Seven Stars Bakery was the only bakery and coffee shop that stood out when searching for a place to have coffee nearby on this early cold morning. They were already closed when I drove by yesterday evening so I wasn't able to see what it looked like inside. But for some reason, I felt compelled to give them a visit. After all, when it's cold like this...I have a tendency to find a bakery in the morning and go very carb-heavy with a nice hot mug of brewed tea or coffee. As I walked up, I was immediately awed by the snow covered outdoor patio. It was beautifully covered in a light layer of snow (obviously unused due to the weather) with little birds all fluffed up and perched atop some of the chairs. They sure looked like little caretakers of the area and were a very cute sight! Walking through the door immediately transported me out of the elements into a very warm and comfortable zone filled with the scent of freshly baked bread and pastries and fresh coffee grounds. Both happy and awake banter as well as sleepy groans enveloped the room. You could hear the staff buzzing around moving pastries and firing up fresh brews for those in line. It's pretty awake in here compared to everything else outside. Stepping up to look at the baked options on the front counter, I was greeted by one of the friendliest voices I've heard in a while. She was so cheerful that I couldn't help but wonder if it's the coffee or tea they serve here or the potent pastries lining the display shelves. Well, whatever it is, I definitely want what she had! I settled for a dirty chai and a couple of pastries and sat on one of the high tops beside my little feathery friends staring in from outside. Each sip divine. Each bite absolutely lovely. Even chatted with an older gentleman with the coolest indigenous soft cloth coat beside me. Everyone was friendly. Everyone was kind. They sure are not the usual sleepy and grumpy breakfast spot. I am not sure if they added more flowers and greenery since the last time I was here but their patio outdoor dining area is so pretty. There's a big pretty tree in the center and about 10-15 tables all around. There are tables in the shade, some in the sun and some inside; there's something for everyone. Birds come and go, looking for treats but they aren't aggressive. I had just had lunch somewhere else, so I was there for a drink. I ended up going with the iced golden green tea. It was simple, but a great option for hot days where you need something refreshing. The small was a little over $3. My friend had 2 shots of espresso and that was also a little over $3. All their staff was very friendly and helpful as always. They have street parking all around. read more

There are a bunch of seven stars around Providence, but this one is my favorite. It has easy places to sit and there's plenty of parking that you can find around it. They have a good hot chocolate and their pastries are always good. Everyone that works there is always so nice and they really do have a cute spot. read more

After eating their Kouign-amann, I immediately regretted paying for it. $6.20 for basically a croissant! I was going through a quick list of how many more satisfying things I could have ate for $6. I asked the server what was in it and she said vanilla & honey. There was no sweetness inside of it, it was just regular croissant dough. The only sweetness was the top and the bottom. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't bad and the best part was the caramelized bottom. But $6 and 6 bites later it was gone. It's just a fancy croissant worth $4. I remember getting their amazing sticky bun not too long ago for only $4. Now that's over $6 too and Seven Stars is now officially overpriced. The sourdough loaves are fantastic. I get a sourdough pan sliced and it elevates my sandwiches so much! The pastries are also fantastic. The cinnamon bun is good but I've had better (it could have been lighter/flakier). The ham and cheese though was amazing (even cold). It would be out of this world if it was heated. The service was great. The coffee was really good. There's lots of seating for a cute little coffee date or you can grab and go. This is quickly becoming a favorite of mine. read more

It has become a popular place to relax, refuel, and bond with loved ones. We arrived on a Sunday. So disappointed as I had read lots of reviews about this breakfast stop. The reason I was underwhelmed was that my cold brewed iced coffee was so bitter I couldn't finish it... the server recommended the chocolate almond croissant which had almond paste, many millions of crushed almonds but little chocolate. It's taste was fair and I saw many other things which looked better but went with the staff recommendation. Unfortunate. My wife had the scone which she said was tasty and not dry or hard. So, in summation Don't believe the hype about the food, but go because the patio is gorgeous...just order judiciously. So maybe it should be renamed less than 7 Stars.? read more

