I ordered from here without reading any reviews. It's Really good fresh sushi. Fast delivery as well. It is a bit pricey but worth it!

LEFTOVER ISSUE: #1 most GROSSEST and painful moments of eating OUT EVER in my opinion for my ENTIRE LIFE. Husband found a EARRING in his left over hibachi FOOD at work today!!!! rice meat veggies earring !!! black metal diamond stud! I seriously am shocked I can't eat my leftovers now thinking about it Issue While still restaurant: everyone got their steak done cooking, except for me. The chef didn't get enough steak, or gave mine to everyone around me. My husband got a filet that got all mixed up with the sirloins. Seemed like all CHEWYS in his sirloin, supposedly a filet. Chef had to go back and grab 1 steak and cook it while everyone was eating. Everyone was done eating, while I was waiting for my steak to be cooked alone JUST having dental work on his front teeth. We just spent 30,000$ on dental work on implants, I would never spend over 100$ with tip, there again for 2 ppl to eat, and drink, then messing up his new 3 front teeth on a earring that fell out of a employee's ear into my food then sat in my fridge overnight to him eating it the next day at work! Im scarred for LIFE from hibachi!!!! When he told me what happened to him at work today just now, i had to write a review. Been a bit since we have been here. They no longer have the Calamari we loved so much so we tried the Takoyaki and crab Rangoon disappointed with both. The takoyaki has a tiny piece of octopus in the giant donut that was very mushy. Crab Rangoon really lacking also cook put nothing on fried rice other than a ton of soy sauce extremely salty! Cook cooked more steak and still salty is the soy really salty????first time in 20 years refuse to take leftovers home service was great. Everything salty!!!!!! Hibachi Benihana Teriyaki? I love wild chef. But ordered on DoorDash. $40! $36.99 for Yaninuku (japanese seasoned sirloin hibachi plate). It came with miso soup that looks bigger than the bowl they give you at the restaurant, and salad is probably about the same size as in the restaurant. Probably the only hibachi place around in Holland that I like. I can't think of any other places that does hibachi in Holland. read more

Tonight, My husband, 6 yr old daughter and myself witnessed a veteran fall to the ground as a result of one of their booths moving in him when he went to sit down. This gentleman had a metal right leg. He wasn't able to get up, so my husband and another kind man assisted in picking him up off the ground and getting him seated. I was holding my daughter in the booth as she started crying because of what she witnessed. I myself was crying. My husband went and requested they comp his meal as it was Wild Chef's fault. She said she would relay the message to whomever in the back that makes that decision. The lady at the desk was also kneeling down crying, when my husband approached her. No one came over to check on the gentleman once. At the end of the meal, they gave him his FULL bill. His first card was declined and they asked for a different one. I was in complete shock. I went over and asked him if they comped his bill at all and he said no. He was the absolute sweetest man, and had we known they weren't comping him, we would have paid his bill. We have loved eating here all these years and will never return. This isn't how you treat your customers, especially a veteran. read more

We really liked this place for hibachi or sit down but the last 2 times we were here it wasn't as good. We did the restaurant not hibachi: My husband had the hibachi chicken which he always gets. I had the hibachi delicate shrimp which I also always get. The soup was good and the salad for once was not all wet with water in the bottom of the bowl it comes in. These 2 were good Both of our meals were not hot at all in fact barely warm. The rice was the warmest thing on the plate. My mushrooms (I get instead of carrots) were barely cooked & just barely warm. It was like they took them out of the carton tossed them in sauce & put them on my plate. My shrimp was cooked but also barely warm. My husband's followed suit. As I stated this is the second time this has happened . I mentioned it to the waitress & I got an "oh no". Website says they close at 10:30pm, we arrived right before 9:30pm & asked if it was too late to do hibatchi. The door says they close at 10, but they said that's just when they stop seating for hibatchi and assured us it wasn't too late & ushered us to our grill, they were actively looking on other grills for other families so we figured no issue with the time (we would have just done sushi if too late!). Our chef was very nice but pretty low energy- totally get it, near the end of the day, but we didn't get much of a "show". The food was pretty good! At around 10 they began serious cleaning of the establishment including dumping huge buckets of water all over the floor which was not the most pleasant experience while eating. When we walked out about 10:20 we had to walk out through large puddles of water on a pretty slippery floor. I wouldn't go back anywhere close to 9:30 again. Also, if you are having an event I'd avoid the back area - the decor was really lacking in that area, and seemed much nicer in the front areas. read more

