This park has such a nice walking trail. I found it fun that there were stops that you do exercises at during your walk. You see beautiful flowerbeds, statues, ducks and big trees with beautiful Spanish moss. They have a gazebo that I've seen people do yoga on, a basketball court and so much more. There was also a good amount of shade in the time frame that I walked the entire park.

Hampton Park is a wonderful, large park in Downtown Charleston. It is a great place to run, walk, or bike, but if you're not into fitness, you can always come here just to relax or have a picnic. The gazebo and rose pavilion are especially pretty. A lot of folks take photos here- I've seen many wedding and family photographers when I've been here for runs. It does cost a LOT to get married here, though, and you must go through the city. If you like to run, walk, or bike, the road around the park (Mary Murray Blvd.) is closed to cars/trucks on Saturday mornings. If you choose to run, walk, or bike any other time, be sure to stay in the designated lane. One "lap" is almost a mile which means you have access to your car, water, bathroom, etc every mile. I've always felt safe here but I usually visit during daylight or early evening hours. A few groups meet here to run or work out too, so you can join one of those for safety in numbers if you're concerned.

The park was absolutely beautiful with scenic natural views all around. It was quiet and peaceful--perfect for a relaxing morning walk. Highly recommend checking out this park!

This is a beautiful park. Great for walking, biking running, pets. There's a small bridge and fountain in the middle, with flowers lining the paths. Some limited seating area as well. Really comes alive during the springtime.

After lunch at Grove & Park we decided to go for a walk in nearby Hampton Park. It was a glorious autumn afternoon and the walk was just perfect. What a beautifully maintained Park for public use. Gorgeous flowering trees and shrubs with people walking their dogs & babies. A beautiful gazebo and pond with lots of benches to sit & soak in the fresh air and sunshine. I only have one complaint... There are no signs, so you don't know where you are going or the distance involved. Other than that we had a lovely time meandering around the park.

I spent the day here, parked in the sunshine so the solar panels on the roof could pull in some power and working from my wifi hotspot in the van. Hampton Park is the largest park in Charleston - around 61 acres - and between calls, I took a nice walk around the central lake. Lots of significance here. The park is named in honor of Confederate general Wade Hampton who owned one of the largest collections of slaves in the South. And during the close of the Civil War, the park was used as a prisoner-of-war camp. The roadway into the park is named Mary Murray Boulevard after the wife of Charleston philanthropist Andrew Buist Murray who funded the roadway that is atop the original horse-racing oval. Yes, this used to be a horse racing track! Several monuments and memorials in the park. You'll need to seek those out on your own. It's a great walking park with a simple oval loop (the former horse track) and lots of greenery to look at. The fountain is beautiful and a regular photo op. The park is beautiful with many different areas to relax, by the lake, in the trees, gazebos. Parking was easy and the walking paths are well kept. The flowers were quite extensive in mid May.

A must visit if you are touring charleston. The park has multiple paved trails, good for wheelchair users. Biking path on the road along the perimeter of the park. Small pond with water geese and a playground for kids. The bathroom was locked when we were there so I'm not sure what the operating hours are. It's one of the best designed park I've visited anywhere. It's decently large so you can spend a couple of hours relaxing and exploring without getting bored.

Absolutely beautiful park right outside downtown Charleston. This is a great spot for a walk, run, bike ride and/or a picnic as there are plenty of great paths and spots to enjoy a picnic. The azaleas and blossoms are gorgeous in the spring!

Early morning run with a friend who saw me running on Strava and invited me here. Nice one mile loop and a few soft surface paths inside the park as well. There are two parking lots. Make sure you know which one you are meeting your guests at. It was dark when I ran so didn't spend much more than an hour here.

