Pit & Peel is a nice brunch spot with lots of filling, tasty options. I got the smoked salmon toast which comes on a large, thick piece of toast with lots of salmon and toppings. The other dish was the shakshuka which came with plenty of thick bread slices and lots of shakshuka (and two eggs inside). All of the bread seemed fresh and I wouldn't be surprised if they made this in-house. The latte and matcha were also well made and complemented the food nicely for brunch. The space is relatively small with limited seating especially during peak hours, but has a nice combination of indoor and outdoor seating. Parking is also a bit tricky with limited spots behind the building and not a lot of street parking options. read more

First off I want to say it smells really bad in there - very unappetizing. It looks very rundown on the outside and the inside isn't much different. The food was disappointing, and the service was even worse. I told the girl that took my order that I was going to be eating in my car because I'm in a big hurry to get somewhere so I cannot have runny eggs and she completely ignored that and they made me the runniest and messiest sandwich ever. Even if I was eating in the restaurant, I wouldn't want to eat the sandwich they gave me because of how runny it was.. between the sauce they put on it and the yolk, I literally had a pool of liquid in the bottom of my box - the bread was soggy and disgusting . They would not issue me a refund even though I left the sandwich there and told them I can't eat it - not to mention they didn't even offer to remake it to be less runny - not that I would want to eat their food anyways after that experience. I should've known it was going to be a bad experience from the moment I walked in there and smelled that stench. Highly don't recommend going there and I will never be going again. read more

Stopped in for a weekday lunch and completely fell in love! Passing by outside I have completed underestimated this place, but now that I've tried it I can't wait to go back and try it all. Heads up that the smoked salmon is an unusual color due to a Japanese marinade (it's delicious and not spoiled as some other reviews have insinuated). The hollandaise was perfect (I could eat it on everything, in fact I did!) and the toast was the perfect combo of soft but not soggy and toasted without being stabby. You are able to watch them make your breakfast if you wish through the open window pane with seating near the counter which is pretty cool. While the flavor is great, this place is NOT a value option. I walked out with the total & tip making me short $18+ for the single plate of toast. I was well aware of how it would affect my wallet before coming in, however, it just feels like, for the price, there should be more included. The counter-service aspect was surprising but understandable. It just felt odd to pay that much and have to fetch my own water and utensils, after tipping up front when ordering. Everything tasted OK, but the $17 BLT sandwich with avocado and egg ( T.A.B.L.E. Sando) was a letdown. It had a sad, unripe slice of tomato straight from the end of the veggie and a sad, tiny, mushy piece of avocado - paired with bacon and a fried egg, with bread that was the saving grace of this sandwich. The ingredients were just kinda sad for a $17 sandwich. It had a sad pile of stale salad mix next to it - not sure if it was to eat or just a bad garnish. Tomato toast was good-ish to good. But it also had some sad looking avocado slices on it, although much more than the 2 sad slivers on the sando. Service was OK, but no one was cleaning off tables so the place was messy for there being just a few customers. I really wanted to like this place. Avocado everything? What a great concept! Unfortunately, the service and the food did not meet expectations. While standing in line to order, my mouth began to water as I watched the beautifully presented plates get prepared. We ordered the shakshuka, a brunch favorite, and the smoked salmon toast and were so excited to try our picks. We ended up waiting an hour and a half to receive our food. There was no warning given about the excessive wait time upon ordering - perhaps we would have opted to go elsewhere since we were quite hungry, or perhaps we would have seen about adding an appetizer to tide us over. The wait itself was not very enjoyable, as the space is aesthetically pleasing but extremely noisy (and the loud music did not help matters), so it was difficult to hear in conversation. Once the food arrived, it was presented nicely but overall lacked any standout flavor, and the smoked salmon did not taste very fresh and was quite fatty. The highlight was the bread that came with the shakshuka. Overall, even though the menu sounds so inventive and the presentation is very nice, this spot is not for me. read more

I will cut to the chase and list its strengths: (1) delicious fresh creative brunch items; (2) opens early (9 am) unlike most other brunch spots; (3) delicious breakfast cocktails (bellini is actually listed on the menu plus other fun cocktails); (4) plenty of outdoor seating; (5) friendly and conscientious staff. I had the egg toast- delicious! Perfect umami flavors- has truffle and Parmesan on it which elevated the dish considerably. My companion had the mushroom toast- I thought it was good but I think a little bit of truffle might be a good addition for that (but that could just be me, I'm a truffle freak). Croque madame with the brioche is incredible . Egg was perfectly runny. Side salad was a little sad honestly but dressing had a nice subtle flavor. We went exactly when they opened on a Saturday and around 9:40am people started trickling in. Great little laidback spot. We had a coffee with French crème and peach Bellini and had to return it because coffee was watered down and Bellini was tasting cheap and little bitter aftertaste than we're used to when we order them.
