First time ordering from this restaurant and I'm definitely not disappointed! Ordered the combination fried rice, shrimp tempura maki and a pineapple smoothie with tapioca. Rice was very delicious, as was the sushi. I ordered delivery and the lady on the phone gave me an accurate wait time. The only thing I'd have to nitpick is that my smoothie was more than half melted by the time I got it. But it still had great flavor. Will be ordering from here again soon! read more

This restaurant has been a neighborhood fixture for like, forever. Practically family. They cater at our church carnival and local parties. I feel like I owe them some degree of loyalty. Hence three rather than two stars. The main problem with Harmony is that their food is totally inconsistant. Some days it is terrible and other days Chinatown-worthy delicious. The same dishes, mind you, can be completely different. Different sauces,different ingredients. They must have different chefs on different days. They must not follow any set recipes.There seems to be no pattern to this either. So annoying. read more

I came here with a party of 6 on a busy Thursday and the owner came out to make sure we were situated without complaints during the meal. Such attention, I may faint! =D. I ordered the lobster and shrimp, so juicy tender and fresh! Must be just bought that morning. Service was fine. I decided to try the sushi based on other reviews. I tried the spider roll. It was good and reasonably priced. READ THIS BEFORE YOU EAT HERE! My family and I were at this restaurant Saturday, March 26th, 2011. All I can say is DON'T eat here!!! Very rude waitress! She waited so long to take our order, then when she finally did she didnt write anything down and she walked away before all of us were through ordering, never asked us if we wanted any Soda/drinks, 10 minutes after bringing appetizers she comes over with another girl and they started taking away our appetizer plates we were eating on. My husband told her "Were not done" her response was "Oh, O.K.! I could see if the restaurant was crowded and they needed the table, but it wasn't ! There were at least 10 open tables. Since she didn't write anything down, of course she forgot some entrees, and asking her for refills on the soda for my little one was like i was bothering her. Also if your going to have the Bus/Girl help you bring the dinners to the table maybe you shouldnt let customers see this SAME person who was just picking up dirty utensils, plates and cups from another table with her thumb now in your entree. The owner should look up the word UNSANITARY! As for the food, the shrimp was good but the beef dishes had a very Foul smell to it. At the end of dinner the waitress sat the check on the table 5 seconds...YES, 5 seconds later the minute she saw the cash on the table, she came by and stood there while we put our coats on, you could see she was getting agitated and annoyed because I was taking a little long to put my child's coat on, but she waited like she couldn't get the money fast enough. My family and I will never eat here again and I plan on telling other family members and my friends as well. read more

Had my wife 60th Birthday party here on October 8th. Had 50 people. Every person came up to me and said how great the food was. Service was superior. Our waitress Jane handled it all by herself. Plus people had food to take home. Would recommend this place to everyone I know. My wife and I usually eat lunch and dinner every week. Lunch menu is also great. I live in the neighborhood and often have a taste for sushi so I usually venture out to LaGrange but I worked late tonight and didn't want to fuss so I gave this place a shot. I was hoping to snag some Pad See Ew and a few pieces of sushi to test this place out. Unfortunately I didn't see Pad See Ew on the menu so I went with the Beef Pad Thai. For sushi I ordered just a few pieces to get a feel for the place. I went with the salmon and salmon roe (salmon fish eggs). I suppose the portion of salmon could have been a tiny bit bigger. It was in no means small. I'm just used to sushi places where the room temperature fish is spanned out over the rice like an oversized blanket. Harmony's sushi wasn't bad at all. Taste was very good. Salmon roe was also very good except that the sea weed exterior of the roe could have been softer or a bit moister. The guy preparing the sushi looked Japanese so all good so far.:-) The pad thai was pretty good as well. I don't usually order that so I can't really compare it to anywhere else but the quality was pretty good. As with any Chinese or Asian food where beef is involved you're bound to get that one piece of beef that is more gristle than meat. I had one of those but 99% of the dish was fine. At the end of the meal I was given an almond cookie as well as a fortune cookie which I gobbled up because I was surely in the mood for something sweet. I'm not sure what sort of desserts they had on offer since the menu was taken away after I ordered my entree. To be fair though the waitress did ask if I wanted anything else. However, I feel that it would have been better to be offered a dessert menu rather than having to ask for one like a fat American :-) I tend to think it's polite to offer something to someone rather than waiting for them to ask for it. Maybe that's just my Italian culture. I would have loved to look at the dessert menu but didn't feel up to asking for it. That's about it really. I'm sure I will go back again and try their other sushi offerings and see if they can make Pad See Ew upon request. I'm not a big fan of Chinese food in general and would much rather have more Thai options for the times that I don't want 100% sushi for dinner. Actually I ordered the Pad Thai as a filler as this was my first time trying their sushi and didn't want to order $30 worth of sushi only to be disappointed and walk away hungry :-) I'll be back. read more

