The upstairs area is a homeless shelter, literally every table is taken up by homeless ppl who have staked their claim (many without masks to boot). I've seen the Starbucks employees interact with them without their masks on and serve customers. I've even seen the Starbucks employees touch the baked goods with their bare hands at the end of the day to resell the next day. You would think they would wear gloves at baseline, but especially during a pandemic! The rest of the grocery store is okay in a pinch, the sale items are decently priced. So clean! So new! Such enthusiastic employees! I am so glad there is a close grocery store to me now that I can easily walk to. They also have a Starbucks in there, so you can leave with groceries as well as a pumpkin spice latte. Their take-out lobster rolls and macaroni and cheese are delicious, they have a hot breakfast/lunch/dinner bar I haven't checked out yet, and hot pizza to go! The dessert case always looks stunning, and I got my birthday store-brand ice cream cake from here- cheaper and better than the Carvel cakes next to them. They also sell giant (and I mean giant) balloons, flowers, fresh cut fruit and veggies, etc. My only disappointment is that their bakery seems a bit small- I would love a better selection of bagels and bread, particularly during off days/times. FYI, the cashiers take your cart behind their station and run the items through themselves (like Trader Joe's), which always throws me off. I haven't parked in their (free) underground garage, but it seems like it would be overwhelming to get in and out of their garage, particularly during rush hour. You have to sign up for their Vic rewards card in person at their counter (not online), but the process was pretty fast. It's actually been pretty quiet every time I've gone, which is nice for me when I'm shopping, but secretly worries me that they will close one day. Overall, two thumbs up! They're open 24/7 and if your arena regular here, you'll see that often times they have sales on most Staples about every 2nd to 3rd week. It may be a day fferent brand, but a sale none the less. I like how they always have everything I look for I stock. Because of their great selection, I find it best to buy in small portions and only what you need, and come back again when you need something else. read more

Senior Hours I went to HT in downtown Bethesda on Thursday during their senior hours. Here's what I found: -no carts inside, had to go back down to garage to get one. Sanitized? I think not. -produce department desimated. Barren bins, wilted, brown inedible lettice. -one check out lane open with an attendant -lots of millenials shopping. Can they all have an underlying condition? -workers reporting for work before 8 maskless and covering their faces with jackets Need I say more? read more

I had to spend some time in Bethesda, MD for health reasons. I was on the NIH campus staying at the Family Lodge. We needed some food that was not hospital cafeteria food. Harris Teeter was a life saver! I found my favorite drinks as well as an excellent sub sandwich. I use to work a Publix in the Deli and I feel I am an excellent judge of Grocery Store sub programs. Harris Teeter did not disappoint. While I did not choose the hot food that had a decent selection of hot food, salad, fruit, olives and many grab and go options. This location had a great parking garage as well as a few access points at street level. They had a Starbucks as well as some great dining space. The store was clean and the associates were friendly. We had a great cashier that was friendly and helpful. If you are staying at the NIH or Walter Reed hospital this a great location to visit. The only reason for not getting five stars is a grocery store has to do something special for that and while this is a great store, they can always do a bit more to take it to the next level. read more

The employees are always friendly here! The breakfast bar is a-mazing. I have also eaten the salad bar a few times. It's now a new addition of mine. It's been well stocked each time (11:30 am). The Asian bar is pretty good too. Oh! and the sushi ain't bad for a grocery store. Sometimes you can grab a $5 roll! The pizza is awesome and cheap! My only complaint is that sometimes the shelves need to be stocked. One must must must try the prime rib dinner on Thursdays! Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is a high end tasting meal of dry aged prime rib, fresh steamed veggies, potatoes au jus and horseradish sauce for $9.99. I made two meals out of my dinner and savored every last bite! read more

It was great to find helpful staff readily available at H-T today to find and sometimes even walk me a the way to what i needed. This is unusual these days and truly welcome as usually when you need help there's nobody around. Then, i got stuvk in the elevator for about 20 minuwhile heading to the garage! But within about 5 minutes of ringing the Larms and calling from the elevator phone someone came to explain that the fire department was on its way and talked yhe other 2 passengers and me out of panic. Within 10 more minutes the firemen arrived and pried the doors open and sprung us to safety. The manager, Don, was there to apologize and assist us to the cars and graciously offered to comp us for t he groceries. That was thoroughly decent. I may choose the escalators in the future, but I'll definitely be back to H-T. Outstanding service even in the time of COVID. read more

