The parking lot here stresses me out and the elevators are slow. Would rather drive further to a different TJs

Shopping here has become a nightmare since a fradulent scammer Vanguard Parking Solutions company headquartered in Hollywood Florida has taken over the parking lot. They are sending people tickets of $125 and there's no CLEAR parking notice or PARKING METER. They should be abundantly clear to customers. Furthermore they have an F, yes FFFFF rating on the Better Business Bureau site with over 73 customer complaints since only September of 2025! Customers beware and stay away from this place. This location isn't as close as the Trader Joe's on H Street NE in DC, but we were in the area. There is a Target and parking garage connected to the stores. The store is a bit cramped. There is a nice selection of items (a smaller inventory that you would expect to find at any Trader Joe's). The produce looks great. There are interesting snacks (pickle flavored popcorn). There is a great selection of cheeses and "picnic" items. Trader Joe's carries a mock chicken seasoning that I like. You can find neatly packaged fresh meat and vegetarian items. It's very small, but it seems to have everything. Is walking distance from where I live, so it's very convenient for me

I enjoy shopping here for certain kinds of health foods and packaged goods. Also a decent array of produce. Some nice frozen meals and cereals, but a lot of processed food as well. The store is clean and well-maintained. Employees are friendly and helpful when you need it. I agree about the parking. It's not ideal or easy. But the location is central Bethesda so that makes it convenient. read more

Used to be a huge fan of Trader Joe's but over the past few years it seems this specialty grocery chain has become a bit tired - especially, I suppose, when compared to the larger specialty stores like Balducci's and Whole Foods. It's still fun to come in and see what they have once in a while, but I've found that my last few trips the quality is not so much better or the selection that much more unique to balance out the costs. This location is one of the nicest ones though, but a huge drawback is the parking garage/lot from hell: tiny spaces, weird traffic flow and horrible drivers. Tiny parking spaces aside, I really like this location. It's easy to miss from the street, as it is wedged on the top floor of a cluster of buildings. The exterior belies the size as the store was surprisingly spacious. Of course, the store was plastered in pumpkin items and it made it all too easy to find what I came for: the pumpkin cereal bars. I've waited all year for this moment and I definitely took advantage! (I may, or may not have left with eight boxes. Don't judge me.) Despite the line, check out was relatively quick, and the cashier was an absolute sweetheart. I wish I had more time to browse, but I had to get going. If I'm in the neighborhood again, now that I know that there's a TJ's nearby, I'll be sure to stop by and pay a visit. read more

I came to this TJ's on a whim the other day just because I was on this side of town. I didn't need much, so I figured I'd just pop in, no big deal. First, let me say: I hate the placement of this store (lol silly complaint, I know, but it's oddly placed), and the setup of the inside of the store is a bit odd. It's a bit smaller than the TJ's I usually go to, but no big deal, I went in looking for chili onion crunch and that's it, and I missed it on my first pass through, so I had to loop around and come back to grab it. Overall the store was stocked well enough, but again, since it's smaller than the store I usually shop at, it seemed like it didn't have everything that the other one does (but that could be my imagination). It was a bit chaotic inside as well, but the employees were friendly enough. I probably wouldn't go back (other than because I have no reason to come back to this location), but I didn't really enjoy the store. It gave me a bit of anxiety lol! read more

I'm a long time Trader Joe's fan!! I'd never visited this Bethesda location but decided to stop in since I was in the area. As always, the staff were nice and helpful. One thing I noticed is that this location had a lot of the langostino tails, while other locations that I frequent usually don't have as much in inventory-maybe it's because my visit was on a Tuesday. They did not have the Dill salad dressing (produce section) that recently became one of my TJ's favs...but this is something I can't find other stores; I guess I'm not the only one who loves it. This Is my least favorite Trader Joe's ever. Difficult to park in the cramped lot on third floor. Always seems gloomy in there, perhaps they need brighter lighting. Aisles are very cramped and they never seem to be in stock of anything. Staff aren't as cheerful or helpful as they are in other locations. Go to the one on Rockville Pike and you'll have a much better experience. read more

This holiday traffic is horrendous so I decided to take a pit stop at TJ to kill time. I saw Target too so I figured it was a good idea. The garage parking was tiny! I felt like I was playing bumper cars. They are located off of Wisconsin Ave. which explained the craziness. I thought it would get better once I walked inside. In their defense, it's a few days before Thanksgiving and people get nutty but I wasn't a fan of the elbow bumping and tight space this location had. The store seemed under stocked and cluttered. The floor plan was weird with barely enough room for the shopping carts. The customer service here was okay, I've had better elsewhere. I kindly asked for a pumpkin pie (must get by the way) and he seemed bothered and annoyed to get it in the back. The cashier was friendly and attentive so I'll give them that. I'm not sure if I'll ever shop at this Trader Joe's ever again unless I want an anxiety attack. read more