I've ordered from Harmony mostly for sushi take-out. I've been ordering from them for about 2 yrs now, because they make fresh sushi (BTW, there aren't too many places you can get sushi from on the south side of Chicago). Their finished product is not "fancy", but always fresh, and cheaper than an alternative in Oak Lawn!! FRESH is important when ordering sushi. I would give them 5 stars if it weren't for the long wait. I have seen them getting busier and busier, lately....thus the longer wait for take-out. Nonetheless, a great sign when a business gets that busy!! People obviously enjoy their food. So, 5 stars for their food, and 4 stars for their service...they just need to hire more people to keep up with their orders. read more

Simply the best. We've been going to Harmony for quite a few years now. They truly fill a void in the local neighborhood's cultural offerings! You can find a Chinese take-out place in every strip mall, but not one with Sushi, Thai, and "Bubble Tea" also on the menu! They are one of our go-to places when we want quality Asian fare that's not too far and not too pricey. The owners recognize us by now and give us warm greetings when we walk in to pick up our food. Delivery is just as satisfactory. With a small toddler in tow, we don't really eat in the restaurant itself anymore, but were happy with the service when we did. All the food is good. Really a 3.5 star review, Ive been eating at harmony for a couple years i usually get sezchuan shrimp which i enjoy, they also have good hot and sour soup. The sushi is decent i find the price high and ive had better else where but its satisfying when i dont feel like driving to the suburbs or north side. Now ive recently discovered pad kee mao this has been my go to dish lately, but dont order the harmony combo (beef shrimp chicken) i got 4 shrimp a couply pieces of beef and a couple pieces of chicken. Despite the lack of meat the flavor was great so I tried it again with beef and i got more beef than i got beef, shrimp, and chicken combine the first time. So ill stick with a single meat when i order from now on but i definitely will have it again. read more

My co-workers and I have been making runs here during lunch at least once a week but lately, the service has been lacking. My buddy likes to eat so every time he orders he gets 3 tuna rolls and the waitress (always the same black jean and short hair lady) laughs at him. On another occasion our waitress took our order without drinks, forgot our eggrolls and hot tea. The foods not bad and the price is decent but not worth the insults and service. I came on Sunday 4/18/10 with my husband and son. We had just come from the zoo and we were extremely hungry. We were the only people there. When the waitress asked us what we wanted my husband and son ordered what they wanted and I had a few questions about some of the food. She rolled her eyes and answered with an attitude like I was wasting her time. When I scanned through the menu again she took the menu out of my hand and said "oh that should be enough for the three of you." I should of left right then but my son was really hungry so I dismissed it as me reading to much into it. Well it only got worse when she put our order in and came back and asked "are you just going to drink water or are you going to order some drinks?" I told her water was fine and she walked away. She brought out the combination fried rice and I immediately noticed it was quite dark and when I took a bite I knew why. The rice tasted like it had been recooked with a ton of soy sauce. She then brought out the second order which was beef and noodles and it looked horrible. I took a small spoonful and spit it out. The noodles were mush and the meat felt like it had been prechewed! My husband immediately called the waitress over and we told her how bad it was. She then said "oh really that's our most popular item!" I wanted to look around the empty room and say " Says who?" but I didn't. She didn't try to amend the problem or ask if we'd like something different she simply brought us the check for food we didn't eat and walked back to the counter. My son was so upset we went down the block to McDonalds instead. I have never had such bad service and looking back I'm upset with myself that I didn't walk out when I first felt something wrong. Terrible service. Servers extremely rude. Food is good. If I was ordering for takeout and didn't have to deal with service "maybe" it would have been an ok experience. Having dined there today, just on service alone I will never be back to give this place my business. Drinks took forever and half were forgotten. It took so long for the server to take our payment so we went to the front to pay. The lady at the front tried to charge our cards (split bill) but was unable so she called our server several times. The server instead of going to charge us, started cleaning our table, placing silverware and plates, picked up two more checks and instead of charging us first she charged the other two tables. It was only four is us dining but she included the tip (guess she was well aware of her crap service and wanted to make sure she got a tip). We let the lady at the front desk know but we didn't want to argue for the added tip to be removed- we just wanted to get out never to come back. read more
