A-freakin-maxing. All u can eat crab was not subpar or "discount" crab. It's the best I've had in awhile (and it's something we seek out when not making our own). This was our first trip but will not be our last!!

The Harvest Buffet is in the Gun Lake Casino. We went on Friday night which is all you can eat crab legs. The food was excellent, the service was awesome. My tip is join the casino club. It is free. We got $5.00 off each our meals.

Giving it a 2 and that's generous. Deb our server was great First bite of anything was garlic bread and butter dropped downy chin and onto my shirt . We'll see if that comes out but it's grease so shirt ruined. Buffet at best was mediocre. Potatoes were thick & gummy. Gravy was runny and watery. Green beans were raw. Chicken wasn't great and turkey was undercooked. The only thing good was the creme brulee. Reservations only and quite frankly I would not return.

The Harvest Buffet is located in Gun Lake Casino just south of Grand Rapids. They have a shuttle bus that will take you from GR (and Battle Creek, Kalamazoo, East Lansing, Jackson, Lansing, Portage, and Portland!) to the casino which is really nice. My boyfriend and I stopped here on our way back into town on a Sunday evening for some crab legs! We usually go to Firekeepers for the crab leg / prime rib buffet on special occasions, but this is much closer and definitely just as good. The buffet area seats 300 people and is nicely decorated with lots of stained glass installations. We have never had to wait but might be going at off times. The buffet prices are listed on their website but when we went in July 2018 it was $25.99 per person for their specialty crab legs and comfort food buffet. I'm not sure what the comfort food part was since all the other items were the typical buffet dishes, but all I really cared about were the crab legs! If you've been to the buffet at Firekeepers casino, it's very similar in terms of quality. I think the Harvest buffet is a bit bigger with more variety. Selections include American (fried chicken), Italian (pizza & pasta), Asian (stir fry, Chinese food), Mexican (tacos), and lots of desserts! They did have prime rib on Sunday when we went too. The crab legs were cooked really well and easy to get out of the shell. The other food I tried was all at the correct temperature (important for a buffet!) and pretty tasty. The only complaint is that everything seems pretty over salted, which I find to be true of most buffets save for those in Vegas. Everyone working there was really friendly and our plates were removed quickly, waters refilled, etc. I will definitely be back for some crab legs on our next anniversary or special occasion.

Casino buffet? More like casin-yes buffet! Amiright? Gun Lake Casino's Harvest Buffet presents the intersection of experience and food. The casino is attractive, smartly finished and much less foreboding than Vegas' gigantic caverns. Every surface was immaculate, polished and appeared brand new. Likewise the staff was immaculate, polished, friendly and helpful. Not a single thread or mote dotted the dark carpeting. Harvest Buffet is in the back corner. It is brightly lit, high ceilinged and hospital clean. The globular (thanks again thesaurus.com) hanging lamps are engineered works of art. A battalion of white jacketed staff serve up food representing several cuisines. Cost is quite reasonable, especially considering you could plop down at 11:30 am and eat yourself into a coma- though the attentive staff would check on you long before having to dial 911. The dessert section is its own island, one Gilligan and the castaways would never want to escape. Try one of the sugar free pies; I was doubtful too- what's the point of sugarless dessert?- but the natural fruit sweetness carries it. You may as well ask for a dozen of the creme brulet and save yourself the steps. Not a single staff rolled eyes serving and reserving, giving only kind words and smiles. The food itself is good. Fresh, and served from neat as pin work stations. But clearly mass produced for efficient mass consumption. Overall a good value, and absolutely save room for desert.

Came for the crab legs! We were not disappointed. They had a lot of options with various ethnicities (Italian, Mexican, Asian, etc) also salad and great dessert options. Totally worth the $30. Out server was very attentive and filled our drinks when needed.

We came here for the crab legs and prime rib dinner! 5 stars for that. 3 stars for all of the other food. Average: 4 stars. After a few hands at blackjack (just to barely scratch our casino itch), we headed to the buffet line which was about 40 people deep at 7pm on a Friday night. It surprisingly moved fairly quickly which awed me because I spend at least an hour or two at buffets to get my money's worth :) Don't forget to scan your players card to get $3 off the dinner buffet - per person! Our host was amazing! She got my husband and I a 4 person table 2 down from the crab legs and prime rib stations, right next to the bathroom, and also right across from the servers station. This is a prime location because of the amount of hand washing that's involved with eating crab legs. This also meant that our crab shells were continuously being cleared by the servers while we ate. Also, we heard another server lay claim to the table next to us for her regulars! We were well taken care of! I liked that someone tonged us our crab legs to prevent fights and also to prevent a line which hardly ever occurred. There was never a wait for me to get them - always fully stocked with freshly steamed legs. They were all super meaty and delicious! Moist and perfectly salty. I ate 2 sets of legs (4 total racks). The clarified butter was also delicious - be careful pouring it out because the plastic ramekins aren't insulated. I didn't try the prime rib, but my husband said it was also great - weird that they didn't have horse radish. His piece looked perfectly medium rare with about an inch of fat. Between crab leg plates, I sampled the other cuisine, which ended being a disappointing belly filler. The offerings included Asian, American, Italian, Mexican, and a salad/fruit bar. There were about 3-4 dishes per station. 1. Lo mein: spicy, but good and full of veggies. 2. Green bean gratin: tender, young beans. 3. Chicken penne: standard. 4. Seafood medley: Had shrimp (mini), squid (too squishy and not seasoned), scallops (mini, good). Then....dessert! We grabbed the creme brûlée which just came out and was still warm - oh so good. I could eat the brûlée on its own! We also each got an ice cream sundae from the loaded bar. They even had a signature flavor: up north gun lake something. I don't remember the name but it was long. We asked our ice cream counter server what it was and she described it like Cinnamon Toast Crunch milk made into ice cream - my favorite cereal! It tasted exactly like that! Overall, the Harvest Buffet was clean, food was always stocked and warm, service kept our shells cleared and drinks filled, and the decor was bright and modern. I'd definitely come back just for the crab legs! My only complaint was that the tables were too tall. Or maybe the chairs were too short for the tables. Or maybe, I'm just too short :)

Ask the Community - Harvest Buffet

What is the smokeyness level there? Would you bring a 2 year old to eat with you?

No smoke level in buffet and yes on bringing 2yr old. They have booster seats

Is there a menu list somewhere ? Would love to know the menus before driving all the way out there.

I don't think so. I can tell you they have Asian (Mongolian station, chow mein, fried rice, sweet & sour chicken), Italian (pizzas, pasta, bread), salad bar w/ all the toppings, Mexican (tacos, rice, pork), fried chicken, desserts. If you check… Read more
