Some put their toe over the line. I was in ankle deep! Women wanted me, men wanted to be me. The easy part was the short walk to see the view or setup a chair. You can watch as the fisherman cast lines or watch the sunset. The parking lot has only 10 spots, but it wasn't an issue for us. Seems like cars wouldn't stay to long. I would recommend stopping by for a short bit, but due to the water restrictions and therefore ocean **cough cough** restroom restrictions I wouldn't stay long.

What a beautiful (dangerous) place to hang out. Breach Inlet separates the island of Sullivan's…read moreIsland and Isle of Palm passable by bridge. Each side of the Inlet has it's own personality. On the Sullivan's Island side there is a parking lot with a few historical markers telling visitors the story that Breach Inlet played in the American Revolution; in 1776 that the British could not ford the inlet and take Sullivan's Island on foot, many drowning trying to cross the inlet from what is now IOP to Sullivan's Island. On the IOP side there is a footpath through the brush to get to the inlet and from there you can head left to get the beach at Isle of Palm. Both sides have small parking lots and small beaches that you can fish off of. Swimming the Inlet is illegal, because it is so dangerous and I've witness currents take skiers flying off; only to be saved by life jackets they were wearing. Many people have drowned in this water. But it is a great place to come fish, wade (not swim) in the water, or just hang out on a nice day.

Views of the water and the big road bridge abound, while a smaller pedestrian bridge highlights the entrance to the park from North Charleston. There is a small gravel parking lot, two beaches, a dock that many fish off of or pull their boats up to before hitting the water. I will note there are sharks at this beach (well duh! You're probably thinking. But I tend to see more here in the shallows than I do at the main beaches.) speaking of sharks, this is a great spot to search for tiny shark teeth (and I do mean tiny!!) I love coming here to walk the dog or have a picnic. It's absolutely beautiful and a well kept spot for locals.

The park consists of several boardwalks that allow you to walk over the creek and the marshlands that surround it, it's also adjacent to a more commercial boardwalk full of retail and restaurants as well as a marina where you can watch shrimp boats come in and feed the dolphins and pelicans their cast offs. I could have spent hours there just doing that! I love bird watching and the walkways out into the park are perfect for that. At the end of a few of them they also have covered pergolas/gazebo like structures with a bit of seating and shade if you want to park for a while and watch. This is also ground zero for a lot of fishing, so it may be a bit more crowded an other parts of the park but on a bright, sunny day it's the place you'll want to be.