If you've spent much time in Providence, you know to go to Seven Stars for consistently delicious bread, coffee, and pastries. Still, this newest location gets around some of the issues at the other locations. The Hope St location can be a bit cramped, and parking runs out quickly on the weekends. This location is spacious with plenty of seating (indoors and outdoors), and there's more street parking in the area. Even though they took over Olga's, a very similar business, they completely redid the inside and it looks beautiful. The grape and rosemary focaccia ($4.75) was delicious, especially when toasted. One note is that they don't have wifi so if you're planning to do work here, be prepared to go off the grid or use your personal hotspot. read more

We always like looking for well recommended coffee shops when we travel. This location was highly recommended and while expensive, the quality of the food and coffee did not disappoint. Our issue was the staff choosing to display political signs on their clothing. Many of the issues being highly emotive. In my opinion it's totally out of place for any business to allow their staff to display their personal (or is it of the actual business?) political beliefs. Their job is to provide excellent service and make everyone feel welcome. The way to do this is not to choose sides on an any world affairs and to just do your job. This is a very cute bakery and coffee shop! They have a small outside garden area and plenty of seating indoors. They have very yummy snack type foods but I'm sure they go quickly. I had a cinnamon roll which was very good. But, I rate coffee and theirs was excellent! They use locally roasted beans and have a small La Marzocco machine. The barista did a good job crafting my usual latte. The milk was well textured and at a good temperature. My dad got a pretzel and a coffee which he said was very good. The staff were super friendly and there was tons of indoor and outdoor seating. I love the bread from Seven Stars. I've tried their baguette and their sourdough which were delicious and super fresh by themselves. This location also sells coffee which I've tried their iced white chocolate mocha and iced pumpkin spiced latte. Both were delicious and were a great afternoon pick me up! They have cold sandwiches and salads on the side which they can toast for you. Their sandwiches are yummy with such great bread. It fills you up even if it's not big. I think the salad was a miss for me and I wasn't fond of the flavor but there are other salad choices. read more

Although rumford location is my favorite, this one really hits it out of the park with the seating. The patio is gorgeous and they even have a tent so you can sit on the patio even when it's cold or windy. Inside is also gorgeous if you're grabbing a drink for inside. My husband and I went here on a Saturday morning. The location is soooo perfect! It's right in the city so after your coffee and treat you can go for a nice walk on the pedestrian bridge. The food here is pretty good and so are the coffees, to give you an idea my husband says I like coffee with my cream lol, but their americano didn't need cream at all. On my tour of local coffee joints, I learned that Seven Stars is one of the mainstays and has locations all over Providence. My friend took me to the Point St. location, which I immediately fell in love with. Key word: SPACE. There's a lot of indoor and outdoor seating - smaller tables, one big table (saw a party of 8 having a study session, perhaps?), wall-side tables, and a ton of high-tops and 4-seater tables outside. They share a beautiful garden patio with Tiny Bar next door with cool art pieces, a floral arrangement, and sculptures. It's a lovely place on a sunny weekend morning! There also seems to be a lot of care in terms of the ingredients for their breads and pastries, as well as their coffees. Had a sausage and onion quiche (on beautiful branded plates, no less) and it was delectable! My friend said they also give you a free baguette on your birthday. Service is impeccable. Our order got lost in the system, but the lady doing all the baking quickly got our quiches to us and gave us a ticket for a free pastry in the future to make up for the mistake. I have enjoyed visiting the Seven Stars on Hope Street for several years and very much enjoy their almond and chocolate almond croissants, scones and coffee drinks. The lavender coffees are excellent. This location in the former Olga's location has beautiful outdoor patio seating and features local art including murals. A gorgeous place to sit outside and it's like an oasis in this part of the city. They have some great Fall seasonal items and I am looking forward to their hot apple cider offerings! read more

The staff warmed up the quiche which were tasty and had a nice balance of eggs, cheese and veggies. I also had their blueberry turnover - BERRYLICIOUS!
