Visited the other day with my husband. Greeted by a friendly staff. Ordered at the counter and grabbed drinks and a seat. My husband enjoyed The Steak and Cheese with seasoned fries and I had the Cubano special with curly fries. All the food came out fresh and hot. The sandwiches were made on fresh baked bread. Portions were large. The root beer was good. The place was clean with plenty of parking. Lots of cool musical decor on the walls. We will be back to try the pizza and wings. Doghouse Pizza in Melbourne exudes mediocrity, from the Chef Boyardee flat pizza dough rolled with a dough puncher to the gyro topped with low-quality ingredients. This place is just blah, but I get ahead of myself. My server today was Sonya. Sonya, albeit a loyal henchperson she may be, is the one bright spot in this den of dismal delights. She was pleasant, friendly, knowledgeable, and spot-on for the entire meal. I asked Sonya for one of their Walter White Pizzas and a Gyro. As soon as Sonya brought my order out, I snapped a few pics and eagerly dug in. The smells were intoxicating. First up on the Big Boy's ever-discerning palate was the Walter White Pizza. Named after one of the most iconic television characters ever and one scene that will live on in meme infamy for infinite, how could I not try it? Consisting of Italian sausage, pepperoni, ham, bacon and ricotta on top of a garlic butter base, it certainly read and smelled fantastic. Sadly, that is where the good times stopped rolling. I'm sure the dough was made on-site, it had the pizza roller holes in it at least, but it certainly hit the taste buds like so much tasteless cardboard. I take that back, cardboard has a bit more flavor to it. The toppings are below average for this pizza connoisseur. Moving on to the Gyro. When you see Gyro meat being properly shaved from the spit you think you are in for the real deal. Served with crisp, creamy tzatziki I really tried to like this. However, with the unvarying commitment to sub-par ingredients, the rest of the toppings were meh. What I really found amusing was the fake fountain drinks. With choices like Dr. Peepers and Bark's Root Beer, I couldn't help but think of McDowell's in Coming to America. That sucking sound you hear in the background must be Doghouse Pizza circling the drain. The Big Boy says, "Skip it. No big loss." I would be remiss if I failed to mention that my editor did call to verify the toppings on the pizza and said that whoever answered the phone was "Extremely polite and professional." read more

I've been a customer of Doghouse Pizza since Ben opened it up 6 years ago. Always an outstanding Chicago Style thin crust pizza. Ben sold the business to the owners of Burger Inn and Ceratos Italian Deli an I was concerned about how pizza quality would hold up to the transition. I've had 6-7 pizzas since being under new management and I'm pleased to report they have not only sustained the original quality, but exceeded it. It's a 25 mile RT drive from my home in Melbourne Beach so it's a time commitment to pickup a Doghouse pizza. I ordered from Doghouse twice this past week and ate 1/4 of the pizza on the drive back home to Melbourne Beach; same order both times - Large Sausage, Pepperoni, and Mushroom. Yesenia is my new All-Star Doghouse Pizza Cook. Both pizzas were the best I've ever had from Doghouse. Being from Chicago I'm pretty critical of any restaurant that claims to have Chicago thin/tavern style. Doghouse fills the bill and is the best I've had in Florida. Amazing food and even better service! The cheesesteak sub on their incredible bread took me right back to South Jersey. My coworker loved her hot ham and mozzarella sub. The hand-cut fries were crispy outside, soft inside, and perfectly seasoned. Even the red and white checkered paper added a nostalgic touch. Owner Mark truly cares about his customers. Back at my work I realized our fries were missing, called and he immediately apologized and personally delivered two fresh large orders to my office--talk about top-notch service! It is the best pizza in town! I don't get pizza anywhere else since I discovered them. The only downside is that sometimes they are so busy that they don't answer the phone for orders, and they close pretty early for a pizza restaurant, but I enjoy the pizza so much that I just work around it. If you like food that is photogenic and Instagram worthy and so tastes delicious Dog House Pizza is definitely the place for you. They have a long menu of different types of pizza with some very creative choices to select on this menu. the hardest part about placing my order here is decided what to order when I want to try them all. A lot of people rave about how good their wings are. Sadly, I did not try the wings. What I have tried so far is one pizza called The Homer which is really great another Pizza called the cardiac which was stacked on top of being stacked full of deliciousness. It was literally the heaviest pizza I've ever picked up and held in my hands. I also tried one of their burgers I think the full House Burger . It took me 2 days to eat the entire thing it was totally worth it and an amazing experience. Although I probably will not order that burger again it's definitely a great experience and everybody should try it. Now I first walked in I thought it was going to be a bad experience because they don't offer table service. once you decide what to order you have to walk up to the counter and place your order after which they'll bring it out to you. When you look at the fountain drink machine you'll see that they have all off-branded sodas expected to seem like it's going to be terrible but the food was just so good. The owner here is very nice guy and he gets excited when you order some of the larger crazier stuff on the menu. The restaurant is located in a business area. It's one of those odd places inside of area that looks like business commercial storage unit type of location. Luckily they're on the very outside invisible from the road. I think cater to the local businesses that surround them is why they provide such good service and food because they do see the same faces over and over again. And after I ate here they will be seeing my face as a repeat customer again. read more

I got the The Cousin Vinny pizza, ordered a large and it was a 18" which was awesome! I still have a couple of slices of pizza in my freezer! It was generous in toppings and had crusty bits of cheese which I picked at all the way home. Everything tasted delicious. My only, only bit of contention is the price, After tip, the pizza came to $37 which is probably the most I've ever paid for a extra large pizza. I don't even remember paying that in NYC. This was the best pizza I've had in the area but at that price point I'll probably only want to get it a few times a year. It's just hard to pay so much for a pizza (14" is almost $30). I'm going to rate based on pizza in Florida. That seems fair. It's 5-star. Love the crust/undercarriage (not to swipe a term from a pizza reviewer who I think is a phony). This pizza is damn good. The crust has a coal (in this case, probably wood) fired flavor. Seems like an old oven to me which are the best. Sausage is very Chicago-like (strong fennel taste) and sauce (sweet) are great. Best thinner crust I've had in Florida in memory. Will return!! read more
