This is a cool park on the river. It is near the baseball stadium for the Riverdogs. I have come to this park before to go dragon boating. They have a marina here with lots of boats. They also have another dock on the other side of the park for people to sit and enjoy the view. There are many benches at this park and a few picnic tables. This is a nice place to come enjoy a lunch downtown with a great view.

I attended a Moja Arts event here over the weekend and the weather was superb. There were several events going on throughout the city and I wanted to attend an event where the vendors would be so I ventured over to this nice waterfront park to wrap up my evening. This was a Reggae Block party where you could bring your lawn chair and chill for the evening while checking out the many food trucks and a few vendors. The music and energy of the event was amazing, and well worth my time to attend. The event was well organized with parking across the street for a small fee and the police was there to assist with traffic.

I love this park. Convenient spot downtown to catch the sunset. Also a great playground for the kiddos.

For the young & young at heart: Brittlebank Park has many options for your playing needs. There is lots of wide open spaces to run, throw/kick a ball, play tag, etc. They also have a couple of climbey-on things with one geared towards the tiny ones and the other for those who are more stable on their feet. It could use some TLC but I wouldn't say it's no good. They have 3 different styles of swings, picnic benches, and bathroom access. -It's a porta potty, but you shouldn't have to rush to find some random business on a last minute bathroom emergency.- For the not so young &/or spending the day w/o the kids: There are benches under beautiful trees overlooking the waterway. You have space galore to have a picnic or some quiet time in nature with a good book or journal. There is a fishing dock, and an off-leash area for the pups to run. What this park has that most downtown parks do not: -The police station is right across the street so I have always felt safe here. -Free Parking! -Multiple spaces so even if there are a few people there, you won't have to run into them if you don't want to. -It's also a very nice spot for a sunset thanks to the wide open and absolutely beautiful view of the water. -It's a local spot. You won't find a lot of tourists hanging out around here. **But who knows what will happen with the new development forming around it**

Brittlebank Park on Lockwood Drive in Charleston is a one of my favorite parks. This is a nice wide open green space that is situated on the Ashley River and has unobstructed views of the water that are beautiful. Most times of the day this park is quiet and peaceful and is great for finding a spot to relax and clear your head in the middle of everything. I like having picnics here and even finding a nice spot to go fishing at this park. This is also a really good event space that can hold larger or smaller event very well. This park has plenty of trees and shade to keep you cool on a warm day. I have been coming to this park since before I could remember and have always had a positive experience here.

Adore this tiny escape right on the marina. Is this a small long park and shore line spot? Yes Is there a playground for the kids? Yes Does it get crowded during RiverDogs baseball games? Yes because the stadium is next door. Does crew and rowing practice there? Yes Is there limited parking? Yes Is there a breathtaking sunset most nights? Very much yes Can you fish off the dock? You bet Can you sit on a bench or have a picnic and escape the fast paced life of Charleston? Oh my yes.

My first experience with this park was for the "Thanks Joe" event, honoring Mayor Joe Riley for his 40 years of service to Charleston. The park is set up nicely for people to attend regardless of the event, and has a great view of the Ashley River. The park has several attractions for children of all ages to entertain themselves and get the wiggles out. Parking was very convenient across the street, and the main road is not very busy even on a regular day, so you don't feel like Frogger when crossing over to the park from the parking lot.

Brittlebank Park isn't the biggest park, nor is it the most built up, but it does offer up some nice natural space for strolling, walking your pup, or viewing the Ashley River. The park itself is largely a wide open green space with some benches, a playground, a fishing pier from which you can fish and/or launch a small boat, and a pseudo dog park area where you can let Fido off leash to play with other canine friends. There aren't any true walking paths through the park (that I know of), though there are makeshift paths secondary to heavy foot traffic over the years. As it's right on the Ashley, there are some nice views of the river. Right now, it seems (or at least in my largely uninformed opinion) that this park is used much more frequently/heavily as an event space rather than as a "true" park. Though I may be completely incorrect in thinking so, and it's not to say that there aren't people out and about in the park on a regular basis (because there are). In fact, if you come at the right time, you may just be lucky enough to witness a random dude completing his daily cardio dance/tai chi routine as you stroll through the park (I know because I was so lucky once!).

The first one told me about the importance of marshland, but was hard to read because it was very faded. The second, more solid and legible sign / plaque, gave us a history of how the park got it's name and who she was. The views from this end of the park are nice and you can see the new construction of the Children's Center and the Marina along Lockwood Blvd. Pelicans could be see diving in to the water for breakfast, so we stopped to watch that for a minute. Benches are available for sitting if you are so inclined. Overall, a nice quaint park for sitting and meditating.

Directly across from the harbor, it mainly consists of an overflow pond, a fishing dock and a couple of benches under the shade of oak trees. You can relax and take in the peacefulness around you, watch the locals fish, or catch a few yourself. You have to park in the private parking lot of the condos just off of Lockwood, but I have never had a problem with this. There is not a lot of room for kids to run around but it is a cool spot to share with bigger kids who are interested in fishing. Overall though it is a great place, especially if you just need to take a minute or two for yourself.

Some put their toe over the line. I was in ankle deep! Women wanted me, men wanted to be me. The easy part was the short walk to see the view or setup a chair. You can watch as the fisherman cast lines or watch the sunset. The parking lot has only 10 spots, but it wasn't an issue for us. Seems like cars wouldn't stay to long. I would recommend stopping by for a short bit, but due to the water restrictions and therefore ocean **cough cough** restroom restrictions I wouldn't stay long.

Each side of the Inlet has it's own personality. On the Sullivan's Island side there is a parking lot with a few historical markers telling visitors the story that Breach Inlet played in the American Revolution; in 1776 that the British could not ford the inlet and take Sullivan's Island on foot, many drowning trying to cross the inlet from what is now IOP to Sullivan's Island. On the IOP side there is a footpath through the brush to get to the inlet and from there you can head left to get the beach at Isle of Palm. Both sides have small parking lots and small beaches that you can fish off of. Swimming the Inlet is illegal, because it is so dangerous and I've witness currents take skiers flying off; only to be saved by life jackets they were wearing. Many people have drowned in this water. But it is a great place to come fish, wade (not swim) in the water, or just hang out on a nice day.
