With a very vast menu, a spotless establishment and one of the most charming decorated interiors; I knew I was in for a treat! The service was fantastic! These people are proud of what they offer and make and it shows with their warmth and explanation of how their cuisine is made. A delicious bone broth had a complexity of flavors, and a generous portion of tender filet, al dente rice noodles, perfectly cooked veggies and all the sauces you could want to add even more depth to the already rich flavor. The crab wontons were FILLED with meat and cream cheese, with a wrapper so thin and delicate it was almost like a cracker. Perhaps the best rangoons I've tried anywhere. While I've never made Banh Mi myself, I've had plenty of authentic versions from Southern Vietnamese home cooking. This one has definitely been "Americanized," missing key elements like mayo, pâté, pickled carrots, and green onions. That said, it was still a solid sandwich. The fried spring rolls were a highlight--better than any egg roll you'd find at a typical Chinese restaurant or takeout spot. They had a great crunch and flavor, but I was surprised they didn't serve them with nuoc cham. With all the Asian condiments they offer, adding nuoc cham would be a game-changer for locals unfamiliar with it. The reason for four stars instead of five? I cook Southeast Asian food myself, so it's tough to impress me. That said, I'll be back to try the pho--that's the true test. We ordered take out. The Pho is really good. They pack the ingredients separately so you can add as much or as little as want of each. Also keeps ingredients from getting mushy. We ordered a chicken fried rice and a combination fried rice. We did find a couple of small bones in the chicken in the chicken fried rice. I didn't find any bones in the combination fried rice. Bahn Mi may be old news in big cities nationwide but here it is becoming very popular. The first of these opened just a few years ago. In the last year several Banh MI shops have opened. Here they use a traditional French style baguette. I don't know if the baguette is made for them or they make it in house. Either way it is a very good quality. The sandwich itself is very tasty and generously packed with several ingredients. To be honest, I have had better in the area. The taro milk tea I ordered was way more milk than taro but some may prefer the creamier milk tea. I like mine screaming TARO!!!! The other thing that is disturbing is they don't take Amex, I know it's not a big deal for some of you but the card has the best rewards. That alone will have me going elsewhere. read more

Don't misunderstand me. I'm not saying this is a bad thing, just that it is a thing. The really cool part is experiencing all the new flavors inundating the Space Coast. This is why it was with vapid anticipation I headed OTB to sample the wares of Banh Mi Saigon Baguette in Melbourne (technically, Eau Gallie, but who am I to pay attention to zoning?). Upon entering, I was greeted by Mai. Mai is the owner who also works behind the counter. Ya gotta love the hands-on approach! There is a similarly named restaurant in Viera, which Mai quickly tells me is a chain and of no relation (I already knew this, but was interested in her take). She did inform me that she also owns the nail salon next door, loves to cook and detests crappy food. Sounds like my kind of people! (Except the "loves to cook") While I had a velleity to ask her more about the nail salon, I wasn't moved enough to do more than give it a passing thought. I asked Mai for one bowl of Phở Filet Mignon and a Bulgogi Sandwich. While Mai did not mention her penchant for quick service, I am sure she had that, as it was only 20 minutes before she was seen returning with my foodstuffs. Snapping a few obligatory pictures, I focused on the job at hand. Hey, someone has to do it! I reached for a spoon and took a dip into the Phở. In case you are Johnny-come-lately and have not tried this common Vietnamese soup, you are missing out. Consisting of broth, rice noodles (bánh phở), herbs and meat, more often than not, it's beef, though chicken is also used. Phở (pronounced "fa") can be found in most households, street stalls and restaurants country-wide. It is considered the national dish of the South Eastern Asian country. I found Mai's Phở to be eye-poppingly flavorful with oh-so-tender strips of filet mignon. The broth was delicate yet extremely flavorful and, as such, was a delight on the palate. Two spoonfuls later, just doing quality assurance, I grabbed the Bulgogi sandwich. Interestingly enough, Bulgogi originated in North Korea. The term refers to marinated and grilled strips of meat. In other countries, this would be beef, chicken, or pork. In the country of origin, your guess is as good as theirs. Once again, I found Mai's preparation captivating. As with any sandwich, it all starts with the bread and as the French once ruled Vietnam, they have some of the best French bread on the planet. This baguette was warm, fresh, flaky, chewy and everything a superb bread should be. I went straight for the Special Combination banh mi sandwich with the pork roll, pâté and barbecue pork, and a Vietnamese iced coffee. It came in around $15 for the order, and it was well worth the price. Staff was friendly and interested in clientele. Items are made fresh and quickly. The Bao buns & egg rolls to start were delicious! Great flavor in the Pho. Bulgogi was fresh and we both had plenty left over for later! The staff and Tom were extremely friendly, they really wanted you to enjoy your food. This spot is super cute, smaller tables though, a group of more than six would have to work something out. I only have two complaints; it isn't closer to my house and I drank the Red Thai Tea way too quickly(I almost had to buy another one!).
