Deepak and his wife are the nicest people, so helpful and know their inventory by heart. We saw two other "regulars"-- they knew their customers by name! She makes some tasty chaat and they also sell prepared foods up front. We tried the #1 chaat (sorry can't remember name) and the Bhel Puri and samosas. They didn't really photograph well so I'm not posting, but were SOOO tasty. Learn from our mistake-- check this place out!!

Interesting fact, some of the Japanese snacks that I grew up eating were from this Chinese grocery store that no longer exists in Chinatown, DC. They brought back memories and nostalgia. This shop is small but you can find so much around and in between the aisles and shelves. Our family enjoyed looking at the bowls, eating utensils, beauty products, and hello kitty stuff (my daughter specifically). Service was so friendly. They charged me $47.01. They don't mark items with price. and did not give me itemized receipt, they only gave credit card receipt showing total amount. I went back and asked them price of each item I had purchased and total came to $39.92+tax. Please watch what they charge and ask for itemized receipt.

I also picked up some incense sticks, vermicelli, some Asian drinks including pennywort and Mr Brown coffee, preserved plums, and soy sauce. I was disappointed that no buffet style food was available and I guess they may not serve it on Sundays but hoping to try some next time I am back. The store is packed to the fullest and you can find items covering the aisles and tucked in corners. I was looking for Gluten Free items which are hard to come by in a regular box store. Moti's Market had quite a variety. Gluten Free products are quite expensive and hard to find. I wanted to be able to pick up and look at the products, before buying them. I was able to find Gluten Free cookies, matzah ball mix, matzah, onion soup, and gefilte fish. There is ample parking, but checking out can be a challenge. There are only a few lines and on the day I went, they were snaking through the store, almost from front to back. That being said, cashiers were nice, as well as people who helped me find certain items. The line moved fairly quickly. I would highly recommend this store to people who are Gluten intolerant and observing Jewish holidays. Their deli department and meat department are top notch. Thank you Moti's Market for helping to make our Passover Seder healthy for everyone attending.

Purchased four boxes of knishes. I realize now that they had probably been in stock before Passover. I prepared the 16 knishes according to instructions on the box. They were dry & stale . No one could eat them. Tossed them all . Also purchased lamb chops for 13 people. There was so much fat on them it took me three hours to trim them. One guest complained that one of the lamb chops he had tasted rancid. Also bought an iced chocolate cake to put birthday candles on. When I prepared to slice the cake I found that the icing covered paper wrapped around the round cake. The cake was stale even though the icing was fresh. So much for Moti's!