We just had a party of 13 for habachi and it was overall a good experience. They brought out ice cream for the birthday person and we had privacy for our group. Prices for the most part fit the dishes and the portion sizes matched. We were in and out in an hour and 15 mins. The service was fast and great. I would certainly come back. read more

(I went here on 07/05/2025) Ordered Avocado Roll & Boston Roll! It came with a miso soup and green tea appetizer. Food: 8 Boston, 6 avocado, very small sizes. avocado roll= one note, nothing big to report. boston roll= funky without eel sauce dip. sushi rice= gummy, maybe overcooked? pot of tea= perfect temp, typical green tea. miso soup= VERY salty, instant miso packs. Cleanliness: Sticky floors throughout. Wild Chef doesn't seem to have a designated cooking area- food is prepared behind a musty display case. Service: The place was nearly empty despite my showing up during typical lunch rush. There are 4 employees total and only 1 speaks fluent English. Normally that doesn't matter but the problem is the waitress and cooks constantly misunderstand each other, causing tension and many food mistakes. I myself got a botched order- then quickly learned any request to fix it irritates the whole hive. The 2 cooks are in foul moods by default, loudly resentful of new orders they barely understand. The 2 front enders pace around and openly mock customers in Spanglish. I discreetly discouraged workplace gossip to the English fluent waitress on my way out- instant Caught in the Cookie Jar face. Did those 4 really think we can't hear them?? Drama aside, my bill was $16.70. Wild Chef has cheap food but the toxic atmosphere is too much for me. This place is gross. My first issue is them charging more than what is on their website. The manager tried to tell me that they have a different website. Secondly, I ordered stir fried udon noodles. What is this. It's literally gray, the chicken has no color looks boiled, and it barely tastes of anything. Definitely not worth $60 to eat garbage. Do not eat here. Sandy and I went there to enjoy a hibachi chef surrounded by other people but, sadly, there were only four of us at the grill. The chef was very entertaining and animated and ready with a smile. He missed three of our molds with the food offerings but that was probably largely due to us not being a good recipient for the food offered. The portions were very generous and we brought home enough for three meals with just two of us. The shrimp iwas cooked perfectly as was the beef, and the fried rice was delicious in and of its own flavors. We will definitely return to this wild chef restaurant and hope for a larger crowd at the hibachi. I always feel the more people the merrier and the greater the laughter as you exploit the chefs skills, which is why he is there to create happiness for us all! read more

My guess is that the Chinese food and hibachi would have been a better choice than the sushi. I was not impressed with the spicy tuna roll that looked and tasted like spam, so I complained and ordered the salmon roll which was better, but not all that good. Great experience for lunch on a Thursday! My wife and I met some family members for lunch here today! The hibachi grill is awesome! We both had chicken hibachi lunch special which came with chicken, fried rice, candied carrots, a salad and onion soup. I opted to just get the salad. The salad came with a sweet ginger dressing. The dressing is good but I should of got it on the side. They put a lot of dressing on top of the lettuce. The lettuce is just iceberg. I wish it was romaine or spinach was mixed in. My wife enjoyed the soup. We both loved the chicken hibachi. The fried rice was prepared for us and another family member with no eggs. The fried rice was delicious! We absolutely loved the carrots. The chicken was flavorful, moist and delicious! A very fun experience for lunch! I highly recommend coming here for lunch! We wish we would of asked to include some broccoli or mixed veggies as well into our chicken hibachi. read more

