Taste of Asia has food from several Asian countries including Thailand, Vietnam & Laos. When we arrived we met Lena the very charming & helpful owner from Laos. She gave us a brief rundown on some of the food items available on their menu. I see my fellow Yelper formerly from Chicago Leang has also been here. I guess foodies find good food no matter where you live or travel to lol We started w/an order of shrimp spring rolls that came w/4 spring rolls loaded w/fresh lettuce, bean sprouts & shrimp. * Issan Pad Ga Pow - Ground Chicken w/Thai Basil, onion, jalapeño w/jasmine rice ball in the center & a crispy fried egg on top of the rice perfectly cooked w/a nice gooey egg yolk on top of the jasmine rice (Excellent Dish) our favorite * Pad See Ew - Thick rice noodles w/beef, Chinese broccoli & egg w/soy sauce w/a sweetness * Larb V - season minced meat, lime juice, patise, cilantro, bean sprouts & sliced cucumbers. Very good but a tad too salty for our taste. So many times when restaurants try to cook a variety of different Asian dishes from multiple countries you end up w/a variety of mediocre dishes. This wasn't the case w/Taste of Asian where each dish had its own unique blend of seasonings that made it unique to the country being represented. Our host Lena was very helpful in helping us choose our dishes. The young girl (probably her daughter came out to check on our needs several times). Her 4 year old son was tasked with bringing out a sticky rice ball wrapped to each table. I asked him how many girlfriends he had he held out his hand w/4 fingers. He better not get any older or he'll be in trouble w/1 girl for every year lol Great food, great service w/a nice choice of options in terms of the dishes to choose from.

There may be one or two small tables, but it isn't really a place you'd sit down to eat. It seems like a family business, there's usually a middle aged couple cooking and a guy who may be their son working the counter. He's not particularly friendly. Not rude - just not friendly. Good news - the food isn't really flavorful, so they likely don't use MSG or any other flavor enhancer. Vegetables seem fresh. Egg rolls are good. The other side of this is the food is bland. Main dishes are really oily. The kitchen is right at the check out, so you can see the cooking surfaces and watch the cooking. A lot of oil. The wonton soup is made with a broth that seems canned - kind of dark gold and not like real chicken broth you find in other Chinese restaurants' wonton soup. Check your order before you leave. One of the recent times we ordered, we ordered 2 orders of wonton soup and got home to find out we had 1 wonton and 1 egg drop. They also don't give you much sweet and sour sauce and sometimes they haven't put it in our order. I always remind them or ask for another one to make sure we get some. My husband ordered friend rice (chicken fried rice?) maybe 3 weeks ago, and it was just a strange mixture. It didn't look like any fried rice we've ever gotten anywhere before, and he said it wasn't very good.

When ordering carry out, the restaurant is kind of dingy and no AC. Clean enough but not where I…read morewould want to eat in. The staff was kind. Crab Rangoons are good, very flavorful. Sweet and sour chicken was good. Friend rice has a Smokey flavor. The chicken with vegetables is good however the food definitely had msg because I could feel it after eating. We both got peanut curry noodles I substituted eggplant for green peppers and got the veggie option. My husband got chicken. There was more than enough to share. When the waitress came to take our order, we explained that we were still waiting for the rest of our group. Her response was very rude. She said, "You told me 15 minutes, and now you want another 30. That's too long. If I had known that, I wouldn't have seated you." She also insisted that we order at least four meals immediately and even told me to call one of the people who hadn't arrived yet to ask what they wanted to order. We understand that restaurants need to keep service moving and that they have policies to follow. However, the way we were treated was unprofessional and made us feel unwelcome. The food looked delicious, and we were genuinely looking forward to dining there. Unfortunately, because of the way we were treated, we decided to leave without eating. I hope this review encourages management to reconsider how customers are treated, especially larger groups. Great customer service can make all the difference.
