions, Harry is the person to call. read more

Asked for an inspection and quote, but ended up not needing any inspection nor any treatment. Harry explained that the area that I live in doesn't have a severe termite problem that he's aware of, and the termite site is on the fence outside the house, plus the house is not close to the site, and separated with stucco. After discovered that I'm a new home owner, Harry spent the next half hour explaining household stuff for me that's even more detailed than the house inspector that we used. Harry's help and advice is much appreciated. (Just want to note that Harry was 15 mins late, but I was not time pressured, and I can easily keep myself busy for 15 mins. I'm more worried about being ripped off..) read more

I used Harry for a client in the San Mateo area, he was great. Very personable, knowledgeable, and has a wealth or experience. I had used another local company before and they tried to sell my client $12,000 of unnecessary repairs. I would highly recommend Hastie Termite. read more

Knowledgable, honest and loads of experience - as good as it gets - I'll request Hastie time and time again