Oh man. I love hibachi. This was NOT a good place. Like run far away. I had to leave after waiting 45 mins for just the chef, okay fine. Got a call I needed to leave. So we did ours to go... on the way home I opened it up. Over cooked steak.. tasted like burnt charcoal. The chicken was smothered in gravy and the salmon... was dry as can be. I spent $60 to be incredibly disappointed. I can't turn back and return but I wish I could. This food cannot be salvaged... the rice wasn't even cooked all the way. No seasoning will fix this. Benihana style place with a sushi bar. The ambiance is a little down market from a Benihana, but it's also much cheaper, so seemed like a good value for the money, and make sure to use the $20 yelp offer. The food was decent, and the hibachi show was good. The service was good as well. They have a fun vibe, and all the adults at the table got free sake shots which helped the place be pretty lively. read more

To call this place a dump would be a compliment. The day I visited for lunch, the aging front door was broken and off its hinges. The parking lot was dirty , in need of pothole repair and strewn with garbage. The interior was dated, did not feel clean and then it got worse - the food arrived. The hibachi chicken pieces were tough and coated with a tasteless pasty sauce. The only hibachi this chicken saw was when the waitress delivered my meal by walking past a grill! The fried rice accompanying the inedible chicken pieces was bland and flavorless and gummy in consistency. Stewed sweet slices of carrot were included and between the baby food texture of these carrots and the artificially sweetened sauce, I had flashbacks of eating chow at a geriatric prison facility for the toothless. Unless Benihana takes over this place and refurbishes it, I...will...never...go...to...this...place...again. read more

I travel for work here and there and when find myself in Holland, Michigan I gravitate to Wild Chef. The main reason why I like this place is their sushi is actually very enjoyable, good taste, good presentation, good prices, and on Wednesdays they do half off sushi rolls =) I have not however done the hibachi yet, but maybe one of these days. The service has always been friendly and timely. The reason I didn't give this place 4 stars is the ambience is a little outdated and a little dark, and there's like a thousand polaroid pictures on the wall that in my opinion make the place look a little tacky, but alas I respect the opinion of the owner that decided it was a good idea, which is why it's not a big deal and I eat there frequently. I would recommend upgrading the lighting and the overall look of the restaurant a bit, but the food itself is tasty and I would recommend anybody to stop by for sushi =) read more

The chefs were entertaining and very talented the filet we got was cooked to perfection and there were plenty of portions to take home. One of the only, if not only, place in Holland for hibachi. It's been around for years and there's a bit of a decline regarding the place itself and its staff when it comes to service. Food still remains to taste good, so I'm happy with that, along with the prices. 2 stars knocked off because the hostess could care less about her job - she had a poor attitude, was throwing menus onto the table, and failed to say thank you as we walked out because she was busy on her phone with one foot resting up casually on her chair. I had no trouble getting into the restaurant on a Saturday evening. First impression is that it is generally clean but it is a small place. Service is somewhat friendly, but very slow. (While I did get seated right away, I didn't get a refill on a drink until the end of the meal). The chef we had was not really into it, and only added some 'theater' and display to the first few minutes of his cooking (the prep stage) but once the meat hit the table he just cooked and didn't interact. Finally the amount of food you get is very small compared other hibachi places in West Michigan. Osaka and Kobe in Grand Rapids give you 50% more meat than this place does - for about the same price, and the food at those two places is well seasoned and tasty. The food at Wild Chef doesn't stand out taste-wise in any way - it's what I'd expect from a food cart at a convention, not a sit down restaurant. read more

I absolutely love this spot. I just moved here and I found this hidden jem. They have a special sauce to put on rice that is to die for! And their service is incredible! I would recommend their Great Lakes Sushi roll and shrimp fried rice!! read more

This is my favorite place to eat in town! Especially with their 1/2 off sushi rolls on Wednesdays and Saturdays this place is always worth it for me. The sushi is good and doesn't fall apart in your chopsticks. The sushi selection is good too, especially if you love raw fish like me, because a lot of rolls include a lot of different types of fish in it, which isnt always the case at sushi restauranta. I also love love love the fried rice here. Drizzle some of the white hibachi sauce on it and it's amazing. PRO TIP if you like their hibachi and don't really care about the show (esp if you go there as often as I do) just sit in the dine in area and order it off the menu.