Most of the cashiers here are great, but one of them always leaves me upset or in tears. Today, he was the only lane open, so I had no other choice. He screeched at me for using my own shopping cart instead of the store's cart because he didn't want to touch it. I explained that I don't drive and need my cart to get my groceries home, and he became very combative and started throwing my food on the belt at the speed of lightning. What are people who walk home supposed to do if they can't use their own cart? If he doesn't want to touch anything, maybe he shouldn't be working in a grocery store. Well, I tried it again for lunch, this time for the deli lunch special. A sandwich, drink and chips for $5.49. Who can go wrong with that deal, right? Wrong! The quality of the tuna salad is abysmal...it's like eating cat food. I have choked down half the sandwich from sheer hunger, but the rest is going in trash. Seriously, I would like to know what type of tuna they are using, because even the non-albacore out of a can is better quality than what is on my sandwich. read more

Well it's Friday eve and I've come to the conclusion that I can't survive on happy hours and need to actually purchase some real food. In anticipation of my self-imposed Netflix and hibernation this weekend I headed to HT after work to buy groceries ...unfortunately with the closure of all public schools in MoCo looks like everyone else had the same idea. Initially no carts or baskets available so I just started tossing stuff in my reusable shopping bag. After hitting the cheese counter, deli and bread aisle my bag starts to feel impossibly heavy so I headed back and luckily a few carts were now available. The store is packed with people, checkout lines snake around the shelves and up the aisles...they're sooo long, why did I wait until the last minute to go grocery shopping‍. Push my cart past the long lines towards self-checkout and can't believe my eyes, a register is open with only 2 people in line. Wait my turn and notice the cashier and lady bagging the groceries laughing and making small talk with everyone in line. The staff have to be overwhelmed with a number of people, questions, empty shelves and constant restocking but they still managed to provide excellent, quick and efficient customer service. Once again, my irregular trip to customer service is always bad! This young lady by the name Lynette has a very disturbing attitude! It seems I always end up getting her help ( lack there of) a simple question about some wrong prices on some items and it's attitude for no reason as if she doesn't want to be there. I mean why make all these Ace Ventura faces, It's simple if you don't like the job that you were hired to do, then quit or find another one. ITS CALLED CUSTOMER SERVICE NOT ATTITUDE SERVICE! Gheesh! I thought me speaking to customer service manager the last time would have changed some things but I guess not. So with that being said I will file a complaint with there cooperate office. I love Harris Teeter in general. This location has a lot of samples and a wide variety of cooked food. There's also underground parking, and the store itself is huge. Glad to have this in the neighborhood, especially as it's midway between home and the gym. The store is clean and the staff I've interacted with is mostly friendly. However, my gripe is with the Fresh Food area - otherwise known as the deli area. Take out food is far below standard and less than adequate. Recently, I bough a farro and roasted butternut squash salad, as well as a broccoli slaw. Neither was prepared appropriately. The squash in the farro salad was raw (even my dog wouldn't eat it) and the broccoli slaw had pieces of broccoli stem that were too fibrous to eat (meaning they didn't adequately trim the broccoli before they shred it.) Someone in the deli area is cutting corners and the food quality is suffering. Then my next gripe is unacceptable personal hygiene behavior of a deli-area worker. He was near the hot food bar and sneezed at the hot food bar and made absolutely no attempt to cover his mouth or even turn his head. I immediately changed my mind about purchasing anything on the hot food bar. A sneeze shield does not eliminate the need for people to cover their mouths when they sneeze. Hope the management at this store sees this and makes the appropriate performance changes to improve the one section in the store that seems to be underperforming so far. read more

I love Harris Teeter in general, but this place is a mess. Always understaffed at the registers, which forces a really long, slow line at the self checkout. If you try to order online instead, you'll be lucky to get an order without multiple screw ups. The only good thing about this place used to be that it was 24/7, but now it's 6AM until midnight, which is terrible. I do like the fish and meat counter workers though, even if the fish doesn't seem to be as good as other Harris Teeters. read more

It's like they're in the business of sales prevention! The store is fine, selection good, staff friendly - but then you get to check out!! I have literally NEVER seen more than one person working a register - even at peak hours. The lines wind around the store and the wait time can be 20 minutes (15 minutes for me today). I've been a fan of Harris Teeter stores for a long time. They carry a wide selection of products and their prices are great. So I'm excited that a new location has opened in Bethesda! The store is bright, clean, and everything was easy to find. There are many employees around to answer questions (they've only been open for a couple days, so that could change). I think their prepared food section is much larger than the one in Rockville. If you are looking for lunch or dinner, keep this place in mind! Sushi, pizza, salad, sandwiches, rotisserie and fried chicken, Asian food, even a bar to make your own trail mix! Starbucks is upstairs for the caffeine seekers. I can see many quick-dinner stops here in my future. The parking garage is free and has a 2 hour limit, but no annoying ticket gate to snarl traffic. Whew! The signs say towing is enforced, so don't push your luck! Alas, no wine or beer section. :( But they have everything else you could want and some stuff you've never seen, so I forgive them. read more