I love Trader Joes, but I always have issues with the produce at the 2 Bethesda locations. There have been bugs in my vegetables, weird moldy fruit, and overall rotting problems. Not sure what is up. read more

Parking here is a disaster because the garage is tight but it's better than other Trader Joe's. It's on Wisconsin Ave so lots of traffic. They have a decent amount of stuff but not a big store but I'm really happy they had a full stocked section of cauliflower gnocchi which I can't seem to find anywhere in Arlington because people would buy the whole freaking section. One thing I don't like is that there's no wine section which is obviously a state law because we have that in VA. The staff here is friendly and helpful. Like I said, this store is small and spaces are tight so people are bumping into each other. read more

This is a great store, but I have to say that their business will probably drop due to the new parking scam in the attached lot (used mainly for Trader Joe's). I literally cannot park there anymore. The parking attendant guy showed me, as I was leaving the lot today, small signs to scan a square barcode (which I can't do on my phone as I have security settings that don't allow that) to even enter the lot. There is NO WAY I would have seen this sign had he not pointed it out. It is small, and *on a wall that I have never even looked at before, not visible from cars or while walking to the store*. Coincidentally I got a bill in the mail when I got home for an $85 unpaid parking fee (from a place called Vanguard Parking Solutions in Hollywood FL) for parking at the lot a few weeks ago without scanning a barcode and paying (with photos of my license plate entering and leaving the lot). Mind you, I've been shopping there for almost a decade, there is literally zero way to have known this. And the fee for the lot is like $10.50, per what I saw today. This trader joe space feels a little tight. It has all the staples but it is not as delightful as the other ones I have been to in the DMV. It's not really convenient to where I live so I wouldn't go out of my way to go back. It was ok but as Trader Joe's go, it was just ok. read more

I've been a TJ shopper for years with visiting different stores in different states & really enjoy this location, especially as its a 10 minute walk from work. If you're driving it could be a little hectic to get to with the ins & outs of the parking garage & just a few street metered parking spots. In the event you can't walk up the stairs there is a very slow elevator to utilize. The staff isn't as welcoming when you walk in, yet they seem to warm up if you approach them for assistance. This TJ's is a little smaller that most stores yet still offers most of the 'regular' items TJ's known for in addition to being well organized & stocked. I applaud how they staged the cooking & sampling area with the tight space they're working with & would like to see more Veggie/Vegan items to sample. :-) My only complaint is not utilizing all the cashiers available during the rush hour of lunch & or early afternoon shopping. read more

GROCERY STORE / FLOWER SHOP!!!! I often stop by to pick up some grocery favorites and try something new, but mostly I'm a fan of this location due to a huge selection of plants that they have each week. And they're very affordable! The flower and plant selection that this Bethesda location has is so large, they should advertise as part-flower shop. It's the best out of any other TJ location. They always have new flowers and plants coming in and wilted ones taken off the shelves. They sure have volume but not so much of a variety for a collector - for someone who wants a totally new plant to add to my collection, it can get a bit redundant. For example, out of orchids they mainly carry just the Phalaenopsis (moth) type, many are similar in coloring, quality is average, rare to see unique phals, and they stopped carrying other species/hybrids. However, they do have a huge selection and the price is right for anyone needing a decent beautiful orchid that has plenty of blooming time left. Orchids are $6.99 to $19.99. The 'regular' large orchids are $12.99. Succulents ($2.99 to $8.99 or so). I got a few, which I love, and now patiently wait for something more unique to arrive-sure wish they would carry the type that I can only find online. They have mini potted plants for $1.99 and usually have a decent seasonal selection. They are so cute!!! Also, wish they had more variety. They always have something new that's in season. Now it's amaryllises. And they had beautiful pumpkins around Halloween time. There's plenty of cut flowers to choose from too! Overall, this location is my go-to economical flower shop!! And, the American Plant store on River Rd is my primary flower shop/plant nursery that has more variety, generally higher quality plants that also often costs more. read more

My go-to during these crazy COVID19 times! YES, you do have to stand in line outside at nearly all times but it's for your and the employees' safety! I'd much rather wait in line that's clearly marked with X's than be crowded and bumped into inside. I especially appreciate all the staff who take control of this and can't thank them enough for what they do (and yay for the free spritzing of hand sanitizer before you go inside!). They open at 8 am but the general line doesn't start until 9 am, since they let seniors shop for the first hour. This TJs is on the smaller side, but they're well stocked of what you may need and things that you didn't even know you would need. I'll be back! read more

