We took a shelling trip to Morris Island--two grands, their parents, and the two grandparents. Even though there were not many shells at the because so many vacationers had beat us to the Island, Captain Bret made our trip worth it. He knew so much of the history of not only the Island but all the surrounding area. We then took the dolphin cruise right after the shelling and what an experience! There were dolphin everywhere. Our 8 year old grandson was just astonished and could not believe how close we were to the pods. Grandparents being from the area knew some of the history, but we learned so much more as we sailed around Ft. Sumter and then under the bridge. Our grandsons had a wonderful time as well as the rest of the group. It was a very hot day, but in July that is expected here. Captain Bret made it fun, knowledgeable and a life lasting memory for the family. I booked a dayboat private charter trip with captain Bret for the last weekend in April, for myself and 4 other girls. Needless to say, it was the highlight of our trip! We got on the boat at a pier only 10 minutes outside of Charleston & our cooler stocked with food & drinks broke heading up to the boat. Luckily, captain Bret came to the rescue with a giant cooler filled with ice so we were able to bring everything we had. We started by cruising the harbor & captain Bret was very accommodating, even stopping the boat when our group themed hats went flying into the water. We stopped midway at Morris Island for about an hour where we were able to hang on the beach or in the water. It was a beautiful day and it was a great place to get some sun off of the boat. We then cruised around for another hour and Bret put up with our antics even after we had had a few cocktails! The trip ended at Reds Ice House in Shem Creek just in time for happy hour. We just got back from a wonderful vacation at Kiawah Island. It was fabulous except that there were no shells, none at all! Looked around for fun shelling opportunities and ran across Harborview Charters. We took their boat, covered, comfy, to Shell Island. Saw dolphins in a pod! At the Island, we had the expertise of Paula, who helped us find great shells. Through her guidance, I found my first shark tooth! We heard about various items found by others here, like old pottery, seaglass, cutlery, etc. So much fun and we will call on them again. Paula asked on the way back what information we needed about Charleston. She was so personable! She shared laminated sheets from www.fossilguy.com. I am so glad that I brought my floppy hat. It was hot! Would have taken more cold drinks and a chair for which they had plenty of room. Found alligator scat, or something, I will look it up. Will take pictures of my finds and upload. My daughter booked a surprise shelling expedition for 3 as a surprise Mother's Day gift for me when I came for a visit. The boat was clean and comfortable, and the trip took us through the harbor and over to Morris island. Captain Bret was friendly, informative about local history, the sea life and shelling. He made sure we knew how to look for shells and where the best places are, then, gave us some space to wander and enjoy ourselves. The experience was a lot of fun. As an added bonus, and example of the quality of service, he took the extra time to stop the boat so we could enjoy the pods of dolphins both going and returning. We were glad to tip captain Bret, but plan to send him some jokes to improve his routine!!! read more

My husband and I went on the shelling tour to Morris Island. The captain told some interesting information about the Charleston Harbor, Fort Sumter and the civil war. Then when we got to the island we were shown where the best places were to find shark teeth, shells, old pottery and bricks that had washed up on shore from the old fort Sumter. On the way back we compared our shark teeth to photos to figure out what type of shark they were from. I actually found 6 on my own and a few more with help from the guide. A very good tour. My husband and were down to Charleston to celebrate our anniversary and last minute we decided to take a sunset cruise. I'm so glad we did, and I'm so glad we chose Harborview Charters. The captain and his first mate were wonderful. He not only had some historical facts, but he's got jokes too! I took a late morning cruise around the harbor to relax, and Capt. Bret took us by the Battery, under the Ravenel Bridge, to Shem Creek, past Ft. Sumter, and to Morris Island. He was knowledgeable, speaking about Chas. history, pointing out landmarks, spotting various birds of interest, including diving and nest Osprey, and pointing out a number of dolphins, including a mother and baby. It was a terrific, personal tour with perfect weather, clear skies, uncrowded waters, for a relaxing, Charleston laid back tour. HIghly recommended! read more

We had a great afternoon with Capt Bret and Harborview Charters. We toured the Charleston Harbor with great views of the historic battery area and then Capt Bret took us to one of his "secret" spots to search for shark teeth. And it was a success!! We found numerous teeth of all sizes which was awesome. This was a great family trip with my wife and two daughters. Captain Brett took my wife and I and our 3 year old and 7 year old on a fun ride over to Morris Island. Brett was relaxed and low keyed and knew a lot about the area and the sea life. We saw lots of dolphins only 20 feet away from the boat. Brett was on time and delivered a great time for the whole family. Note that he is a busy guy and will show up as promised even if he does't have time to answer all of his calls immediately since he is out on the boat with clients and can't alway call back right away. read more

I reached out to Bret for a the Beach Day option for a bachelorette party with 10 girls. The whole experience was perfect; beautiful ride out to the harbor island and set us up with all of the chairs, coolers and umbrellas. On the way back, we had a scenic ride in and out of some of the fishing villages nearby. Bret is super knowledgeable about the area and gave us an awesome overview of the area and history. Our dolphin-watching cruise was pleasurable and relaxing. Captain Bret gave historical information about Charleston places, fun facts, and even gave us restaurant recommendations! He knew his stuff, but when I asked a question he didn't know (do dolphins ever have twins?), he admitted that he didn't know, which I appreciated. Most tour guides would simply have lied, so I was grateful for his honesty. We saw way more dolphins than I ever expected. We will be back in the warmer months! read more

My sister bought me this for my graduation gift and I had an AMAZING TIME! We had the boat to ourselfs (4 total) which made the experience even more special. we had a fantastic time seeing dolphins-even a baby dolphin :) ! and learning about birds, wildlife and the history of Charleston. Captain Bret is a great guy. Punctual, knowledgeable, friendly and fun. We went to Morris Island for a shelling excursion and had a great time. Highly recommend the sunset cruise of Charleston harbor.