Beware: Thoroughly check your receipts after purchase! Deductions of certain sale items are often suppose to be made at the very end of the transaction. I discovered FOUR items incorrectly scanned. When some of Harris Teeters competitors incorrectly scan a item, the customer is issued that particular item for free. Harris Teeters does not have that policy. More than 10 minutes was spent reconciling their FOUR errorS.....without any apology. Surprisingly also, rain checks are issued for only a quantity of 3 vs their competitors who issue 6. That said, I do appreciate enough of their prices, so will return.....and continue to thoroughly check my receipt, after each purchase. read more

I live just across the street. We go to Harris teeter at least twice a week. It is our favorite store! It has so many stuffs, fruit, meat, fish, international goods, and other seafood. I used to shop here all the time until Covid hit. I tried picking up groceries once, and it was great. However, do NOT ask for delivery. They farm out delivery and take no responsibility for what happens to your order -- which you've already paid for! They left my order in the lobby, where everybody enters the building. Since I've moved to Bethesda I've had nothing but good experiences as this grocery store. The employees are helpful and courteous, especially the ones who work at the counters at the back of the store. The store has great sales and promotions that can be found through their app, where you can make lists and also order your groceries ahead of time. They also have several in store promotions that are a nice bonus like the 9.99 Prime Rib meal on Thursdays or their Pizza Monday deal. Overall the store is very well maintained and modern and there is parking garage located under the store to make shopping that much easier. read more

This is a small Harris Teeter so things are not laid out like a larger grocery store. It took some time to find things but the employees were super friendly and helpful. Parking is free in the garage and there is an escalator for people and carts and an elevator. read more

For the last 6 months at least I have to Harris Teeter hoping to get breakfast at 6:30AM and it was never ready until almost 7AM. The hours of the breakfast bar are 6:30AM - 10AM. I have always asked for a store manager and there was never one available. The employees responsible for the breakfast bar are arriving late since there is no manager to do quality control on their working hours. Today I decided to speak with a manager from any department. I was directed to James Watson (Grocery Manager) and explained my frustration to him. I hope this issue is corrected by either requiring the employees to have the breakfast ready at 6:30AM or change the serving breakfast hours from 7AM-10AM. I wanted to be able to get the groceries at Harris Teeter and then get the breakfast immediately after that. Next door is the Tasty Dinner (Open 24 hours) and just get my food delivered by Giant directly to my home. I'm so happy to have this HT in my neighborhood, it has been a life changing experience, I can do my grocery shopping on my lunch hour and get a great lunch as well.! The employees are very nice and eager to help, the butcher counter is my favorite part, they let me chose the cut I want, products are fresh and the store is so clean all the time, I mean a 24 hour store, is great. At first the niceness of the employees spook me a little, I kind of was used to the rudeness of the Safeway employees on Old Georgetown Rd. who always seem so annoyed when customers approach them. I also like the bakery very much and the deli bar,. At the check out, the cashiers take your basket from you and walk you to the next available register, is great.! Prices are fair, let's be honest, groceries are not cheap. All together I'm happy and grateful for the excellent products and service. The one thing that needs a lot of improvement is the fact that they have only one register open at all times, That's annoying.! read more

"The Teet" is a great grocery store- WAY better than Safeway or Giant because they double coupons, employees are super friendly, there's a Starbucks, and they have self-checkouts. I've been trekking up the Pike to shop at the Rockville location for a year or so now, but this one is one block from my apartment--I'm just sad that it took so long to open, especially since now I'm moving halfway across the country in a few weeks. The Woodmont Triangle was in desperate need of not just a grocery store, but a good one. It's not a huge store, but they utilize the space pretty efficiently. I'm surprised that there is no signage on Wisconsin Ave., just on Woodmont/Battery Lane. Blink and you might miss it! read more

The shop had really good service when they opened it last year. Recently most of the old employees are replaced by new one. Most of them are not professional or friendly. They keep one price in the price tag of products and charge you differently. If you are not careful they will rob you. If you challenge them, the answer is the new employees must have made a mistake; the discounted price is not in the system. Then you end up paying high prices. Harris Teeter in Bethesda beats every other grocer in the area. I am drawn to VIC Card items on sale which seem plentiful, but the quality is outstanding and the service as if they are owners. Love the 3-course meals for $6. Can't eat for that price healthy and quality anywhere. Crab Cakes outstanding, produce has large selection and is of high quality. Their New York plain cheesecake recipe in the Bakery is unbeatable. Have you noticed you don't seem to find many things at other grocers? Here I find them and more. Great selections. Giving it a four because the staff gets an A+ not a fan of their food bar I only had the bbq chicken, mac & cheese and fried chicken (none seasoned or dressed to my liking, felt lacking) but they have an array of options. I love the produce section! Everything looks fresh. The aisles are neat and it's not really crowded yet. Definitely get a Vic card, as prices are a bit more than what I'm used to compared to my usual shopping spots. But overall it's pretty and new. Enjoy! There is parking. read more
