This is a great area to sit down and relax in on a hot day in the shade or any time that you need a little quiet. The park is very well maintained and always seems clean and smells good. This is a great place to visit and escape from the world and is very Charleston, but seems to be a different place while still being in the middle of the city. I have always had a great and fun experience visiting here and am very happy that this park exists.

The paths were recently cleared and roots shaved down to provide an even and clear walking surface. While walking we saw a barred owl, woodpecker, and bald eagle. We went the day after a heavy rain and the trails were a bit muddy. I recommend sneakers or shoes good for mud if you go after a rain. On a non-rain day, all footwear is acceptable. It was little tricky to find as Google takes you to the 41 entrance that leads to a chained gate. Eventually we found the correct entrance on Park West Blvd. Once in the lot, you drive all the way to the farthest baseball fields with plentiful parking. Tip: take a photo of the trail maps as you can get turned around at the forks in the trails.

I couldn't help but stand and watch how well he worked, careful footing, tiny pruning sheets, totalky enveloped in his toil. I bumped into a volunteer who told me a bit about the lake behind the main building, the picnic area, the baseball fields --- a sweetheart of a lady, and so generous with her time. I loved the tall pine trees and the pine straw bed they laid down around the picnic table area. We sat breathing in the sweetest air, observing peace -- absorbing tranquility, this is a wonderfully calming place.

I guess many of the amenities aren't exactly necessary for my but, it's a great place nonetheless. See a list from their website of what they offer below... Most of the amenities I have at my own complex so they are a bit redundant for me personally. They do have a dog park with a big lake that I'd love to use but, my dog hates to go in the water and that's the majority of the park. From the list below, the thing I use the most is the walking trails. It's a great little trail with doggie pot stops on the way. I recently realized they have a couple horseshoe pits with backboards too! As this is a recent discover, I am totally looking forward to getting my hands on some horseshoes and getting a game together. He ran a ferry down the Edisto river from Charleston to Augusta Georgia. The original site has been preserved within the park. This is a relaxing and tranquil place to unwind and shed the burden of city life. They offer a park, tent and RV camping spots as well as a few cabins. In the spring and fall they offer weekend music festivals,and they also offer the Edisto River Adventures which offer a full service tubing experience down the Edisto river from May through fall. This place is a must visit great for singles or families.