This poor Trader Joe's! It's so tiny and the ceilings are so low - it feels so claustrophobic. But thank goodness they at least had what I was looking for and more. I needed cheese sticks and plantain chips and also ended up with clementines and tea. Check out was easy breezy. But man, that parking garage is ridiculous. I came to this establishment from my office down the street. I am currently unable to walk and when I approached the elevator to get the the 4th floor it was not coming. I called the establishment to see if it was on hold on 4 but I was informed it is broken but the elevator in the parking garage works. To get to this parking garage I would have to wheel up a steep hill and get in vehicular traffic. I informed the employee I would have to go to a different establishment that is ADA accessible. It is disheartening that the Trader Joe's ideals of humanitarian and environmentalism is not shown at this location. I expected better from them. read more

A perfectly fine Trader Joe's that's on the smaller side but has a great location. I think this TJs, like the Foggy Bottom location, is a perfect stop when you're running around the urban neighborhood and need to pop in somewhere for a light grocery run or to pick up a meal on the go. It's close to the main drag in Bethesda and situated in a shopping center with a Target express, so pretty much practically retail heaven. There is a parking garage in the back of the complex that's a bit confusing to get to, but once you're there it's super convenient to the shops. But given how bustling this neighborhood gets, I'd rather not drive if I didn't have to. That's where I'd probably try to get in my car and drive to one of the larger, more suburban TJs if I felt like taking a leisurely stroll around the store to examine all the delicious and ever-rotating products. The store is clean, the employees were friendly, and the selection is good, even if it felt a bit more cramped than other stores. read more

Super tiny, hard to navigate, employees don't really seem that friendly or helpful at this location, maybe it's because everything is so cramped and small? Hopefully you're not there when someone has to stock a shelf, otherwise you may never get through. Always a hassle to check out, parking is horrible. I really wish they would just do away with this location and find a better spot in Bethesda... If it were not so small and hard to get in an out of, I would certainly frequent more often, but alas, I am relegated to regular stores with normal parking lots that don't cause a claustrophic person to have nightmares like after a "quick" shopping trip to this TJ's. read more

I love Trader Joe's! But I'm disappointed in these giant Amaryllis that I bought before Christmas. I purchased three of them. Gave one to my mom. And I kept two. They are not giant. And the blooms don't last but a minute. They're very cute though in the little wax container but I will not be purchasing these again. The two stars is for the poor quality of the "giant" amaryllis. Glad they are open but you have to wait at least 40 min in line to enter . Not enough shelter when it rains for those waiting in line meaning some patrons will have to stand in the rain . There should be more m efficient means of entering the store. Love tjs but will likely stop my trips to thie store during the current pandemic for lack of efficiency and time waiting . This particular TJ's should be dubbed the Senior Citizen TJ's. At least that's who you'll see s t r o l l i n g down the aisles at 12pm on any given weekday. This is the closest location to me and parking is abundant if you head down to the underground level instead of heading up to the top level of the parking deck. But be cautious of clueless drivers.* The store is smaller than most, but they have a wide variety of other staples, and by staples I mean cookies, desserts and cakes. I am always finding something new to try. Last time it was their sweet potato frites. This time it was their Gesalt shrimp stir fry; slightly spicy, but full of flavor. The staff is perky and always helpful. They will sympathize with you when TJ's stops carrying a product you loved (Frozen fish tacos). *If you decide not to heed my warning and park below ground may God be with you. I took the gamble and while I waited three minutes for the Silver-haired lady beside me to pull her Cadillac out of her spot all I could say was, "Please don't hit my car. Please don't hit my car. For a long time I thought that the typical shopper of Trader Joe's was billionaire pop stars. Hey, you're looking at a store full of organic and fresh ingredients. Organic usually comes at a price! Then again, I also thought that the lyrics of "Spirit In The Sky" went like "When I die in the name of Tourettes" as opposed to the actual lyric "When I die and they lay me to rest" So all in all I've thought some pretty crazy things before. Trader Joe's turns out to be the opposite of what I thought. Comparably, most items at Trader Joes I feel are below supermarket prices and tend to be tastier and fresher. Anything that is less processed generally tastes fresher to me. I get a box of this delicious cereal "Puffed wheat" sweetened with agave syrup and its like 3 bucks and its awesome. I also like their yogurt split 6 packs. The mango and peach is awesome. I'm a huge fan of their Butter Chicken frozen entree. Great frozen asparagus spears. I mean, I could go on and on. Their bruschetta is awesome. I love love love the tabouleh they have there. I usually get the mini wheat pitas. Ok, now you know like everything in my pantry and it happens to be from that Trader Joes. Of course, the one thing that you wont find for cheaper at Trader Joes is their meat selection. Umm... are you trying to charge me 8 dollars for 2 chicken breasts. I think not! I'll go to Cotsco where I can get an entire farm full of 300 chickens for 8 bucks- tin roof and all. Oh ! And one of the great hidden secrets is their cheese selection. Never has parmesean been so affordable. I know- hold onto your britches! They literally should just advertise their price on parmesean. Their slogan should be- Trader Joes - Your friendly neighborhood parmesean store! The jingle works in my head. Love Trader Joes. Great prices, great food, - parking at this one is a little difficult. Please know beforehand that Trader Joe's is NOT like Whole Foods, while the two do offer organic and natural foods, their approaches are totally different! While Whole Foods caters to a much more gentrified and upscale crowd, Trader Joe's is quite happy to be very granola and more laid back. TJ's selection of fresh fruits and veggies is quite limited, so go get your fresh produce, soups and wines at WF's. Having said that, TJ's sauces, frozen desserts, dried goods (esp. Wasabi-coated chick peas!) cakes, breads, cheeses and even some of their cuts of meat are top notch. Their frozen meal-in-a-bowls are great to take to work, like the Chicken Vindaloo and Kung Pao Shrimp and are a bargain (and not fattening!). This location has good parking but the fact that it is on the second floor and you have to take the elevator is weird, also I find the store itself small and can be a bit crowded and pinched but for the money you'll save for great tasting food, it's a small drawback. A word of advice, if you need to get curry pastes, Indian spices, Middle Eastern ingredients, all that stuff is MUCH cheaper at ethnic groceries, but for everything else, TJ's can't be beat. read more

