This is a nice Trader Joe's and I've gotten so many plants from here and tried many different seasonal items. The staff is always pleasant and they move quickly when checking you out. They're also helpful and knowledgeable. I randomly asked why they ring the bell and the cashier actually told me. Lolol. I just love Trader Joe's, my favorite items are the soup dumplings, mango yogurt, of course the fruits and veggies. I also love their croissants, quick meals and the ice cream section always has something good. My dog likes the banana peanut butter cookies lol. The parking is not the best here but there is a parking garage around back, or metered parking out front.

    $4.99 for this bunch.

Let me start with parking. There is no need for street parking. Access to the garage parking is 8001 Woodmont Ave. (Same as the name of the classy apartments above TJs.) There is a sandwich board sign at the entrance, so look out for it by the entrance. Go straight down and there is a dedicated area for Trader Joe's. AND IT IS FREE! I parked right next to the elevator on P1 and it took me straight inside. The store is bright and spacious! So much light coming in! They had everything I had on my list in stock. I haven't been to a TJ's in ages, so I stocked up on goodies I spied on my Trader Joe's fan page. I had two full bags. Now I'm $78 poorer, but have real food to eat, plus beautiful flowers for$4.99! I may have to make this my go-to TJ's, at least during the summer when I'm off, and others are still at work.

The new uptown Bethesda TJ is an improvement over the original Bethesda TJ in that awful building. The store itself is much bigger and seems to have more. I do want to address parking. First it is free BUT you enter at 8001 Woodmont Ave near the St Elmo intersection. You go down the narrow winding drive to P2 level. From there take the elevators to TJ. When you arrive, the baskets are there but for carts go further to the right near the Wisconsin Ave entrance. All this is marked, but poorly.

It's beautiful and the employees are so nice! It has everything your typical TJs has! It is very accessible with an underground parking lot, street parking, and a street entrance along with an entrance from the underground parking lot.

It was a combination of plusses and minuses. First, I thought the store was quite clean and well stocked, always a good thing. I would have expected the produce area to be larger though. The meat department was again well stocked and clean, though some of the seafood, particularly the salmon, did not look fresh. They carry their Care One line of personal care items that I buy in my local stores. Prices seem a bit steeper down here, probably a result of the location. But in fairness, not having visited a lot of other grocery stores in the area, I can't say whether these prices are competitive or not. But most items not on sale were typically 10% more expensive than where I shop at home. The parking lot is inadequate for the amount of business they do, and I think they would have benefited from some additional entrances and exits. You do need to proceed with caution and keep a watchful eye when driving through it.

Since being acquired by Safeway/Albertsons, the "specialty", in a specialty store, has pretty much vanished. I still do believe that their bistro meals, ordered with care, can be a budget, friendly, yes, I do mean budget, friendly, alternative to fast food (herb, roasted turkey dinner with fingerling potatoes and green beans are $16 and can last for two meals) Their carrot cake, has always been exceptional and remains so The disappointing part is how Balducci's now stocks basically Safeway products and up charges considerably for them. (perfect example is their prepared coleslaw. ) Items like cucumber salad, herring nibs, and other items have disappeared in favor of commercially packaged items. I always found their fish to be fresh and flavorful, but now I have seen a decline in the quality of their fish. Recently , I went to get one of their wonderful cups of coffee and found that that Service no longer is available. I guess things change. However, I don't feel the change at Balducci's has been for the better
