Although seemingly small, the upstairs area offers more privacy and a nice quiet atmosphere for lunch. Would be a wonderful spot to read a book and eat delicious hamburgers. My oh my was I surprised at the fries! My kids and I only needed one side of fries. And to think the server almost had me order three! Chicken wings were good even naked. Sad to say that 3 times visiting and I'm done. Every time we've sat at the bar to be ignored by the bartender and had to get her attention. She wasn't busy with other people at the bar - she was chatting with other staff and preparing to-go orders but some acknowledgment that we had been sitting there in front of her would have been a start. Harry's does not have burgers on their menus, they have small sliders with teensy amounts of over-done, super greasy beef (maybe a tablespoon amount of beef smashed flat) in giant slider buns and condiments. Mine had onions strings and they were so greasy I had to remove the mess from the sliders. Deconstructing the sliders it became obvious that really you're getting a small condiment sandwich with a little sliver of beef inside. We ordered the half sweet potato fries/half onion strings to share - so gross and unable to eat any of it. The bartender never stopped to check in with us. We got her attention (she seemed annoyed at the interruption of her conversation with a friend/staff member) and pointed out how the fries/strings were inedible due to the grease. She shrugged and said that is the way they are made. They were not removed from our bill. I only ate 1 1/2 sliders out of the 3 and couldn't finish them because of how disgusting the grease was. My stomach became wicked upset and I had reached my tolerance limit for bad dining experience. Won't ever go again - so many better dining options around. read more

If you're looking for pub grub basics, everything on the menu is great. I highly recommend this location for pick up items. If you're dining in you're taking your chances. The food is still great and so is the bar service, but for seated dining this place is the pits. The restaurant is small, dark, and cramped and has the look and smell of a place that hasn't been maintained since it's opening. The staff turnover rate seems pretty high and the service outside of the bar is mediocre on a good day. It's almost unavoidable to be seated next to the bathroom- which releases a strong chemical odor every time someone opens the door, or the indoor trashcans that always smell like rotting fish. Been driving to Rhode Island for more than 10 years just to get Harry's. The best sliders ever crafted and honestly some of the best burgers out there. The beer on draft is pretty good too, a little pricey tho. The whole menu is excellent however the M.O.AB threesome (three sliders) is the way to go. The sauce with the fried onions And mushroom is a god send. It could get a little tight on the first floor but luckily there a second floor. The wings were pretty spicy for me... but still good. I enjoyed my burger a lot and it was a lot more filling than I expected for its size. I also ordered a hot dog and that thing was HUGE! Unfortunately it wasn't hot enough (kind of a no-no for a hot dog). Unfortunately I can't say that anything really stood out. Somehow it's an easy place to forget. We were looking for one good place to have dinner and one good Sarmatian suggested this. We found this after 20 mins of 'quest'. We were 7-8 people and we got the table upstairs. If you're in providence and not eating at Harry's then what are you doing with your life?! It's my ideal dive bar. Great food, good beers, and SO CHEAP. Harry's is a must for every time I make a trip to Providence. The sliders are my favorite. The MOAB and Pig Pile are definitely the best ones (honorable mention to the fungus amungus). Vegetarian friends have also said the the black bean sliders are one of the better veggie burgers they've had. The 1/2 off deal on all sliders between 3-5pm everyday is crazy (in a good way of course). Cheapest, most delicious meal. The beer selection is also very impressive. There's something for everyone. I love burgers and beer! And Harry's is the place for both in Providence. While traveling to Rhode Island for business, I can in early and wanted to explore Providence. Quite a bit to see, and like any large city, there's many options for meals. Situated right downtown not far from the Capital, train station, and Brown University, Harry's is the perfect balance of casual dining, great service, and incredible burgers. Hats off to Ryan working the bar who was fantastic. The burgers are slider style, so not too filling, but feature perfectly cooked beef patty's on a fresh potato bun. Lots of variations! It's a burger /bar place with "Burger" in the name! In a town with a famous Culinary School! I really want to give this more than one star because I had such a wonderful time with old friends. The food was secondary, but the food itself isn't deserving of even one star. I'll get the positives out of the way first, because I don't want to be a Debbie Downer. We had a great table outside on the side walk. My seltzer was perfect, as were our glasses of water. Our server was nice, attentive, answered all the questions we had, though not accurately. Our food came out pretty quickly (guess that's easy when everything is precooked and just waiting to be plated). The fried pickles were ok. Blue cheese dressing was ok. Onion strings way too thin and greasy. Fries, cold and soggy. Everything else was inedible. Our server's definition of "really good" misrepresented quite a bit. The burgers are not burgers! They're "sliders", we were told, when we later oasked. The precooked brown meat ish round things are grey underneath because they've been sitting in a steam table or some sort of holding vortex. They're not cooked to order, and they're not cooked medium well as we were told they would be. DOA. We kept telling our server that we really wanted rare burgers. She said they're small, so we can't cook them any way except medium well. We all know, any protein,any size, can be cooked at any temp. If she was a good server, she would have known we would be unhappy and should have steered us toward something else. "In a Bowl" means on wilted iceberg lettuce. We were told it was a nice salad mix with romaine and carrots and whatever else that particular burger comes with. NOT! No romaine, brown edged iceberg, no carrots or anything else to make it a nice salad. Another couple leaving, was disappointed in the new brand of hot dog they're using and said it was dry and flavorless. How is it possible to ruin a hot dog? Not worth spending any more time on the review. Please take "Burger" out of your name. I'm sure a crime is being committed! Tried Harry's Bar and Burger on a whim while traveling through Providence. Arrived later in the evening and it wasn't very busy so we were seated immediately. The waitress was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. I tried the 'Mother Of All Burgers' with a side of salt and pepper fries and dipping cheese. I didn't feel the fries were anything special but the sliders were delicious! Portion sizes were a little smaller than average but I did not leave hungry. I would definitely return if in the area. Went back to Harry's Bar and Burger on a Saturday afternoon. Waitress was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. Unlike our first visit, our food arrived cold and wasn't quite as flavorful.
