We were greeted by Marcell and he walked us through picking out our meats and sides. He was so kind with amazing energy!! We picked ribs, sausage, a chicken popper and a few slices of turkey. Everything was great but the ribs were tops!! For sides, we got corn on the cob, beans, fruit salad, potato salad, coleslaw and the best mac n' cheese my daughter says she has ever had!! Our tummies were so full of deliciousness that we took our apple cobbler and Oreo mud pie (or two!!) to go. Hard Eight is a great place to visit for a quick yet flavorful meal. We went midday on a Sunday. It was plenty busy, but we got in quickly. The food and good service keeps us coming back. I had sirloin steak and jalapeño sausage. The sirloin was tasty, but that sausage is incredible! There are so many seasonings in it, it is like a party in your mouth! Our previous experience several years back was not like this. The food was good. We tried a little over everything and all was good. As a BBQ guy myself, it's tough to compare fresh bbq compared to BBQ that wa cooked many hours before. The flavor profiles were all there of course. I really liked the brisket, which has to be marbled for me. It was moist and fatty, loved it! My husband had his lean, he didn't like it as much as I did, he felt it was a little dry. We also liked the okra. It was hot and crispy, very good flavor. The jalapeno sausage also had good flavor. We didn't care for the potato salad, or the bacon wrapped shrimp. The potato salad had some seasoning we weren't fond off and the shrimp has onion wrapped in it, and it over powers the taste. Not a fan. This place is amazing! My daughter and I came here for the first time yesterday and then we drove back to Burleson today to eat here again. We had the turkey, ribs, and brisket over the past two days. The rib was the best I have ever had. My daughter devoured her entire plate of turkey and mac & cheese. Not impressed but as a lot of ya'll know i don't really care for BBQ. The brisket was good but not pull a part tender and lacked flavor from what smoke ring was there. The spicy sausage was just that, spicy. Again good but not great. Also got some fried okra and boy what a shock, it was heavily spiced, not bad, but not great, it was just little to salty. Hard Eight BBQ was the highlight of my day. The Food was good. Had brisket, it was moist and delicious. Bacon wrapped turkey jalapeño bites. They were incredible. Jalapeño cheddar sausage was the best I've had in a really long time. Free beans was also a great surprise. The place was not too busy at lunch time. I found this place great. The food was delicious. The only knock I have is they have it listed all over that it's free beans and yet I couldn't find bean anywhere the night I was there. Walking in to viewing and smelling all the smoking happening is just the right mood setter. The Mac and cheese is bland, as well as the potato salad. You get to the cashier and find out the food is overpriced. The beans and sauces are complimentary, which you have to use liberally to add some flavor to the meats. Not the worst bbq place but not the best for the money either. I don't like giving one star and try look for the good and know there are "bad" nights but on this visit there were no positives. I had heard how good Hard Eight was and went on recommendation of my co-workers. Sadly this was the most disappointing meal / bbq of the trip. Everything was dry and flavorless. My brisket crumbled and hardly had any seasoning, the ribs (you can see how dry they were in the picture) it was like all the moisture had been sucked out of them so that the meat "splintered" and was better suited for a toothpick and both the bacon shrimp and jalapeño sausage were like rubber. The Okra was decent, just way over salted. For the price you pay (especially for the sides and there were a lot I passed over) the food needs to be better. I had bbq at another bbq joint the night before, it was cheaper and the quality and taste was far superior. The staff (all three people I interacted with) looked like they didn't want to be there. I had to ask the person serving the sides to repeat what they said because they were mumbling and very rudely handed me my sides as I answered. I had a bite or two of each item on my tray and stopped and tossed the rest. A few in my party loved theirs and others shared in my disappointment. I'm a fan of Hard Eight. I've been to this location a few times, and it's our go-to place to bring family and friends from out of town. First, the atmosphere screams authentic, tasty barbecue. You walk in through BBQ pits and you can see the meats just waiting for you to devour them. Don't even get me started on that savory aroma as you walk through the parking lot! Second, the sides are plentiful and tasty. I found that their Mac & Cheese is better than most. And the corn on the cob is served to you after being dipped in a bucket of hot butter. That's not's healthy, but it sure is delicious! Finally, the staff is always friendly--I've never had a bad experience at Hard Eight. I love barbecue and because meat has gotten so expensive I don't eat much of it anymore, but I did stop in this place and I ordered three ribs and one slice of burnt end brisket. no sides no drink and my bill was 29.00 for just me. I was shocked as hell. This place is outrageously expensive or they messed up my bill. No drink no sides and 29.00 The BBQ was good but I could have gotten meat with the sides for that price.
