**INITIAL REVIEW** I continue to be surprised by all the unique businesses I find flourishing in Historic Downtown Melbourne a.k.a. Melbourne Main Street. This statement is especially true for said businesses west of the Heneger Center, the area that technically has "less" foot traffic. With that in mind, I heard about Harvest Thyme Kitchen (which I will shorthand simply to Harvest Thyme for the remainder of this review) because I have a vested interest in the tea shops in the historic area. Not saying I am a fan of tea parties per se, but I do utilize herbs and spices for herbal teas for holistic health optimization. Harvest Thyme technically isn't that kind of tea shop and actually stands on the iconic "afternoon tea party" experience when dining with them... even though they are not open in the afternoon. Even though, Harvest Thyme is definitely a place to enjoy a nice and relaxing time, sipping tea with friends, a contrast to the other tea shop experiences in Historic Downtown Melbourne. Though an address is provided, Harvest Thyme is located right next to Genesis Boutique consignment shop and right across the street from the iconic Sun Shoppe Cafe. Harvest Thyme probably started out as a traditional home in Melbourne that survived the test of time, but has been somewhat fitted to be a tea house. First and foremost, the experience within the tea house is quite intimate with only a few small intimate tables and a longer table in the room that would have been either the family room or living room, is spread. Majority of seating is outside along the lawn and the overhang garage area turned tea room fancy. During a nice Autumn season, it is quite nice to enjoy tea and crumpets outdoors. Wouldn't suggest it during summertime especially when the lovebugs are out. Selection of food and drink is simple yet delicious. There is both breakfast and lunch (brunch) options ranging from traditional meals to more modern takes such as power bowls. For me, there are two dishes, one for breakfast and one for lunch, that stand out in flavor: the biscuits with flight of gravies and the ham, cheese, and apple melt. The former is two to three biscuits with three small bowls of gravy of your choice from the following four: mushroom chardonnay, bacon, sausage, and chicken herb. My suggestion: sausage, mushroom chardonnay, and herb chicken. The latter is ham and gruyere/cheddar cheese grilled on Hawaiian Sweet bread and finished with grannie smith apple slices. Those are my two, but there are other delicious options on the menu like lemon poppy pound cake French toast, and Grandma G's pot roast dip (think of French Dip but the Harvest Thyme style). Finally, Harvest Thyme does bake delicious baked goods to take home. Cookies, cinnamon rolls, pound cakes, etc. I took a cinnamon roll home and it was good for what I got. Ultimately, I would eat here again if I am in the area and want to try more of Harvest Thyme's menu. It should also be known that Harvest Thyme is a God-fearing business in which you can tell God is put first with the number of scripture used as decor and the Biblical gifts for sale. For now, I will give Harvest Thyme four out of five stars for their initial review. I will check them out a couple more times and if they are consistent, I will give them their fifth star. read more

LOVE THIS PLACE! I was there for a tea, breakfast with a friend, and a brunch tea with a friend. In all cases, the food was fresh and tasty. The staff is so helpful-especially when trying to decide amongst all the choices. I LOVE the scones (always get some to go) and LOVE the cherry jam. Every time I run into a discombobulated unstructured restaurant environment I am tempted to rate on the front of house incompetence. Sadly, it would appear that all of the best places have front-of-house problems. Including, but not limited to, Bern's Steakhouse, the Big Boy all World #1 eatery. Back to the food. I'm still not sure who or even if we had an official server. The lady that started to take our order disappeared. Then a few moments later a new lady showed up to take our order. Neither of these two could answer any questions. Our food was brought by a third lady and the fourth lady was the owner (I asked all four). Despite the ever-changing waitron, I managed to place an order for one Biscuit and Gravy Breakfast with eggs over medium and a side of country ham, along with an order of the Lemon Pound Cake French Toast because yummy. Someone here sure knows how to cook. One could even say they went all supererogation especially when compared to the seemingly lack of effort represented in the chaos that is the front of the house. I was never able to determine the name of the cook. Well done, Anonymous Culinarian! None of the service matters unless you are a crybaby about things like that. I am here for the food. Period. So, live with the service storm because this food is freakin' awesome. The sole reason this wasn't a 5-star review was the spuds. If you are already blowing up your food costs, spend the extra $5.00 on the pre-cut high-end taters. The Biscuits and Gravy were outstanding. Both were obviously made in-house with nothing but love. This is one of the best biscuits I've had. It was flaky, firm, springy, and tasty--the way Granny intended biscuits to be. The gravy was fresh and seasoned correctly. The eggs were cooked correctly, and the potatoes were, as mentioned, not worth mentioning. I found the Lemon Pound Cake French Toast to be exceptional. The bread was perfectly battered, grilled and presented. The double handful of fresh blueberries were farm fresh, the cream freshly whipped and I am fairly certain that was real maple syrup. All in all this was a superbly made meal and pleased my palate a great deal. The Big Boy says, " Try this place. I strongly recommend it. I recently went to one of their high teas for Mother's Day. All of the food was delicious with the three tiers: savories, scones and cream, and desserts. The savories included a soup and quiche as well as sandwiches. A lot of teas don't include hot food. They also do a regular tea that has different food options. Harvest Thyme in downtown Melbourne is a place I would not recommend. The restaurant-bungalow looked so cute from the outside but the food and experience were meh. You order at the counter and get your own water in a plastic cup (and the food is served on a square paper plate), but they still would like you to tip them. My turkey sandwich was on half-toasted sour dough bread and included a tiny portion of turkey and cheddar with bits of cranberry. On the side were a couple pieces of lettuce and tomatoes and few thin slices of unripe fruit -- all for $16. One friend ordered the biscuits and three kinds of gravy. Mediocre biscuits. Nothing like the fabulous house-made biscuits of Oh Biscuit's former owners (haven't tried it since Christine and Larry sold it). My friend liked the sausage gravy but was less keen on the mushroom gravy. Though it wasn't busy, it took 15 minutes for my sad little sandwich to appear. The only dessert available was a single cinnamon roll. Based on previous reviews and photos, the food must've been better in months passed. Maybe the staff is tired or burned out.