Hampton park has been a place of comfort for my roommates and I for awhile now! We go frequently, it's the perfect walk. You have so much to look at and so many cute dogs to run into. We bring dogs there all the time, they have stations all around for doggy bags and a water station in the middle of the park. During the spring the flowers in one walk way are absolutely breath taking. Not to say the flowers are always gorgeous because they are, they have people there constantly taking care of the park and planting new flowers ever so often to keep it fresh and gorgeous! They do a great job. The combos and unique flowers they have are so fun to look at and take pictures of. They have plenty of ducks/ goose/ birds- not sure exactly what they are but so fun. They do poop a lot all over so be ware but that's nature for you. We love walking around grabbing coffee or a smoothie at huriyali or little line kitchen- which is more of a walk but still close. They also have lime bikes there which are so much fun and a great activity if bored. Take a few laps or bike anywhere. Definitely will need to check it out if in the area.

Really cute little park in the downtown area of Charleston. I wouldn't say it's the top of the tourist sites list for those visiting on a short timeline but if you have some extra hours or if you're a local and want a nice place away from the "city" scenery this is a cute spot. I stopped by Huriyali for lunch, just a couple blocks over, and walked over after to look at the variety of plants, fountains, gazebo, statues and so on. It was a beautiful walk around I definitely could have spent more time enjoying with a book or audio podcast. I came around the end of Summer early Fall time period and everything was still lush and green, with plenty of hanging Spanish moss to go around. I would recommend all kids and adults wearing shoes in this park as there were tons of poopies from dogs and geese all over. The worst area was around the big fountain/pond where the bridge goes over the water. That was the geese's layer. The rest of the pathways are well kept and clear. Give yourself 30-45 minutes to explore if you want the full experience and bring your camera!

The first one told me about the importance of marshland, but was hard to read because it was very faded. The second, more solid and legible sign / plaque, gave us a history of how the park got it's name and who she was. The views from this end of the park are nice and you can see the new construction of the Children's Center and the Marina along Lockwood Blvd. Pelicans could be see diving in to the water for breakfast, so we stopped to watch that for a minute. Benches are available for sitting if you are so inclined. Overall, a nice quaint park for sitting and meditating.

Directly across from the harbor, it mainly consists of an overflow pond, a fishing dock and a couple of benches under the shade of oak trees. You can relax and take in the peacefulness around you, watch the locals fish, or catch a few yourself. You have to park in the private parking lot of the condos just off of Lockwood, but I have never had a problem with this. There is not a lot of room for kids to run around but it is a cool spot to share with bigger kids who are interested in fishing. Overall though it is a great place, especially if you just need to take a minute or two for yourself.

Lots of other activities for kids and adults - walking trails, disc golf course, climbing wall, nature course, dog park, fishing dock, and kayak/sup rentals. The campground is well kept and most sites are great. Beware of the ones that share a driveway if you're going it alone (50/51, 78/79, 124/125, etc). The campground map clearly denotes which ones have shared driveways. Also several sites have a sewer/water/electric hookup right on top of the neighboring site pretty much (119 to 118, for example). Those are not well marked on the map. Firewood at the store is hit or miss, so bring your own if you can. Each site does have a picnic table and fire ring, but the picnic tables are on the older side. Lots of trees all the way around, and there are a few interior sites with concrete pads. Bathhouse and showers are newly renovated and very nicely done. For the adventurous folks, there is also a primitive camping area for tenting on the other side of the overflow parking area behind the RV campground. These have raised tent pads, but no water and electric at the sites. There is also an adjacent group camping area frequently used by the boy scout troops. The campground store is very nice and I always end up spending money on trinkets and souvenirs. If you're going to the Festival of Lights, the shops are right across the street from the campground and very easy to walk to. This makes it super easy to buy ornaments before the shops get crowded and get train tickets before they sell out. 4 stars instead of 5 for just a few drawbacks. One, because football season is rough there. No cable, no TVs anywhere in the park to go watch the games, and digital antenna picks up only the most basic channels. The wi-fi at the campground store is good but only if you're standing in the store. Even a few RV spots away, you'll need a satellite with you to get your favorite football games. Also, some of the camping spots within our group needed a little TLC. The ash in the firepit from the previous guest was all the way up to the rim, leaving us to do the cleanup work. Campground staff was zooming around on their golf carts at way too fast speeds, making us nervous with our kids trying to ride their bikes. For the price we paid, it was very good but not great - a hard packed dirt spot with no cable/wi-fi and a sewer line at our neighboor's back door.