The parking lot was a disaster and even though I parked my car sideway from my lot to the yellow lines, people were having trouble parking next to me because they couldnt stay within their parking lines. I didnt think that most of the items were organic but the prices were not very competitive either. If you enjoyed packaged frozen ethnic food this would be a good place for it. The meats looked fine but I just didnt see Trader Joe's as a place for buying good quality meat. I didnt see anything I wanted at the store but I bought frozen mango and berries, yogurt and bananas for making a shake. read more

My dad designed the building, so I have a natural bias towards this location. I haven't asked him why you need to get off the elevators on the 2nd floor and walk to the right to catch the elevators to the third floor, maybe it's cause my dad smoked alot of ragga dagga while in architecture school at Berkeley. This architectural marvel does have lots of parking. Thanks dad. The location is small, it's not a big TJs like the ones i'm used to in Cali, but it has what I need except for alcohol. I try not to buy produce here, all TJ produce is pretty lacking but I stock up on edamame, frozen food, greek yogurt, large orchid plants that I will kill within a day, etc. It's across the street from Washington Sports Club, so it's easy to stop by after to ruin a work out. read more

Each time I come here the fruit and produce is always scarce. There needs to be more engagement of the cashiers as the last two times I was here, I had to bag my own groceries. There are a lot of Hawaiian shirts running around, but very few will stop and ask if you need assistance. This store is about a half mile from the Bethesda Metro Station so that makes it convenient when leaving work. I would like to see better customer service extended. read more

This TJ is super-duper small and was super-duper crowded on a Saturday around 5pm. The parking situation is nice that some spots are covered but that lot is sharing space for a lot of other businesses too so it fills up quickly. Also, not the typical Two Buck Chuck (or any alcohol selection at all) like in Virginia or DC. Lines were long and moved slowly. I stopped in because I was in the area and thought it'd be more convenient than going to my usual TJ, but, alas, it was not. I cannot see myself returning here even if in the area. read more

I usually shop at the Trader Joe's in rockville if I'm not at Whole Foods, but this one is closer to me. I try to avoid this location as it it can get insanely packed and the store is quite small! Previously I would come in the afternoons or evenings, the produce selections weren't that great, you could barely walk without someone rubbing up against you. Just chaos! Today I went very early in the morning and it was like a different store. No line outside, plenty of parking, acceptable quality and selection of produce, very quick and efficient checkout. Why is Trader Joe's the best grocery store? -The staff is almost always in a great mood and are very helpful, likely because TJ's cultivates a fun atmosphere AND (in general) they offer excellent pay and benefits. -No rewards club, BOGO offers or other discounts. They just have great prices year round on all items, and not searching for little discounts helps reduce information fatigue. -Tons of vegan, cruelty-free options with good labeling. -Great prices! -Lines move faster than other places because they don't weigh produce! -No intercoms. They had a terrible layout but updated it, still a very small Trader Joe's, but great staff!!!

The staff is always amazingly friendly and helpful! The space is small, but manageable! Every time I've come they seem to have pretty much anything I'd need. All in all I love this location out of all of the dc locations for as busy and as small as this location is check out is usually painless I've never had to wait in a line longer than 1 person ahead of me! The only reason I didn't give this 5 stars is because whomever designed the parking structure was f******** drunk. It's seriously the biggest headache parking there, half of the time i just try to catch an empty metered space. read more
